Think we are getting Brisbane at the right time, I watched their game this week and our backline should matchup well with their forwards. I wouldn’t be making any changes to that unit.

But I wouldn’t be surprised if we gave a few guys a rest though. It’s been an intense fortnight of contested footy.

Think Eddie could use a freshen up, as well as Brad to get the burst back into his legs (but if Matt’s out that wont happen).

I know he scored 2 goals but I think Knight could use a spell in the Magoo’s. Get Chayce back in to play the exact same role (I genuinely think he can do it better already).

With Brown back and our defence doing so well we don’t need Gibbs back there.

Reckon it’s Gibbs in for Galluci to play half forward role.

I would not worry about giving anyone a designated rest.

We have the bye round 14. We play Thursday the 13th of June and our next game is the 28th of June. Thats a 15 day break to freshen up

Between now and then, we have Brisbane, West Coast, Melbourne (away) and Richmond fore playing Geelong after the bye. All must wins at this point of the season.

the club will manage their workload during the week to freshen them up over this period.

Maybe a few can have a rest in the back half of the season but not right now!

If you're going to win the flag, I think you need a core group of 28-30 players who are all able to come in and seamlessly fit into the team. This means not necessarily playing your best 22 EVERY single week. Instead you need to get games into the guys who are around the fringes of the team. The best way to do this is to REST players who have niggles or are on the wrong side of 30 years old.

An example this week would be M Crouch and Betts. They will both likely train well during the week and be declared fit to play, and hold their place in the team. I think a better solution is to give them a rest for a week (or two). In the meantime you bring in a non best 22 player like Stengle or McHenry and give them games.

You do this all through the season, hopefully leading to a less fatigued group of senior players come finals time. In the event of an injury to a player on the eve of the finals, the coaches have faith that the next bloke can step in and fill their shoes, rather than being forced to play an injured, or semi-injured player.

As much as we all love Eddie, I think he needs a week or 2 off to freshen up.

It’s a bit like the Thommo situation in 2016. Probably needs more than a week or 2 off. Needs a plan that has him fit and firing around September. That might mean no footy for a month or more and then a game and training roster that keeps him fresh for every game that he takes the field. We need to throw the cult of continuity out the window though. Having said that, Thommo’s failing body was a fair bit more obvious though. Reason behind Eddie’s lack of output isn’t as obvious.

What playing Eddie does is it takes out an opposition defender. No club would let Eddie run around uncontrolled. He still has value. I would love to see him fix his set shot kicking.
It's a sad day when players like Eddie & Tex biggest value is as decoys.

Yeah getting the same feeling, Think Gooch will end up somewhere between Dmac and Dougie in the big picture. Could easily get to 200 games as a solid player but not outstanding.
At the moment he's got a long way to go just to reach the standard of DMac.

Betts needs to be rested/managed. No goals, no goal assists and no tackles is a pretty lousy game and would see anyone else dropped.

Jones comes in because he is better than Gallucci.

Out: Betts (rested), Gallucci
In: Stengle, Jones

Gibbs only comes in if Crouch is ruled out.

Can't see us changing much.

In: Gibbs
Out: Galluci

might be the only change. Seed will probably come back via the twos.

In the coming weeks I would like to see

In: Seedsman, Milera, McHenry
Out: Atkins, McKay, Knight

And if Gibbs spuds it up, then Jones in for him.

For balance, I would prefer Gibbs instead of Kelly as Brown is a lockdown player like Kelly. Need another good ball user in addition to Smith & Laird.
