So did Carlton rest several top players last week under ‘injuries’?

Feel confident for tonight. Woulld.love a 10 goal smashing. Snuff them out. In Sydney tonight so cant make the game. Have 2 tickets for anyone who would like to use them. Let me know . Will check in through the day to see if anyone interested. Free to a good Collingwood home

You spend a lot of overnighters in BigFooty jail.

Gone Critical is going to start having to take on some infraction points for you soon.
Well he takes my speeding points so its the least i could do

Carlton's improvement, whilst nauseating to witness, has been real.

How much closer that brings that side to the top 4 teams remains to be tested.

I hope we thrash the Blues on Friday night but suspect it won't be as easy as you imagine. :)
They've beaten Hawthorn, Freo, West Coast and a Port Adelaide side that rested like 8 players.

The hype at the moment for them is laughable.

I have a terrible feeling you are going to smash us...at least 8 goals

A smashing by Collingwood these days is a win by 1 goal. Maybe 2 if it really blows out.

We're going to have to start trying our sub out for impact not just player management. Markov has had two without great impact (second better than first). Ginnivan, Beau, Mitchell and Reef probably the best sub performances so far.
I think it's the wrong way to look at it. Anyone who's going to come on and consistently have a big impact in a quarter and a half should be in the starting 22. The tactical sub comes on to play a role, allowing us to change the balance or dynamic and give some extra rotation. It'll be the last runner picked. It'll be a runner, because Maynard and WHE can play a tall role, but the talls can't play the small roles.

Very interesting the forward setup without Hill.
Sidebottom?
De goey?

If they choose to hsrd tag Daicos, I'd throw Daicos down there so we can get a preview of what his last few years look like

I’d assume the announcement of contract extensions for the Daicos brothers.

Nah, it’s that another team has demonstrated how to beat us without actually managing to beat us. It’s an AFL record.

Assuming a full list, I think Markov, WHE and Hill are competing for one spot and the sub. Don't see any other realistic options. I think Hill could be a great sub for impact, not flexibility, WHE best for flexibility, Markov not very flexible or impactful, the least likely sub for mine.

Will come down to performance over the next 5 games, but my guess is Markov in the 22, Hill sub and WHE to miss. I'd probably go with WHE ahead of Markov, as otherwise we're a forward short (as we are this week - one less than we've played most of the year anyway), but think Fly really likes Oleg. Some concerns over Hill's mentality as sub, but he has the tools to succeed in the role. Also think WHE can be a good sub, flexibility and potential scoreboard impact.

Outside options: AJ, Frampton, Ginnivan, Krueger, Reef. Aj, Frampton, Krueger too risky if we lose a runner early. Would need to play an extra runner in the 22 for this to be an option. Ginnivan and Reef not too likely, would need to pass two of WHE, Markov, Hill.
I think it’s subjective because we see impact as ball in hand for that individual. The club might see it as what it allows us to do with structure. On Saturday Markov coming in to the game may have released Crisp. I’ve also seen it broken down purely by scoreboard impact (didn’t like that).

I personally prefer the Markov/ WHE runner type because late game when we’re surging it can provide a difference on spread that you won’t get from a Reef/ Frampton/ Ginnivan who are all ball in hand impact players.

Fair point but 5 wins in a row is still an improvement on 5 straight losses, plus a team can only beat the opposition they have to play.

I'll be going tonight and expect it to be a very good game. Carlton will throw everything at the Pies.

I've hung so much crap over my Blues supporting buddy, hope that doesn't come back to bite.

It was 6 straight losses. And a board member

The previous game against the Bulldogs. He played well and was showing good signs of a return to form and his confidence increasing.
I’m not sure he was there in the role he’s being asked to play. It’s a different role to 2022 and more in line with Lipinski and WHE who are usually in the frame to be dropped if they put up what Ginnivan did v Footscray. It’s subjective though and doesn’t really impact the state of play so its not one I’d argue over.

He played the same role as in the last game - high half forward. His stats weren't as big but he looked much more like the good player we know he can be. I thought he looked "back" and engaged and was not surprised in the least of his BOG in the game that followed.

He's back knocking on the door again and that good for the side.

I think Carlton make finals anyway but wouldn’t mind making them squirm for the remainder of the season. But also I really don’t care about tonight we got bigger issues to worry about than a meaningless round 18 or whatever we’re up to game
