Bryce Gibbs to do the job he did on Oliver?

Would not be averse to this.

However, Lynch in JJ out is a no-brainer, but who goes out for Gibbs? Galootch/Murphy/? The moustache was prominent in some quality forward 50 delivery against Richmond, something we've sorely lacked. Don't want to sacrifice that. I know Murphy has his knockers but he's difficult to match up on and is tenacious at the ball and the oppo and snags a goal or two...or three. Greenwood?-he keeps taking timely big grabs for timely important goals. I'm thinking Gibbs doesn't get a guernsey.

Any reason you didn't mention Douglas?

Yes. Mainly the pecking order, but I think he'll be given more chances to get his best game going, which is, regardless of the BF hate, a very good asset for us. He should be in the discussion for being dropped, but he won't be in that discussion at the selection table.

One option I would like to see is for Gibbs in for Douglas and play forward more. He's a great mark and kick.

The JJ replacement is a real challenge. Berg doesn't impact enough as yet, Sauce is just a mark and kick, then there is FOG who isn't ding enough and Davis who is nearly there

Ding enough?

For me it would be Douglas.

Hberg for Jenkins.

Unpopular, but Greenwood for Lynch.

Himmelberg is coming in for Jenkins. It doesn’t matter if you don’t agree, it’s happening and it’s unbelievably obvious.

All this talk about Jacobs being a possibility to play alongside ROB (he’s not, and the coach has publicly stated this), or Fogarty to come in (this is laughable), or that maybe Lynch will just replace Jenkins and then we’d use Lynch or Hartigan as the backup ruck (again, laughable) is not reality. Match committee aren’t even considering any of those options so give it a rest.

Himmelberg and Lynch are in (pending a Lynch fitness test). Jenkins and someone else are out. The “someone else” is probably Douglas (has been poor) or Greenwood (only stayed in due to Lynch’s calf), unless we cop an injury or illness. I’d be dropping Dougie in a heartbeat.

If a 3rd change occurs, it’ll almost definitely be one of Gibbs, Mackay or Jones coming in. The likes of Stengle, Davis, Fogarty, Jacobs, McHenry, Wilson, Poholke, Knight and Butts aren’t in the frame at all unless there is carnage at training or a viral outbreak.

If Talia doesn’t get up, Otten will come in.

If Murphy is dropped as the 3rd change to the side, Jones will come in.

If Kelly doesn’t get up, Gibbs or Mackay will come in.

If a mid goes down at training, Gibbs or Jones will come in.

On a side note, last night proved how vital it is to put a hard tag on Tim Kelly. De Boer and Houston have done absolute numbers on him and won the respective games for their sides. It clearly works if done correctly.

The question is, do we even have a player capable of doing this job on our list?

It might sound weird, but the two players I see as most suited to this job are actually both outside the current 22: Jones and Gibbs.

Greenwood and CEY are too slow, while M Crouch and B Crouch are too offensively minded.

Sloane is the other option, but he’ll be getting bashed up by the other Cats mids. I don’t love the idea of him as a tagger.

I liked the tagging job Jones did on Neale after half time in the Lions game. He is someone who can just dedicate his entire game to stopping his opponent at this stage of his career. Plus he certainly has the speed and endurance to do the job. I would go with him over Gibbs, because Gibbs to me still looks like a player who isn’t running out games too well and isn’t able to concentrate on a gig like this for 4 quarters.

A very unlucky Greenwood makes way, purely for team balance for this specific game. I’d much prefer to drop Murphy on overall output, but we need forward 50 speed and pressure too much so it upsets the balance. I’d also love to ditch Atkins, but he was genuinely really good against Richmond so it seems wrong to do so. If we are to kick a winning score, we’ll need overlap run.

Greenwood travels and stays in if Lynch doesn’t get up and plays forward.

Gibbs gets one more in the SANFL, and if he dominates again, he’s back in for the Showdown.

My changes...
In: Himmelberg, Lynch, Jones
Out: Jenkins (inj), Douglas, Greenwood

Emg: Jacobs, Greenwood, Gibbs, Otten

Such a big game.

If we lose we probably won't finish top 4, if we win we may be the real deal.

Why did it have to be in Geelong?

It had to be in Geelong because we already played them at home. And lost

I note you are dropping pretty much three forwards

who would be the best performing forward in the B's

Douglas out is a no-brainer. Worst performed and easiest to replace. Gibbs would give us so much more in an attacking, distributing or defensive role depending on the needs on the day

Going to be a fast track.

Worst scenario for us unfortunately

Two forwards and a mid go out. Greenwood played predominantly in the midfield against Richmond but can float forward.

Two forwards and a mid come in. Jones would play predominantly as a mid against Geelong if selected for the tagging role I have proposed, but can float forward.

Himmelberg is the only Jenkins replacement. He came in earlier in the season in more questionable form than he’s in now.

Lynch is a no-brainer. Best 18. Half forward.

There are no other forwards in the SANFL who are going to get AFL games any time soon. Stengle is simply Eddie’s backup, but he’s not likely to dislodge Murphy because Tyson doesn’t have that defensive capability that is required in our current setup. Fogarty is horribly out of form. Davis would only get in if neither of Lynch or Greenwood were available.

Pressure, pressure, pressure.
This!
Exactly what PA did for 4 quarters in their astonishing win (dammit!) over Geelong at AO. I thought and hoped Geelong would win, but PA had +16 clearances and +36 Contested possessions.
I didn't watch the whole game, but I reckon Pykey and Co. will.
We can only hope that Geelong will be sore and tired after only 6 days (any injuries from that game?), but I think they'll be focused, hungry and very keen to bounce back.
Big game coming, this Friday.

This is where im confused clearly said lynch for greenwood and if lynch doesnt get up greenwood stats in

Eh for JJ is a no brainer easy to understand

Then you want douglas out who has only been playing forward

We have betts and murphy still in. You would think if anyone deserves a crack up forward to replace dougy as thats where he is playing it would be stengle he has been on fire all year, we have seen what jones brings he isnt ready

Two weeks since we played, Geelong 5 days after a hiding. We finnish off well. Flat track and no wind suits us. Geelong have some old bodies they rely on. I would say if we're within 4 goals at 3/4time, we're in the match. Gws did a number on Geelong down there, we did a number on gws.

This win after losing the first game after bye, is dangerous for them. They were poor last nite, if they think its just gonna turn itself around because of an obscure stat, against a professional, hungry side. They will get pumped.

M crouch will do a job on kelly, his brother selwiod, Sloane and dangerfield will run together. Cey will give Sloane rest periods. We have three guys that can take ablett. Laird Smith or even brown. Rohan a huge loss for them. Two guys that can take Hawkins. Hartigan or Talia.
Rob will crucify Stanley, will also influence center ckearences.
What do they do with milera? Give him atkins role as sweeper at stoppages? MKe danger field accountable when breaking out of stoppages to someone physical.
Geelong like to drop men back, we like to use our spare at stoppages.

Hopefully they play Taylor on himmelberg. And himmelberg keeps presenting. Run him into the ground and create space for walker.

Were in this game big time.

Geelong showed last nite they are vulnerable to small forwards, bett we can capatalise on that?
