And you can put your house on the fact that if we lose by a kick, and Xon had a shocker with Kelly tearing it up at the WAFL, everyone
would be baying for blood.

I think XON was stiff, but the bottom line is, you play your best side.
If Steve Smith misses a few games and his replacement does pretty well, you don't leave Smith out of the side.

People thinking that players of the calibre of Kelly, Yeo and Shuey should be playing in the Magoo's when they're fit, especially when we're 1 and 3
are living in Laa Laa land. If you want to find a spot for Xon, that's fine, but he ain't playing in front of our A graders.

I'll be waiting for the outcry if one of them has a quiet game though.
They're not match fit though, that's the point

I think XON could have stayed in at the expense of Nelson or Langdon. Difficult because they all played well but its a lost opportunity to reward a young midfielder instead of regular older fringe players.

I actually think you would find most people would be fine in that scenario as a) xavier had earned a spot on last week b) kelly should tear the wafl apart but acknowledge he required a run c) know where out list sits and acknowledge we need to be pumping games into our younger guys and have them develop in their roles and d) know we aren’t winning squat for the foreseeable future and the better picks we have the quicker our list regenerates and we go back into contender faze quicker.

Steve Smith has nothing to do with it as fitness and match hardness and collisions with bodies has nothing to do with cricket.

Well a half done Kelly, Yeo Shuey is not worth a fully fit XON based off that last game only.

West game on the other hand was overrated. 16 possession as a full time mid isn't really that amazing. XON game was very very good 24 possession as a full time mid is what you expect but to do that as a young mid is terrific and shows his place

I just don't understand why one of shuey/kelly/Yeo couldn't step aside for just ONE week so XON could get rewarded with a follow up game. We know one of them would have knocked the door down and earned that spot back. it was just ONE WEEK. Real crooked if you ask me.

West had 16 possessions and only played 67% game time.

Likely due to reuturning from that foot problem.

That isnt bad at all IMO.

I like West, he brings intent and energy plus a bit of mongrel.

If they're not ready, you'd think the MC wouldn't be picking them.
Shuey and Kelly haven't missed that much and Yeo played half a wafl game.

Maybe they're of the opinion that getting 70 minutes out of Yeo would give you
a greater output than Xon.
The match committee headed by Simmo the bank manager have a long history of bringing back underdone senior players, all the way back to Scott Selwood 7 or 8 years ago.

You can have all of the reasons you want why Xon should play in front of Kelly.
None of them are valid IMO.

Simmo to Kelly "We know you're ready to go, but one of our kids had a decent game last week so we're going to give him another crack at your expense".
Like I said, I don't mind finding a spot for Xon but not at one of our A graders expense.

Whether it's cricket, Soccer or or whatever, you still pick the best player.
If the MC deems Kelly fit, he plays.

It’s up to the players now.

Yeo, Kelly, Shuey and Cripps have put their hand up to say they’re ready to go and Simpson has backed them in

Lose, especially if we lose big, he looks like a fool and will be justifiably criticised for repeating a mistake he’s claimed to have learned from

If we win then he’ll be vindicated especially if those 4 play well

And the best thing West, Exxon and Hough can do is have a blinder in the WAFL should they play

Look, this is the changes thread, it's really not the right place to be sensible.

I think we have too many “A graders” or “superstar” in the midfield. They’re allergic to defending apparently.

Rothams inclusion is baffling purely because I can't remember the last time he played well. Sydney do have a tall forward line but I do think us trying to turn him into a tall defender is whats ruined him. He is a liability when he's matched up to a tall forward. His match up is most likely Logan Mcdonald but Mcdonald actually coming off a 10 contested mark game in the VFL. I can see Simmo already dropping dixon into defence to plug holes

Rotham`s lack of intensity really annoys me as he could be a good Shep replacement ..He needs a lot of WAFL games to find some desperation to make the most of any AFL games he gets ..

O'Neill aside, it'll be interesting to see how Hough goes back in the WAFL. I don't mind giving the lad a rest, but hope he goes "get f’ed, I know I'm too good for this now," wrecks everyone and demands his spot back.

He won`t be in the WAFL for too long hopefully they play him as a utility in and around the midfield ..
