AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
Didn't Geelong bid on him at 32 anyway mate? Would have had to have been inside top 20 otherwise?Errol Gulden was an academy player so no one missed out on him. Sydney just got him cheaper than they should have because clubs didn’t bid on him early enough
I thought he looked pretty good in a preseason game last year (?). He seems solid but worried about his lack of development after five years in the system. Wouldn’t mind getting him but would like to preserve 38 if possibleWatched Meek on the weekend, he probably just shaded his opponent, Taps were even, Meek had a few more disposals, didn't see anything that screamed AFL player.
Admittedly only a sample of one game.
100%.What has become so evident this year is that the successful teams play at pace. The speed of ball movement is at another level and there is also the complete team pressure that forces errors and turnovers.
Think Sydney were fortunate his senior year was covid impacted as he drifted.Didn't Geelong bid on him at 32 anyway mate? Would have had to have been inside top 20 otherwise?
He only went 32 due to height. Would have gone 1st round if 183+ if recon.
Nah Darcy was always a big lump of a lad. Broadbent isn't as stocky though he isn't stick thin.So he’s basically a younger version of Sean Darcy.
If you’re all so invested in another ruck, probable questions should be;
Is xxxx potentially better than Jamo and Williams? Does he project better long term.
How soon could he be playing AFL football?
No. It was height!!!Think Sydney were fortunate his senior year was covid impacted as he drifted.
Was very good as an underager, I was shocked he went late.
Max Knob = The next Alex Mirkov, Robert Warnock at best. Hitout platforms but thats about it.If we have the list positions and he is there as a late pick I would draft broadbent still, but I would then draft Max Knobel with our first rookie pick (I'd probably pick him before broadbent now). I think one out of the two becomes a clubs number 1 ruckman in time. Knobel is now at least 206cm.
Sydney have a decent history of parking their top academy talent in their draft year. Mills for example barely played as they’d seen enough and tried to tank his valueThink Sydney were fortunate his senior year was covid impacted as he drifted.

Jez Mclennan as a DFA wouldnt be bad. medium size interceptor, great foot skills similar player to sheppardIdeal trade/draft period imo
Pass on Jackson: Not worth spending our draft capital on one player, the list is in dire need of lots of young talent.
Pass on Meek: Awkward trade value, don't think he can play with NN, can't see him being happy as a back up.
Trade Rioli for a 2nd rounder: Blessing in disguise to be honest
Trade the Rioli pick or pick 26 for Jeremy Sharp: Sharp would address one our biggest weaknesses, pace and run. Represents opportunistic value as well not being regular best 22 at Gold Coast.
Draft
2: Wardlaw - Warlord
20: Hustwaite - Midfielder/Halfback looks to have very good skills and a good decision maker
26: Harry Barnett - Mobile ruckman, good skills. Size is a concern hopefully he develops good forward craft as well.
38: Sam Gilbey - Hopefully he slides due to injury.
Potential Rookie picks:
Harry Cole, Jordyn Baker (NGA) Dewar (NGA)
Potential PSD
Tyler Brockman - out of contract, his first year was impressive.
Potentially 8-9 players in. I'd be more than happy to see 8 or 9 of our current players go if possible.
Jones - damn fat football fingers combined with autocorrectWho is Johnson?
Max Knob = The next Alex Mirkov, Robert Warnock at best. Hitout platforms but thats about it.

Elijah Tsatas come on down100%.
And all the rule changes of the past 5 years or so have only made it more so.
6/6/6 - move it fast and get it to the open forward line before the defence can reset or be bolstered.
Stand the Mark - Please run off and get the ball moving.
Kick in changes - please run to 30 out and unload the big kick.
and so on.
Alas, Smith and Jones are unlikely to still be there at that pick.Ideal draft for me:
Pick 2 - Wardlaw, Tsatas
Pick 20 - Syzbowski, Hustwaite, Hotton, Hollands or anyone beginning with H (I imagine Ginbey is probably unrealistic here)
Pick 26 - Jakob Ryan
Pick 27 - (Amon compo for Rioli) - Scully or a ruckman
Pick 38 - D.Jones, K.Smith
Might be a touch optimistic but that's the point of these right.
For all the talk about mids…I feel like we are going to take Cadman. Besides the ball drop and inaccurate kicking been mentioned on here - would it be a bad pick?
Buddy takes 10 shots for an average of 3 goals a gameWould a forward who can't kick be a bad pick at 2?
My take on Cadman is that he is not dissimilar to Amiss. Not white the dick deadeye but gets a bit more of it up higher.Buddy takes 10 shots for an average of 3 goals a game
Agreed that the first time I saw his leap I was like wow! Mistimed and everything was pretty cool to watch go at it.I've watched him quite a lot, he has a lot to work on but has a much higher ceiling than most. The exact type that's perfect for a rookie list and development. Has great size and athleticism. Needs to work on his ruck craft and all round game but I can't think of a better place to do that than under Nicnat. He also has a reach advantage in regards to his arms for his height so will play taller than he is. Can we develop that into a fully fledged ruck, maybe. But he's a great prospect for a late pick.
