AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
Not linking this because it’s relevant to us (although it does hint we might bid on Fletcher with pick 12) but this bit caught my attention :
“With his dad clearing the 100-game qualification threshold, Fletcher would’ve been eligible to be drafted by Brisbane as a father-son selection. But as Fletcher has been part of the club’s Academy for around six years, he doesn’t have to officially nominate as a father-son prospect before Wednesday‘s deadline.”
So Fletcher doesn’t have to nominate as a father/son because he qualifies as an academy player. So if Fletcher had played 8 less games for Brisbane (he played 107) they would still have first dibs on the son of a 200 game AFL player because of the academy
I guess there must have been some danger Jaspa would play rugby league. FFS
I wouldn't complain with either Lemmey or Sculley with 27 if they're on the board.
Could possibly come in for Parto.
Doesn’t piss me off as much as Blakey given his dad played for another ******* team
And there goes another one .Lemmey is a do not draft out of SA, has had some pretty serious personal issues this year.
And there goes another one .
Its strange that when WA recruits have 'issues' it best if they get out of WA .
Think Kelly probably did a bit but nobody cared. Since he was mature aged he probably couldn't say too much I guess, since he had a lot more to lose.WA draftees never refuse to leave WA.
Name me one kent who said he'll "struggle leaving WA", would "play his best footy around friends and family", or anyone deemed a flight risk pre draft from our end.
SA floggos have done it (Wingard), Vic obviously do it all the time, whilst nobody cares about footy in QLD or NSW.

More than happy with Phillipou at 8, many have him as top 5. Busslinger and Humphrey could also go before our pick, causing one of the listed above to slide to ours. More than happy with 8.I know a lot of people are sayin pick 8 is a sweet spot but it could actually be a bit of an awkward one. If all the teams before us take mids (not unlikely) then we are probably picking from the more speculative mids. Assumuing we want a mid with our 1st.
GWS - Cadman
BL - Ashcroft
Nth - Wardlaw
Nth - Sheezle
Ess - Tsatas
GC - Ginbey
Hawks - Mackenzie
Cats - Clark
WC - Humphrey? Hewett? Poo?
Poo probably the pick here but has ? over his midfield ability with a small sample size.
If we are looking for a pure midfielder is it worth offering Ports future second to GCS to move up to 5 to grab a Clark/Tsatas/Mackenzie? Would be a much safer pick then a Poo or Humphrey. Maybe with GC third rounder coming back to pick up Broadbent as well.
Or just run the gauntlet and be happy with whoever makes it to 8?

I'd be happy with Phillipou too, I mean who wouldn't want the next Bont/Fyfe clone (no pressure lol).More than happy with Phillipou at 8, many have him as top 5. Busslinger and Humphrey could also go before our pick, causing one of the listed above to slide to ours. More than happy with 8.

I was just wondering if we maybe we wanted a pure midfielder rather then a hybrid fwd/mid. We seem to try and make midfielders and it would be a nice change to draft a ready made mid. But i guess we would've stayed at 2 if we wanted one of those guys.
Has Lemmy softened his stance or is it just media fluff?‘Whatever it takes’: The rollercoaster AFL draft year of Harry Lemmey - and why he’s as ‘driven’ as ever
