With a blatant punch from Pickett getting just a fine. The punch from Fogarty getting just a fine.

The worse head high bump in the GWS v Hawthorn game getting just a fine.
He should change his name to Tom Hawkins - no way would he be suspended then.

Just wait until we win this one and all the Hinkley junkies are up and about again! Can't wait!

Can we just fast forward to the Melbourne drubbing that's inevitably set to follow and start focussing on 2023 with a new coach.

Just pick a ****ing ruckman. What did Jeremy Finlayson give us on the weekend that an actual ruck couldn't?

Lets not forget that Lycetts form prior to his injury was worse than any other ruck we have used this year. We improved when Hayes came in and remained better at clearances when Teakle, Finlayson and Dixon were given the job. Until the reasons for Lycetts poor form have been addressed, whether they be tactical, physical or emotional, I can't be optimistic he will be a help for the team.

Won the clearances against Brisbane with Lycett rucking.

We absolutely smashed Hawthorn in clearances 54-30. Despite losing the hitouts just as convincingly. That game wasn't lost in clearances work around stoppages. That game was lost through appauling forward entries where we turned the ball over, or kicked points then watched Hawthorn just run the ball down the other end to kick a goal.

Level on clearances with the Crows.

Got beaten up by Melbourne around the stoppage. Lycett broke his shoulder before half time, we and lost clearances 30-39. The Crows just dominated hit outs 57-13 against a Melbourne side without a ruckman. The Dees won clearances 39-34. With no ruckman. Lycett with a busted shoulder was competing against Gawn and Jackson. But he was useless.

In fact, the only times Port has been convincingly beaten up around stoppages this year has been while we've had our great tap ruck man playing that is supposedly giving our midfielders silver service.

Lycett sucks

With the exception of the Showdown Lycett was opposed to two ruckmen. Against Brisbane it was McInerney and Fort, against Hawthorn it was Reeves and McEvoy, against Melbourne it was Gawn and Jackson. Some of our best form last year was when Lycett and Ladhams were playing in tandem yet we traded Ladhams and then chose to start off with a single ruckman against two 200cm opponents. Sure Lycett did not get away to a good start but our ruck strategy was dumb and has not improved.

If Lycett is fit he has to play, Finlayson and Dixon are not ruckmen. At least if we use Lycett with Dixon as backup we are not disadvantaged for height.

This is why we should have been playing Hayes ages ago. It would have helped Hayes' development and helped Lycett shoulder the load.

Unfortunately we have coaches that can't see more than a week into the future.

In fairness, we were too busy developing Ladhams - from late 2019 to the end of 2021, pumping 32 games into him, including 4 finals.

And then we traded him.

For nothing.

Ladhams was dropped a few times, most notably for being a complete idiot off the field. There was always opportunities to bring in Hayes in Ladhams absence.

Surely we have to play a ruckman after losing the hitouts 51-22 and the centre clearances 19-10?
