Fingers crossed he has a clear run for therest of the year, plays 10 + games and does well!

We need to keep a number of hungry new players in the side to maintain the pressure on and off the field.
I think Clark has the build to be a beast in the midfield. Hopefully he can build continuity and make the leap to the AFL.

Here's what changes I would suggest the club to make.

In: Shuey, Kelly, SPS, Williams.
Out: West (unlucky), L.Edwards (injured), Waterman (omitted), Nic Nat (injured).

Backs.25. Shannon Hurn37. Tom Barrass29. Luke Foley
Half Backs.23. Alex Witherden20. Jeremy McGovern14. Liam Duggan
Centre.38. Patrick Naish13. Luke Shuey30. Jackson Nelson
Half Forwards.31. Jamaine Jones.27. Jack Darling44. Willie Rioli
Forwards.7. Zac Langdon17. Josh Kennedy1. Liam Ryan
Rucks.32. Bailey Williams11. Tim Kelly8. Jack Redden
Interchange.41. Hugh Dixon19. Brady Hough / 24. Xavier O'Neill10 Sam Petrevski-Seton

While it's tempting to bring Yeo back I'd say one more week in the WAFL with increased game time to fully be ready for next week. Four changes I would be making only that's it since too much changes doesn't bode well for the club.

Cripps and Clark should play in the WAFL first and gain match fitness before being considered.

Bailey Williams should be the one to be tried as the first ruck before giving Strnadica a go since Williams was pretty good at the second half in the Norf game. Hopefully Williams plays an increased TOG than what Nic Nat plays and offers more around the ground than Nic Nat normally does otherwise the opposition will exploit this like they do with Nic Nat.

Despite Jones being down on form, I would back him in since he actually tackles and is deceptively strong despite his small frame. The dude singlehandedly held Rowell in a tackle on his own and we know how well Rowell breaks tackles.

XON should be given another chance as an inside midfielder complimenting Shuey and co. He was really good last week and I want to see him backing it up to give our senior mids a competition for their spots (goddamn CReDiTS iN THe BAnk for the senior players).

SPS should come in at the expense of Waterman/West as he can work his magic since he's now fit unlike his last match where he looked injured. Once fit he'll provide class and polish that West lacks, he also has the intent West has.

Greg Clark's limited mid so the good news if he does play is that we are willing to rotate our seniors mids out of the midfield or we have other injuries and/or covid

Excluding Free's against (which are included as clangers - I get why, but they don't really have relevance to the point you are making):

Rioli - 10 from 44 (22.5% of possessions are clangers)
Foley - 12 from 65 (18.5%)
Nelson - 7 from 50 (14%)
Hough - 6 from 37 (16%)
As long as Naish and Willie are in the team I'm happy.

I hope Willie is there. Hopefully nothing in the last few minutes of the game, where he waved the medical person away. Then in the interview after match he seemed to clutch the same spot for a split second.

Hey guys, who do we think gets dropped when Allen returns? Can BJ keep the first ruck role for the foreseeable future?
Rioli

No point keeping Willie in if BJ is in play

This surprised me because it used to be the reverse but it does highlight how Nic hasn’t had his usual influence

And more reason to like Dixons game

I'm sure it still is the reverse over all, three games is a very small sample to use, especially when they are all under rather unique circumstances

I wonder what that stat would look like with a better midfield. I wouldnt be surprised if the game against Collingwood is a statistical outlier based on who we had playing.

Dixon's ground ball game against the Pies is something worth looking out for when watching the replay - throws his body into the contest forcing the opposition out of the way and collects off the deck quite clean.

He was a beast. I wasn't that excited by him until that game. Was taking contested marks, running back into defence and spoiling, winning ground balls and halving the ruck contest so Grundy wasn't getting clean hits to advantage.

I figure that unless you end up with an elite ruck, you're much better off with a scrapper like Dixon who cost you peanuts. We've done very well out of guys like Sinclair, Vardy and Hickey. Spend your first round picks on other positions unless you know your getting a Nic Nat or Jackson. It sucked, but letting Lycett walk was the best idea.

Really don't think anything SPS has shown this year demands a walk up start and that we need to pump the hype brakes a bit with him until we see some consistency.

A lot to like, but want to see more of it.
