Why does everyone say that Wood has to get some miles into his legs before he comes into the team? It was a ligament in his thumb/finger he could and should have still been running during his recovery all that should be lacking is match fitness.

Can't see Wood being in line for senior selection till round 6 (Carlton) so Fraser, Jolly and Brown have 2 more weeks to "lift" or then they will be in danger.[/quote]

So are your saying Fraser is going to be gifted more games - Wood has been running for weeks --if you have seen training

Out:Fraser, McCarthy, Toovey, SOB
In: Dawes, JA, Blight/Reid (Reid - Might be too tall stucture wise), Shaw

SOB - He should be gone. With the recruitment of Ball, the emergence of Wellers as an inside mid and with Beamer and Steele improving, he is at the back of the pack. Unlikely to be going anywhere though as he is still MM's fav.

Dawes & JA - We need 2 big forwards deep (I would also consider Rusling for one spot... if we just give him an opportunity to find some form up forward in the magoos). The reasoning behind this is that Cloke seems to be collecting outside 50 and just pumping it forward to the goal square at the moment. This is actually a good tactic given he doesn't have the precise foot skills (ala medders etc) to hit up a leading target and it also means he isn't kicking behinds. Therefore we need at least two big bodies to contest, with quality smalls i.e. Davis/Dids/Medders/Dick (when back) to crumb..... Not a situation where Davis is trying to take hangers like last week.

Toovey - Out of form. Doesn't have the quality ball skills of these two. I would lean towards Blight, although he may be a bit light in frame still.

Fraser - Play Jolly in the ruck with support from Dawes (in foward line) and Brown. Hopefully he finds some form. Fraser is providing nothing up forward and nothing around the ground. Nuff said.

(NB. I think we do actually need Brown as he is opportunistic and provides an intimidation factor which we are otherwise missing.... Although I am enjoying Harry's new found agro)

If Dawes isn't picked later on today i will personly go down to The Westpac Centre and show my anger. Fraser IS NOT A FORWARD and Leigh Brown IS NOT A FORWARD the sooner our selection panel realise this the sooner we'll start kicking more then 4 goals. And last of all if I see Leon trying to take mark of the century I will put my foot through my TV. Leon rove the ****ing ball of the pack you're not 6 foot 6.

Excellent points. Fraser Brown Mccarthy out. Shaw Dawes and player X in

This wouldn't be the case if our forwards actually decided to "fly" for the ball and contest it, rather than try and out-position their direct opponents only to watch them mark it far too easily. There hasn't been any 'roving" opportunities for Leon, thus he has taken it upon himself to at least contest the ****ing thing.

Only Cloke, Jack, Davis and Thomas from the first three rounds have all gone for the footy in aerial situations in attack and tried to make a contest of it. Our other forwards have been guilty of the above.

yeah but Leon always goes up with one arm when there's no chance he's gonna mark it. just stay on the ground and do what he does best.

As I said, if he stays on ground, he will look even more stupid when the opposition take an easy uncontested mark and rebound with ease- which has been the case a few times already this season with Medders, Dids, Lockyer etc.

Also, as for team selection goes, I will be filthy if the Jack Attack doesn't return to FF.

****ing disgrace that we drop our FF in the first place!

Couldnt agree more. If Dawes is not in and L.Brown plays then clearly Mick is playing favourites and you just cant to thats its a bloody discrase. Wouldnt be suprised if Dawes asks for a trade at the end of this year because if i was him i would.

Well yes, this would appear a better way to go, however they've named the side i guess.

I'm really amazed they've named Johnson..that is an unbelievable turnaround for a dislocated patella. The soft tissues get stretched to buggery when the dislocation occurs and they cannot possibly repair in that timeframe.

I don't reckon he'll play.

So door opens for a key forward...I think Dawes will come in.

If so, we're too top heavy; Brown or Fraser out ( with the 'flu') then a runner comes in.

I'd back JMac for a second chance.

Dawes wasn't named as an emergency, quite unbelievably. He was actually dropped from our emergencies after being the best tall in a Pies jumper at Vic Park last weekend. Go figure.

It is pretty unbelievable given how poor Jack and Trav have been overall at providing a target, and how directionless we were in attack past two weeks.

Plus, how a big forward ( Barry ) did so well against them last week.

Not that i'm saying Dawes is equiv of BBB, but maybe they could try him to play in a similar manner.

Surely Bucks can get into his ear and get some fire into him.

He's been playing with fire in the belly so far this season... really!

I think people got hung up on one bad game in a practice match vs. Richmond. Dawes still has hard hands on the lead, and doesn't get the dukes out, but I don't understand why people are expecting him to embark on the AFL portion of his career without any faults?

It must be a generation Y thing, immediate gratification and so forth. :p

Really glad to hear that..it'd be a really big plus for Pies over the next five to eight years if he can kick on.

The hard hands are probably just nerves, not quite relaxed enough in the role and you'd hope that's something time, confidence and coaching will cure.

Hope he goes well in VFL and gets a chance soon, we desperately need a target in the square.

Lol not if Malthouse comes in halfway through and tells him something completely different leaving Buckley standing there scathing like the other week...
