But why male models.

This would be a very good opportunity to play Rotham, regardless of whether Hurn plays.
I think he has more obvious matchups than Cole, given that Sydney have Blakey, McCartin and Florent, all of whom are between 189-194cm.
I wouldn't trust Cole on Papley - too good in the air and too crafty around stoppages. Shep ought to go to him.

If Hurn is injured Rotham.

Waterman in that 3rd qtr came into Darlings fwd role and thats where he belongs but thats not going to happen. He was very good in that role. But WCE dont play him there long enough and gets up the ground and his disposal around the ground is very questionable..

Playing Swans at SCG i question the height we have. I think Waterman will be unlucky. Its hard now with Nic Nat coming back shortly to find the best Ruck and Key Fwd set up. My thoughts the whole time that Jake Waterman is just not going to get a good go at it.

Nic Nat is 29 has a few years left and will be in a tandem ruck combo, JK is signed on for 2020. JD has yrs left. Oscar Allen has gone ahead of Waterman and i believe Brander will also soon enough.

Well that's a turn around from Waterman not being AFL quality!

So now he is good enough when played in the correct position.

Nic only ever played 60-70% game time at his peak, so we wouldn't just need a pinchhitter - especially after two knee recos. We'd need a fully competent ruckman to cover him.

There's a reason why Lycett was chosen over Vardy when we had all our ruckman available in 2018.

Nic plays his 60 to 70% minutes as the ruck in the midfield and rests on the bench. We are now more than ever happy for the ruck load to be shared around Darling, Oscsr forward, McGovern and Barrass in defense. They all chip in at either end and Nic takes centre bounces and midfield stoppages. No need for him to run back and forward the full legnth of the ground to every stoppage. We want quality not quantity from everyone.

It wont happen this season sure but fingers crossed he has a good run, the guy deserves a decent period to just play footy.

No you don't understand. Rotham is two inches taller than Cole which makes them "totally different"' so if we made that switch, that would subvert "the formula" and open a vortex and our whole back six would get sucked into the space between dimensions. We can't risk it.

Are you telling me that a team that won a premiership playing three tall defenders can afford to replace a 185cm defender with a more athletic 192cm defender? Don't be ridiculous.

One is "small". One is "not small". They're therefore completely different players, despite playing roughly similar positions. These are the rules of the universe.

Unfortunately 2 into 1 doesn't go - when all fit JK is FF and Darling CHF which leaves only 3rd forward option left for Waterman. Once JK retires then would think Darling will be FF and Waterman can then play in his preferred position. Similar scenario re Sheed being played in his non preferred until Gaff got suspended following his brain fade.

21 touches, 7 uncontested marks. Totally stole Darlings role.

First goal after pushing back inside 50, so after running a mile he presents another lead after Kennedy's and gets an uncontested mark through work rate. If he's one of top two key forwards he gets checked here. Those at the ground would have seen him run from the back side of the wing for this.

Second goal, loose ball get and snap.

Third goal, classic third tall mark inside 50 after defenders find themselves out of position marking the true KPF.

Jake won't ever be a power forward, won't get Darlings upper body size in spite him being more or less the same height. As a forward Jake is much more like LeCras or Kennedy, lacks speed for separation but works his opponent over with lead after lead and timely body work.

Not that it's needed and not that I'd support it. Rotham can replace Cole, ditto Waterman can replace LeCras. I rate Cole as highly as Shep, at the moment he's the last defender picked after Schofield but he proved himself again and again and will be around for some time. I doubt Simpson views his performance as poor at all, he's the one getting the shit jobs and some of his errors are the result of rubbish that the team defence lets through.

Because of the ground dimensions of the SCG don't they say you don't really need a CHF which means if I'm not misreading things that we shouldn't go in too tall?
After all these years Sydney still dont have an AFL quality ground to play on. What a joke that teams have to consider going onto games without key position players to prepare for that postage sized slogfest. And it looks like it will be snowing there this week so that will make for even more of a spectacle.

Kennedy is pretty powerful. The better model for Waterman might be someone like Jack Gunston.

The SCG has traditionally given us fits. We're going for our first victory there since 1999. 0-7 since then.

We’ve played some strong Sydney lineups in that time..
We should be able to crack this younger Sydney team and break the drought even though this will probably be the strongest team Sydney have fielded this year ..

Out: Hurn
In: Rotham

Would like to see Nelson get a run to make Papley his bitch again but Rotham gets the nod given he is stronger overhead than Nelson. We also need a good foil with Jetta to rebound through or we will get shut down too easily. Shep will do more counter attacking too, I reckon, which will be exciting.
