Good win today, but lets look at next week

Out: Otten (inj/ rest), Martin

In: Davis, Edwards

Even if Otten comes up, might be good for him to have a break and freshen up for finals, and will be a good chance for us and the coaches to have a look at Davis

Martin has been good, but Edwards is an automatic selection

What changes would you make?

Agree with those changes. Really harsh on Martin who has been more than handy in his first two games but Edwards provides so much more. If Otten doesn't pull up then Walker would be a great addition to our forward line. Tippett, Burton, Walker, Knights, Porplyzia and Dangerfield. What a nightmare front six to match up on. Just so hard to stop them scoring as long as our midfield is working hard.

Out: Otten (driver), Martin
In: Walker, Edwards

Cats lost Scarlett and Taylor against the Hawks, and not too sure if they are going to come up in time. Addition of Walker will stretch their defense, and make our forward line very, very dangerous. Stevens to slot back into Ottens role as I don't think we need the extra tall against the Cats as their midfielders and small forwards are the dangers.

Johncock Rutten Stevens
Doughty Bock Symes
Vince Edwards Reilly
Knights Tippett McLeod
Dangerfield Walker Porplyzia
Maric Thompson Goodwin

Int: Shirley, Sellar, Burton, Van Berlo

Out: Otten (inj) Dangerfield
In: Walker Edwards

I know, I know Dangerfield

BUT,
Martin 18 possesions at 94% efficiency doesn't deserve to be dropped. For everything Dangerfield does for the team, I'd like to him have a rest before the finals. This week would be good (and keep him away from Geelong!)
Then again, it might be a bit cruel not to play him where his family can go and watch!! Perhaps we just see who pulls up a bit sore??

Walker a must in, Stevens to cover for Otten. This also allows us to see how Walker and Burton go in the same forward line.

We may have a few reports.

Reilly -kicking is not looked upon kindly - may get a week even though it was not forceful.

A few trips -Dogga not sure if it is serious enough? One other.. both may get a reprimand.

INS: Edwards, Davis.

OUTS: Otten (if injured), Reilly if suspended.

Martin adds much to our team. His pace is really important.

If Reilly is not suspended then only one change. Edwards for Otten.

I really want to see Tippett, Burton and Walker all in the forward line at the same time, Walker getting the 3rd best defender excites me.

The presence of Burton free's up Tippett and Walker which is where Im sure Craig will be happy with the most.

what I want
Out: Otten (inj.), some random
In: Davis, Edwards

what I think
Out: Otten (inj.)
In: Edwards

Stevens to drop back. Edwards into the midfield. More time from Porps/Knights/Danger up forward

May struggle to get off. Intentional (can't see how it would be anything but), low imapct, contact to body. A level 2 offence that carries 250 activation points or a 2 match suspension. Early plea and good record will bring this back to 1.

I think Dogga is fine.

is it fair to say, that burton's encouraging form could stunt the development of walker..? i for one would like walker in next week for otten if he's unavailable.. as stevens would move into defence, and walker can take stevens forward line position..

if martin is injured, edwards comes in for him if fit.

geelong missing scarlett and taylor, might be able to stretch them down forward with walker coming in

(had to copy and paste this from another thread, not realizing there was a 'changes vs geelong' thread going on)

Yeah I guess no reason to recall Walker, it's not as though he kicked 7 goals, put in a 4 quarter performance and worked on the one aspect that was holding him back, defensive effort. :thumbsu:

Honestly Riggy, you're useless, delist.

In: Davis, Walker
Out: Otten (inj), Martin

If Edwards is fit, find one more to drop.

Otten has a corkie and should pull up. If he doesn't Davis will make his debut.
Zooma is a automatic in. He would probably push one of Radar, Shirley or Martin out.
Walker has to play but im unsure who should drop out for his inclusion.

In: Walker, Edwards
Out: Otten, Martin

Harsh on Martin but he has had a taste of it, but cannot hold out Edwards. Even if Otten is deemed to be 'fit' could still go for a rest to freshen up before finals. 22 rounds + finals is a looong time.

In: Davis, Walker, Edwards (if fit), Mackay (if fit)
Out: Otten (thigh/rest), Martin (unlucky), Shirley, Stevens???

2nd / 3rd outs are very tough
4th out if Mackay is fit is ridiculously tough.

Iunno, will probably just be Davis or Walker for Otten.

I'm with Drummond here. Walker was truly outstanding yesterday at Parade. Performances back at SANFL good and attitude great. I think Crows are just trying to protect him/prolong his AFL year. The boy is WAY too good for SANFL.

If Otten out, Stevo back, Walker in. Geelong will have no tall defenders, must try to stretch them. We are a sneaky chance with their injuries

Danger could rotate more into the mid-field if Walker is brought in. Stevo to the backlines or out (harsh I know, but his form has been down for last two weeks) if Otten is ok. Edwards automatic in if fit - possibly Martin out if his knee comes up sore. Shirley should be a certain starter judging on the quality of the midfield we are facing next week.

Unfortunately there's no chance Mackay comes back next week. Given that he spent virtually the entire 2007 on the sidelines with a hamstring complaint I think it would be foolish to risk aggravating it any more. Give him time to heal it properly even though he's my 2nd favourite player and I really miss having him out there.

Were we watching the same game last week? There were pretty much 3 good players and Stevens was one of them. 16 possessions and 2 goals was a good return in a side that was destroyed. One of the quietest games of his career today but that's more to do with the fact there really wasn't anyone for him to take in defence. He'll be required next week to stretch their defence especially if Scarlett and Taylor are both out. :thumbsu:

The only two players who are at risk of being dropped for this game are Martin and Symes IMO.

Symes out for Walker
Martin for Edwards
Otten for Davis?
I've got to admit, I thought about the possibility of dropping Symes. However I then thought about Geelong and their strong bodies so he'll probably be needed. His form has been pretty good, hasn't done a lot wrong to be dropped but I understand that selection will be extremely tough if Edwards is fit.
