Read the post before calling people mad half cocked

I did..

You wrote;

“maybe murphy out keep Rachele in”

Its the “maybe” thats the issue with that comment!.

WTF would anyone in their right mind put the word “maybe” in that sentence!..

It should read;

“murphy out if anyone.. rachele definitely stays in and there should NEVER be any instance where murphy stays in and rachele doesnt”!!!…

Leadership? Apart from Tex and Dawson the experienced heads have not stood up when needed.
I guess it's hard to know, as we've shown a lot of improvement this year and the kids, by and large, are in a better spot than last year. But I'm not sure what ROB, Keays and Smith are also adding. ROB and Keays maybe training standards?

So today is Sloane day, does he keep his spot with Rankine returning and Rachelle needing a game? Having re-signed him will Nicks try and save face and pick him despite being worst on ground?
Sloane will play, won't be sub.

Murphy will play for reasons.

My bet is Borlase out Rankine sub.

94You probably rate them higher as they were part of a super successful era but rebuilding Brisbane had Birchall and Hodge running around until 34-35 and they had similar or more experienced players within their squad

Melbourne had Jordan Lewis running around even though they had a lot more experience players in their squad when he was 34

They obviously recruited those guys in for peanuts and I agree - it’s a bit different as they had been a part of great success. It does illustrate though that clubs crave experience in the group and even with Sloane on the list our list is still very thin on 100 gamers

I put something up the other week that the Lions are running around with about 14 blokes with 150 games plus in their team each week - as did the Cats last year to win the flag.

From memory Port, Collingwood and Melbourne are all double digits in 150 gamers playing week in week out.

Not saying Sloane is the answer - I wouldn’t have signed him - but I get all teams, without exception, want as much experience in the squad as they can get and we obviously value Sloane for that

Crows’ burning question: Does Ben Keays move out of the forward line if Izak Rankine returns?

Ben Keays’ versatility is proving a weapon for the Crows — and it hasn’t gone unnoticed by Fox Footy’s David King. Keays has kicked a goal in all but two matches since Round 9, easily doubling his goal scoring efforts from last season. But it’s his ability and willingness to work up and back that his impressed King. “I think Ben Keays is the hardest worker in the game and I’d say he’s the best teammate in the game right now,” he said on AFL 360. “This guy’s role he is performing to absolute perfection. It’s not just what he’s doing with the ball, but it’s his running and defensive actions – it’s the things we really want to see. This guy’s working himself into the ground.” As a forward, Keays has an AFL competition ranking of second behind only Charlie Curnow. There’s a tricky conundrum for Adelaide though. With star goalkicker Izak Rankine expected to return from a hamstring issue this week, Keays could be forced out of the forward line — a move King warned the Crows against doing. King said: “I seriously hope they don’t move this guy out and fall for him playing in the midfield.”

Cook is about the most obvious wingman I've ever seen

It's been so long since we've had a genuine wing we've forgotten what they look like
I know Seeds been out for a couple of years now but it wasn't that long ago

Why have skillful wingman when you can have murphy and Keays kicking it to your forwards

Keays can stay in the forward line. It's not hard.

Either drop Murphy or give Izak and Pedlar more midfield time.

Even David King doesn't know we have Murphy running around for us

Yes. Last week month that has been the case. My numbers were from the first half of the year before Charlie, Lycett, McKenzie, Boak etc were playing

Experience isn't any good if they are cooked
I could even accept a cooked Sloane in the side if he broke close to even, he is giving up goals literally to the opposition.

He should be getting the 3 votes for his game for Essendon, he was the difference that day giving up around about 4 goals.

It’s interesting that the couple of prime years Sloane had, it was his gut running back and forth that propelled him. You’d see Sloane as an extra player in defence and 25 seconds later he’d be an extra on the HFF. It is gut runners like that which allow a team to constantly out number the opposition at the contest wherever it is in the ground.

Keays and Rankine cannot co-exist on the same forward line, both are small, aglie, quick thinking, quick acting forwards with sublime skills in and out of traffic. David King is a gun analyst.

Its how valuable Keays has been overall to our structure in that fashion that is what gets him a gig each week. That and that he is now regularly hitting the scoreboard mean he is always a best 22 player - and it does not need to be as a primary mid but he is a role player

Interesting idea/comment .

I agree with your assessment of their skillsets but I wonder if it works more or hinders?

Off the top of my head I think Keays plays chaos footy ie he goes for the ball to the detriment of anyone else ie eyes for the ball. This should be cultivated like tomatos on the vine not left to grow wild like it currently is.

Whereas I see Rankines game as one being of pathways through the chaos . ie he sees the best options ( for him) and works hard to make it happen - and then he doesnt.

Can they work together? In a well drilled 2 sides of the oval team I think it can - but currently they are not meshing. Maybe a better coach or even the 2 players sitting down and talking might help

His prime years he was the best two way midfielder in it.

Easy answer is play Izak primarily in the midfield. What he showed in the Melbourne game was enough for me to show he will be an elite mid if he plays there mainly
If he is hamstring isnt 100%, I would start him forward.

In theory, I agree he should be in the midfield if he is 100% fit, however we have Sloane in the engine room, we should be fine.....:$

But I'm not sure what ROB, Keays and Smith are also adding. ROB and Keays maybe training standards?
Keays is also their Energiser Bunny --- never stops, never gives up, runs hard both ways and sets the bar for fitness and effort. His role now as roaming/connecting forward seems to make best use of him, given his no-R-foot limitations.

Sorry that was sarcasm about Keays sublime skills, they are both different players to me :D Having them in the same forward line works really well, perhaps Pedlar Murphy Keays Rachele wont work together but Peds and Rachele rotate through the middle and off the bench a bit more.

If you watch the Melbourne game Rankine did play up the ground a lot more off the square. His creativity around the ground ball and traffic is second to none
