And I’ll also say the following week we will be flat against West Coast but it probably won’t matter.

If the were fair dinkum, Western Bulldogs should have the bye this week and we should next week. Gold Coast do have the bye returning from Darwin after our game.

And guess who Bulldogs play after having been to Darwin, Geelong!

Seriously, can the AFL suck Geelong off any more?

Can we please understand that Darwin is entering the dry season.

It won’t be 30C at the first bounce, it will be somewhere in the mid-20’s (24-26C) and the humidity will be around 40% mark.

The Darwin day time temperatures will be 30C for the whole week.

And to give you some perspective, the humidity during yesterdays game in Adelaide fluctuated between 80-95%.

If there is one person who will know how to manage this it will be Burgess.
I’ll happily take your word on it. Was just just going by the forecast, which predicted a hot evening this Saturday. But that wasn’t the BOM, so I can see how I got that one wrong.

No problem, lived up there for 3 1/2 years and whilst it is still warm it ain’t as bad as the wet season.

Just read the forcast. Game is going to be 26 degrees with potentially 85% humidity. Have to assume at sunset it will be Dewy as all hell, as well as the players sweat making the ball like a 1kg chunk of soap.

Gonna be a super taxing and sloppy game IMO. Feel like we are gonna need good runners and clean kicks in the side. I'd be finding a way to keep McHenry and Sholl in TBH. Also bringing back Hinge is a must.

Maybe drop Butts and let Worrell go to Luko. Wouldn't be surprised if Sloane is due for a rest game too.

I noted people being a little critical of Butts, but seemed to ignore that Hipwood had 3 disposals. Not sure what more Butts could do.

Selection super tough this week:

MUST play defenders:
Butts
Murray
Max
Milera
Smith
Hinge
Worrell
Doedee

That's 8. We can have 7 but not 8.
Worrell is a must play. He's simply an AFL player.

The only option is to move someone up the field. Maybe Hinge to the wing? Then what? Sholl out? He had 25 on the weekend and did very little wrong.

So tough.

It certainly won’t be 85 percent humidity at the start of the game, but possibly will be by the end. We’ve had awesome weather the last week but it does look like being a little more humid by the weekend. Nothing like our wet season though. Around 26 degrees at the start, around 23 or 24 by the end.

Suns have King, Luko and Casboult (plus Jeffrey), so we’ll need a bit of extra height to combat them down back

For me it's pretty simple.

In: Hinge, Smith
Out: Sholl, Murphy

Some may say harsh on Sholl, but he's still a liability on defence and needs clean service to be effective.

Hinge and Smith are automatic ins and this could perhaps be the strongest side we've put on the park all year.
Yep... Sholl is definitely a liability in defence... That's his biggest weakness... He's been too easily beaten quite a few times already this season...

But I think it's demote McHenry first before sholl...

Hard to pick, would have to see the matchups

I hate this kind of option. Once you start shuffling to put players in then it gets messy

Understand the dilemma but Smith can have another week off. Does he need to fly?

We talk about being clever why not give an extra week for Smith?

No strapping during the club song

I think he must have been cramping up because he definitely looked uncomfortable and in pain as he came off the field, I was worried at the time that he did his hammy again.

Then after the game he seemed perfectly fine walking down to the race so it must have just been cramp

Oh my, after this trip to TIO we only play at genuine AFL stadiums for the rest of the year.

Feel like Moses coming in from 40 years in the Wilderness.
Will we know how to get there?

They need somebody to be able to clear the defensive lines.

The defence held up well against Brisbane. But the possession leaving defence did not. Yesterday's game was notable for multiple periods of ~10/15 minutes where the ball did not leave Brisbane's forward 50.

A bye as well in after the West Coast match. 3 weeks off ?

Wet conditions meant we played it safe long down the line. Unfortunately it meant we got pinned in for very long periods though we were able to limit the damage amazingly enough. In better conditions I'd imagine we'd have been a bit more adventurous but last thing you want in these conditions is to try be to clever then turn it over.... see Daniel Rich for proof of that.

Considering they were going to play Smith instead of McHenry anyway. Maybe nobody.

The last time Adelaide played at Adelaide oval in similar conditions Smith had 37 touches and 1 brownlow vote. It would have been ideal for him.

Also Brisbane took 3 shots from very long range early, scoring their first 2 goals from them (including one from Rich). Then only took 2 more from 50+ for the entire match. Perhaps they missed a trick by not having Rich firing in long range speculators rather than high-risk kick ins?

A friend sitting nearby said Radio called it bad cramping as reason for the sub
