it's irritating as well because we have most definitely seen a concerted effort from players this season to tackle better and not dump players as the season has gone on, bar a couple. there seems to be no thought given to momentum or just that big, aggressive looking tackles will still happen. it still is a contact sport after all

Is it time to unleash Chayce Jones into midfield ?

I’d be tempted this week to give him 40-50% in there

smith to half back , hinge to wing / half back

I thought the umpires let the tackles go on a bit longer in this game as well.
Some of the games this year they’ve been red hot on blowing the whistle early in the tackle to avoid players having to throw them down.

Particularly in the 1st half they just let things go, then became trigger happy in the 3rd quarter.

Compare to other games this round where the umpires have been quick to make decisions.

yeah it's definitely happened like that too, especially with players being given an eternity to get rid of the ball now.

Prediction: The Laird suspension will remind us that we have little midfield depth as Anderson, Rowell, Holman and Co bully us around the ball. We’ll lose on Saturday. Mark it down.
It's a bad week for Laird to be out if the suspension holds up. Rowell is the only mid i'm really worried about as he's an extractor. Maybe Keays can just sit on him and tackle him at every opportunity. It's a good week to give more mid time to Soligo, Pedlar and Rachele and see how they stack up away from home as well.

So if you elect to tackle, and the player goes to ground, you know the risks? WTF?

Last season an throughout the history of the game a perfectly legal tackle. This year suspension worthy despite no official rule change.

How many half arse, pointless tackles have crept into the game the past few weeks? They dont dispossess or stop the ball carrier from getting rid of the ball and theres no chance they result in a free kick for HTB =Token tackles.

This game is effd.

Buggar, we are not going to get Laird off with this tribunal so resting Sloane can wait another week.

Ins: Hinge, Smith
Outs: Laird, Parnell

B: Michalanney, Butts, Murray
HB: Smith, Worrell, Milera
C: Jones, Dawson, Hinge
HF: Pedlar, Walker, Rachele
F: Thilthorpe, Fogarty, Rankine
R: O'Brien, Keays, Soligo
I: Doedee, Sloane, Sholl, McHenry
Sub: Murphy (managed)

We can rotate Soligo, Keays, Pedlar Rachele, Sloane (later in the game), Jones & McHenry all through the middle... with Dawson a mainstay.

No need for Crouch.
