What is with the Levi hate? Am I missing something? Even if he is not silky clean, the meat grinder of that inside midfield group is finally working and shouldn't be changed. Why change a working formula?
I don't think there's any hate. I love Levi but am wondering how he will fit in when Swallow and Wells return.

I hope we can keep him in. Perhaps Jack to play HFF will allow this.

It's extremely tough on Levi if he has to make way because he definitely brings toughness to us. It's a win for North that we have options about who fits into the team.

Depending on availability, it's fairly simple
In: Swallow, Well, Thompson!!
Out (unlucky): Nahas, Tippett, Greenwood
Kills me to say Greenwood but he has been good without being great since the Port game, while Gibson and McKenzie keep getting better and better. To have such good players missing out is a bloody good thing though. We have some of the best depth in the league!
Btw, there's also the potential of dropping Daw and keeping Nahas depending on what structure we want to go, although I'd say at Etihad, I want to give Majak a chance to show his stuff. His game is well suited there.

Levi's productivity wanes the further along he goes. He gets 30+ touches every time he comes in and the numbers fall away quickly.

He will play against GC and hopefully he gets plenty of it or stops O'Meara instead.

And +1 to Zondor, Fyfe looked like single handedly trying to win the game in the last quarter. Yet we allowed him a pressure-less 11 touches. Beats the hell out of me.

So both us and GC are now 4-2, makes this game even bigger. I am pumped and then to think we won't be playing again for over a week is a bit deflating but anyway. All those names are firing for them. Ablett, O'Meara, Prestia, Swallow, Lynch kicking 5. It just spells 'danger game' to me.

If we can head into the bye at 5-2 boy will we be sittin pretty. I know we've had two 6-day break games in a row, and coming back from pattersons will add to the fatigue, but with a 9-day break we just have to bring it one last time before the break. Can we? Here's hoping.

Can the Greenwood clique finally admit the guy gets a ten for effort but fails by foot. It's a shame, but he just can't overcome that hurdle. He's battled admirably in the absence of Swallow and Ziebell, but seriously, the selection committee conspiring against him, it simply isn't true.

Gibbo stays in because he adds something we lack, and is elite in that regard, but a best 22 midfield has little space for Greenhead I'm afraid.

I think his decision making holds him back more than his kicking.

Just needs to know his limitations and play to them I think. Instead of going for goal in the last qtr on a tight angle, maybe centre it or hit up a target. His kicking is average, but it is still capable of hitting easy targets more often than not. But when you're not a lock in the best 22 and you know you have to perform to stay in, you'd probably be more inclined to do things that might make you stand out more.

Don't understand the calls for B-Mac to be dropped. He came on and had an impact in his short time on the field last night. I'm pretty sure Wells' 'mystery injury' will keep him side-lined for another week, and Swallow won't be rushed back, so just the one change for me.

Out: Tippett
In: Thompson

I would argue that "more often than not" could be replaced with "on occasion". He kicked it out on the full when attempting a 15m chip. Come on man, thats not going to cement a spot in the top four. Add that to the blazing away, he's a candidate for upgrading, sad but true.
And he admits himself he lapses when he should be playing tight. Not alone there.
I just dont think we can carry both he and gibbos disposal when we're already batttling for kicking across the board. But Gibbbo stays in for his elite traits.

If he was a monster at stopping then yeah ok, but is he?

If firrito didn't have such a good game last night I'd be tempted to keep tippet in and play Thompson in firritos role. I thought Tippett was very solid last night particularly in the one on ones.
Could be an added factor in Spud's form? Knowing if he didn't perform (as well as Tippett) he'd be the one dropped for Thompson's return?

Jack and Dal ran wide on Fyfe. Sure we won and that is what it's all about but that was my biggest criticism of coach all game. If there was a guy that was going to win it for Freo it was going to be Fyfe. Surely someone had to run with Fyfe?

Why he butchers the ball, we'll get it back.

no mystery, Petrie stomped on his foot. Wells has the lightest boots in the AFL so i imagine it hurt considerably. Topped off Petrie's form start to the year, thankfully the big fella redeemed himself last night.

It's a mystery insofar as they don't really know the extent of the injury though. Scans have shown nothing at all, but it's still sore. I think the club will remain cautious for that reason.

Yeah fair enough, Greenwood is never gonna have an above average kick. Not when he leans back on his left side when he kicks or whatever he does with his kicking action.

All I'm saying is for Levi to have a better chance of staying in, he has to always be on his game, he has to always play to his limitations (much like Gibbo is doing). Unfortunately he has dropped off a bit since coming in and I think will be replaced by Swallow when he's ready.

And there was a time where I thought he could become our next decent stopper, our next Brady, but that was a long time ago.

Just spitballing.......

In the interest of operation maintain Narni, do we give him a week off (two with the bye)?

Also, re Levi, maybe he is an etihad specialist these days.

Narni doesn't seem to be battling to stay fit as much this year as he has in the past. He was also ridiculously good last night, so I wouldn't want to see him go out. If there was one game I'd rest him for, it would be against Brisbane and their non-existent forward line after the break.

11 touches you say? Yep.

Yeah Freo allowed the not so accurate Sammy G to run free and where did it get them?

The bottom line is that allowing Fyfe to run free as he did was idiotic. :stern look

Who would you have put to on him, we had no suitable match up.

You're right in that no one stands out as a suitable match up but that doesn't mean you can't at least place a defensive run with player on him. I would have given the job to Basti. If you watch the replay and only pay attention to Fyfe, he is simply given too much room. He was getting it again and again. You simply got to try and stop that shit. :stern look

Sure is a danger game but I think it is a good thing that Gold Coast is only behind us with inferior percentage. No doubt Brad "Mind Games" Scotts will use this fact to our advantage ensuring we do not underestimate the Suns. :stern look
