That might be true if Berg was the preferred chop out ruck, but I don’t remember seeing him the centre once, and if he’s not doing that role then he’s not providing anything that Gollant can’t.

On the Sub, I think Pedlar needs consistent game time but I don’t like dropping debutants either, so I would wait one more week before swapping them.
I would say Cook for sub, but he needs consistent game time too. I would consider Harley for the sub.

All the of the young guys need game time. Davis and Hateley rotate sub for next couple of weeks

Harsh on Jones. Wasn’t great on the weekend but took ownership of that defensive role last year. Can’t sack him on one bad game

I’m a huge fan of Jones and think he will make it but I’m starting to worry a bit, he needs to put more consistent performances on the board.
All I was thinking was that we need to give these guys a chance to perform for a month, if they can’t then it’s time to stop playing them. We need to know if they have a future before the end of the year.

Nice info, thanks for sharing.
It does seem strange he only played a half of footy if he is needing to improve his fitness though ?

Sorry I have to apologise, had a few beers and the person who was with me at the time corrected me today said he didnt mention fitness. I dont want to be spreading false information. Especially some one that would take the time to chat with me. Neither of us could quite remember the reason he gave, but imagine its to do with covid.

I think the after effects of covid are unknown. I just heard on the radio people suffering from something there calling "long covid". Having chronic fatigue similar to glandular fever after covid. I've had chronic fatigue from glandular fever and I was told not to train other wise I'd make it worse maybe they are building his loads up.

Out: Himmelberg / McPherson / Soligo

In: Frampton / Sholl / Pedlar.
"In: Frampton"

I'm done with Himmelberg, completely. He has to be dropped.
Himmelberg is as useful to the Crows AFL side as a trap-door in a rowing boat.

However, I'd play him every AFL game if that meant he kept Frampton out of the side.
(Did you watch the first 5 games of last season?)

All good, don't let the truth or a few beers get in the way of a good story, it is only BF :)
I appreciated all your preseason reports this year, they were great to hear

Out: Himmelburg, McPherson (inj), Soligo, Jones
In: Gollant, Pedlar, Sholl, Laird
I like it if Laird's OK, but won't happen.
Nicks loves Soligo (obviously, is only explanation for his initial selection), will give him at least another game.
Nicks will keep Jones at HB to prove he's right.

Dunno what the story is on Himmelberg; must have incriminating video.

Brown ~ Butts ~ Doedee
Smith ~ Murray ~ Hinge
Sholl ~ Schoenberg~ Dawson
Strachan ~ Crouch ~ Keays
Milera ~ Thilthorpe ~ Rowe
Rachelle ~ Fogarty ~ Gollant
Jones ~ Sloane ~ Laird ~ McHenry

Sub: Davis

Gollant for Himmelberg
Sholl for McPherson
Laird for Sogilio
Strachan for ROB

Hinge and Milera look little under done to me, but they hold there spots for another week. Hinge bigger body and Milera versatility.

Pedlar continues to build his tank in the sanfl can see him pushing Milera out of the team or potential Rowe.

Cook continues to build his tank sanfl can see him pushing sholl out if he drops off like he did last or potentially Rowe if he drops off.

I'm playing Milera fwd, while he continues to get match fitness. Can see one of Milera, Cook or Rowe fill the void left by Lynch if Dawson is moved behind the ball.

Davis is close to our 22, in line for Jones or Hinges role. Been impressed with development of an incept marking game and run and carry in SANFL. Perfect sub this week.

Everyone has there frustration with a player in our 22. Mine is ROB, I think part of our resurgence end of last year was Strachan. Our midfield performed better in my opinion and I think with a solid run of games he may find another level as he adjusts to afl. Want to see Strachan vs Grundy.

Going to be unpopular opinion, but mchenry close to getting a sanfl run to find the goals again. On the weekend in the 2nd half he miss a goal running towards goal under no pressure. He offers alot around the ground, and really comes into games when everyone else is fading out but we need goals from him, and composure. I think Taylor or Soglio will be gunning for that role very soon.

Well, Sloane getting off and reports Laird will be fit are interesting.
Harsh on Jones, but with Dawson more suited to half back and a seemingly long line of half backs, Jones misses out for me.

Out: Himmelburg, McPherson (inj), Soligo, Jones
In: Gollant, Pedlar, Sholl, Laird

Brown ~ Butts ~ Doedee
Smith ~ Murray ~ Dawson
Sholl ~ Crouch ~ Schoenberg
O'Brien ~ Laird ~ Keays
Sloane ~ Thilthorpe ~ McHenry
Rachelle ~ Fogarty ~ Gollant
Pedlar ~ Milera ~ Hinge ~ Rowe
Sub: Jones
No way that line up works, too tall down back. This is Collingwood this week so their forward set up will be something like this:
Mihocek(192) - Murray
Cox(211) - Butts
DeGoey(188) - Doedee??
Ginnivan(185) - Smith
O'Henry(189) - Dawson
Elliot(178) - Brown
Daicos(178) - when he rolls through there??

If Jones was dropped who do you roll back in there for their smalls, Laird maybe as Hinge will play wing. Would actually prefer Dawson on wing too, hence I would drop Milera before Jones.

i would actually like Davis in the side to release Dawson/Hinge on the wings and give Laird another week

This is correct ....6 weeks now since tested neg after CoVid ....4 days a week feel great, then one day I'll wake up and feel sick & lethargic ...next day, wake up & fine again

Normally walk 4-6 km's a day ....last week, walked 200 mtrs from car to shopping centre, and was completely out of breath

Himmelberg was bad .....moreso when we don't have the ball ....and he's simply not getting to enough contests

I'd be inclined to play Strachan as a FWD / RUCK ....couldn't be any worse ....or Gollant for Himmelberg, although not sure Gollant is 100% ready for AFL yet .....he needs to one grab his marks more, as AFL pressure will be greater than a SANFL trial match

Same here ....negating ruckman, who if he's not marking around the ground ...is a liability

ROB ....when on song, has repeat efforts, and tackles .....nothing resembling that on the weekend

Conversely, Strachan is the better tap ruckman, better kick ....and more flexible ....the only concern, can he play 80% on ball, as ROB does ?

For this week, we should play both our ruckmen. It gives us cover for Cox and wears Grundy down better. Also, if resting forward, gives Darcy Moore a better challenge by having a stronger marking option than EH.
One last point for me, I would like to see more of Strachan at the top level. Grundy vs Strachan is a great opportunity to judge whether our SANFL ruckman is actually far better than many think.
