I swear half this board must be sturts mum.

He had six possessions for the game. Didn’t kick a goal. Banfield had 16. Yeah he made an error that’s because he was in the play. Unlike Sturt. I don’t think Sturt actually touched the ball in the 2nd and 3rd quarters.
Despite that, the impact on the game was similar because Banfield doesn’t impact the game outside being the last link in a chain for goal.

I said it was a marginal call and I stick by that. First game back was what I expected for Sturt, simply hitting two targets inside 50 is worth its weight in gold in this team

Chol’s arm was literally still wrapped around Banfields even after they separated. Should’ve been a free, Banfield should’ve been stronger, and wouldn’t have fallen for the candy. But the arm chop was still there
The arm chop was there but it shouldn't have been enough to stop the mark. He had most of it and the arm chop was quite soft.

Did you not see him deliver that kick i50 to Amiss?

Did you not see him consistently running into the right spots, presenting, creating space in the FWD line for Amiss, running down the wing ect? Did you not see him actually lead at the ball carrier in that last play?

If you didn't maybe watch the game again. It's his first AFL game in 2 years due to multiple injuries and getting his body right and you're saying he doesn't have it, just moronic and lacking a basic understanding of what football IQ looks like.
6 possessions in a whole game where we kicked 100 points. I guess his team mates didn’t think he was in the “right spots”.

What was unforgivable was his obvious hearing of footsteps thus not positioning his body to protect the ball drop. Hardly an arm chop - or a free kick.

He then got baulked by a 6 and a half footer 🙀
This was last few minutes of the game. Most players were out on their feet. Lol

Keep a winning team. Only Brodie for Switta if there are no forced changes.

Ras to be the sub.

I like the forward line of Jackson as CHF and Amiss as FF with Sturt, Freddy, Walters, Shooter and Banfield nipping at their heels
Wouldn’t mind seeing Sturt in Swittas role and Corbett or Erasmus (who ever performs) in Sturts role.

As you said Brodie on.

Banners or JOM as sub.

C Cameron had 14 disposals against the Pies and kicked?
Forwards are judged differently to others.
Especially the way we play.

He’s too slow for AFL footy. Struggles to get from contest to contest. His weapon was his kicking which has gone down the tubes.
He’s not slow, he runs sub 3 seconds in the 20m. As per my initial post, I think he’s suffered from having to play with Tabs. So I’d like to see how he goes without tabs in the side

Did it ever occur to you that the reason Amiss was taking more marks on the lead and in more 1 on 1 contests was Sturt was leading to a different spot? Rather than old Tabs getting in the way?

One of the most important functions of forwards is to actually spread out to positions where they won't get the ball.

Fritsch averaged under 10 possessions over 2021-22. It's not a position that lends itself to high possession numbers. Sturt still needs to get a little bit more involved, but he doesn't need to do too much more. You can't expect him to knock it out of the park in his first senior game in years.

Did it have a freo oval type vibe

I haven't seen a game at Freo oval so I can't compare.

Despite its dimensions, Norwood Oval has a bit of history and is a heritage site about 2km east of Adelaide. Its right near 'The Parade', which is a bit of an elegant part side of Adelaide - lots of cafes, restaurants, niche shops etc.

To the frustration of WA viewers, surely the game was played late afternoon on a Friday to bring in as much revenue to Norwood pre and post game and leaving the night-life side of things to the city.

Adelaide does have a good feel to it at the moment, there are lots of general AFL fans with their kits around the city and people are definitely up and about a lot more.

The reason these games are sold out is that they are pretty well-priced with most tickets being about $20-$40 - surely subsidised to bring revenue into SA. I imagine that all cities around Australia will be making a pitch to get the Gather Round next year. Going to the double-header tomorrow, should be a good couple of games, question is do I wear my Freo juju or go as a bystander?

He certainly stopped some of their run out of defence.

Changes can be difficult when young players are involved.

There’s a ‘give them a taste’ mentality.

There’s a ‘needs a block of games’ mentality.

If given 3-4 games then you can judge on the body of work.

Sturt needs a block of games in my opinion. He showed glimpses. He has potential and is the type of player we do need.

Henry was given a block. He showed some quality stuff that made you think he’s capable but he also showed some horrendous stuff.

For me I think the club believes it’s a ‘contender’. That may minimise games to Erasmus, Johnson, Amiss, Henry, Sturt etc. Those are the exact guys that will either take us to the next level or not.

Also persist with Walker. Love what he brings despite the howlers he can make. How old is he again?

Looks like nobody picked up on the sarcasm :(
no. Thought your post was actually serious, you garnered quite the dislikes! Can't accuse us of not being passionate :tearsofjoy: You have to be careful with stuff like this cos we're all sensitive little boys (and girls) and we've all been calling for Sturt for weeks. can't believe he hadn't played since 2021!! He was far from the 'shining light', but I never expected him to be. He did, however, do enough and I hope he gets a run...as said before me, if Henry gets a run of 4, I can't see why Sturt doesn't. If he's given time, I think he'll add more than not ;)
