Changes for Hawthorn

Harry has beaten Rioli in the past, has the form, should definitely go to him. I'd assume

Wasn't able to watch the Hawks vs Dogs on Sunday, can anyone shed some light on how they went with their forward line?

Roughy and Cyril kicked 4 each. Roughy was their main target, Buddy didn't do much nor did brown. Cyril was very good to watch. Quick, skillful, evasive. I think he would have got the chocolates for the Hawks. Played through the middle a little but mainly as a high HFF.

Without Gibson and Franklin should really be able to push them, would like to see either Dawes or Anthony in for MCarthy and Shaw in for Toovey if fit if Shaws not fi would like to see buckley have a run instead of Tooves good player but extremly poor start to 2010

Who else was down there besides those three? Morton I assume?

In: Dawes
Out: O'Bree

We need to go big in the forward line to stretch their flimsy defense. One of O'Bree or McCarthy needs to go so Pendles can be 100% midfielder not HFF - Macaffer is better placed to play HFF.

If Shaw is right to go he needs to come in, the out would depend on match ups, if Toovey is best for Rioli he will retain his spot and perhaps McCarthy to get the chop.

Lots of calls for Fraser to get axed, but the Hawks are height deficient so we need to stretch them. I would have Jolly in the ruck for the first half with instructions to smash Renouf physically. Then unleash Josh in the second half with instructions to run hard - Renouf will blow up and we should be dominating in the middle in the last quarter. The Cats did it & the Dogs did it - they both ran away in the second half.

Fraser getting axed for this week is a bit stupid. Need to stretch them in the ruck especially if Franklin is out as Roughie can't go in the ruck. Another big forward would be handy too as they have lost Gibson as well. Poor buggers are not having much luck with injuries again this year.

Any update on Shaw yet?

Injury list off the official site, in one way it looks good for Heath, as a test after a virtual 15 day break seems quite good, but Johnson is also listed as a test, and he is next to no chance to play this week.

Johnno back by ANZAC day seems a chance though, we need him to take a speedy Essendon type.

Cameron Wood apparently back in near full training mode, and is a chance to play this week in the VFL.

Round four
Heath Shaw (back) test
Ben Johnson (knee) test
Josh Thomas (calf) 1-3 weeks
Ben Sinclair (shins) 1-3 weeks
Brad Dick (shoulder) 4-5 weeks

Would be surprised if Fraser got dropped.

1. He played better last week
2. Clearly going to want to stretch Renouf and get over the top of them in the middle when he tires out.

I would like to see Dawes in for Brown and Shaw for Toovey. Would also like to see OBree given the boot but thats fancilful

I'd say Fraser has to improve his performances over the next 2 weeks, or Cameron Wood will take his place pretty quickly.

Wood is back in training now, and maybe just his presence will force Fraser and Jolly to "lift" because they now have a replacement ready and waiting.

Can't see Toovey being dropped, he beats his opponent one on one most weeks, I like to call him the "Little Presti", as you don't see much of him, but you don't see his opponent either.

Most would like to see Leigh Brown dropped, but I believe MM keeps playing him for his physicality and versatility, rather then his output each week, make of that what you want.

If Shaw plays, I can still only see 2 changes being made;

In: Shaw, Anthony
Out: MaCaffer, McCarthy.

I don't want both of the young blokes out this week either, but I can see it coming from a mile off, MM will go back to old "tried and tested" to beat the Hawks.

What I would like to see

INS: Shaw, Dawes
OUTS: Toovey, Macaffer

B - O'Brien Presti Maxwell
HB - Shaw L.Brown Wellingham
C - Thomas Swan Beams
HF - Davis Cloke Didak
F - Medhurst Dawes Lockyer
R - Jolly Pendlebury Ball
INT - Fraser McCarthy Sidebottom O'Bree

Macaffer out Mccarthy to keep his spot?
Although I didn't highly rate Macaffer's game last week he was head and shoulders above McCarthy. I will be a bit gutted if McCarthy keeps his spot this week as he did not earn another chance, he looked like a rabbit in the headlights. I know a few people on here rate him but at AFL level I am still waiting as I have seen nothing from him yet to show that he is any good.

Sorry micka meant the other way around.

Macaffer keeps his spot and McCarthy to the VFL for Dawes.
We need another KPF.

Jolly was marginally better last week agreed, he and JOsh will play but looking forward to Woods returning from injury. Other changes depending on who is available, Heath comes in for sure if fit, prob also a tall forward. Think Johnny McC is in trouble.

McCaff prob OK, i sort of felt he wasnt suited to that loose role across half back, Heath was hugely missed last week the way that game was played....

Second option for Roughhead if reqd is Leroy , so not sure of the need for a Nathan Brown this week. Having said that Leroy has had 2 pretty poor games...

Are you serious?

Jolly being dropped after 4 games with a new club?

Fraser compared to Jolly has been absolutely shithouse in ruck contests like always, if there is to be a ruckman to be dropped for Wood in 2 weeks (wouldn't be next week as Wood needs miles in legs) it will be Fraser.

The one thing I will say is I think both Fraser and Jolly look "comfortable" to me, that is that they aren't busting their balls to get the most out of themselves each week, simply because there has been no instant threat of demotion until Wood returns.

Jolly won't be dropped unless he is injured, in fact Fraser and Leigh Brown are the 2 that should be worried about Wood coming back, because I can see Jolly and Wood doing the ruckwork and Fraser or Brown being dropped as the second ruck rests up forward.

Having said all that, Wood will still have to perform at VFL level, he won't be an instant inclusion just because Jolly and Fraser are struggling.

Can't see Wood being in line for senior selection till round 6 (Carlton) so Fraser, Jolly and Brown have 2 more weeks to "lift" or then they will be in danger.

Toovey beats his man one on one most weeks I'd like to see that and thats for sure you don't see much of him and if you do he's normally running over the bloody ball.

OUT : Toovey, L Brown

IN: Anyone with 2 arms and 2 legs on our list would do a better job.

Toovey and L Brown could compile a box set DVD between them of bloopers and blunders without too much trouble. I am embarassed to see these guys in our side week after week when we have so much talent waiting in the wings.

Fraser and Obree are equally as terrible, probably worse.
