so with Winder and Trew gone, where does that leave us?

Main list 32 + Hurn TBC
Rookie list 1 + West TBC

Assuming no surprises with either West or Hurn we will go to the draft with 5 picks (8,12,20,26,78) and 2 rookie picks (2,20)

WA draftees never refuse to leave WA.

Name me one kent who said he'll "struggle leaving WA", would "play his best footy around friends and family", or anyone deemed a flight risk pre draft from our end.

SA floggos have done it (Wingard), Vic obviously do it all the time, whilst nobody cares about footy in QLD or NSW.
Pretty sure Des headland wore a freo shirt to his interview with Brisbane before the draft

where could 78 end up after all the bid matching and clubs passing? in the 50s maybe?
In the fifties. The expectation is that there won’t be more than 60 selections taken so 78 will end up around mid 50’s

There’s also a few clubs with picks in the forties they won’t use so it’s possible we could use a future 4th to trade up if someone we like slides

Will eagles take Dewar with our last pick or will he more likely be a rookie pick?

Provided nobody bids on him in the main draft we can list him as a cat B rookie so no point taking him in the main draft unless it’s to match a bid

*This assumes we lodge the paperwork to include him as our NGA player

We could also look at some DFAs like Narkle or Fredrick.

Yeah, those are the picks we have. It remains to be seen if we use them all - doubt we’ll use 20 in the rookie draft preferring to leave one spot available for a DFA or relist Winder or Trew

Lemmey is a do not draft out of SA, has had some pretty serious personal issues this year.

Yes and you would have thought the fact that he hasn’t been badly written about by the media, maybe initially, but once the penny dropped …. then the lack of conversation and to harsh a critique would have been a clue to most were able to join the dots with.

I wish him all the best and pray that he stays in SA.
Teriffic kid.

Why would we want to start the season one short of a full list?

Because it's saves a bit of left over beer money for when the club inevitably folds?

Well if we go one short whilst paying the contract of a delisted Langdon to chase a flag at Claremont that’s be kinda dumb

Has Lemmy softened his stance or is it just media fluff?

It's all media fluff and the personal issues is not him with the standard victorian 'doesn't want to leave home'. Multiple issues to the point he may not get drafted in either draft this year. If he gets 100% right he will be a monty for the number 1 pick mid season draft next year.

TBH I think he actually needs it. It'll either drive him or prove he can't make it in a professional environment.
