So you’d be happy to lose Jake Waterman for under market value?
So you'd be happy for him to spud the next 2 years and be locked into keeping him?

Most players get to 30 and either have continuous injuries that sideline them for most of the year or have been overtaken by younger, better players. a 3 year contract with options would have been a better bet.

I doubt it's much but given how out of favour he was last year I'm surprised we didn't just pay him out and let him have a proper retirement
someone explained that it could be because sheed's foot injury bad enough wont stop him from playing footy, so he cannot medically retire so if we paid him out now that would come out of this years TPP.

somehow our TPP this year is close to the limit.

by keeping him on the list it allows him one last roll of the dice (FOR THE EAGLES), at worst he's a good contributor at WAFL level.

It’s not as if he’s on gigantic mega dollars - all reports indicate he’s on a good deal with big incentives.

So yes, I am.

You didn't answer the question though.

Front loaded contract so no risks.

Yep people keep forget that we have to spend the TTP so it’s actually a smart piece of business front-loading a contract.
We have just dumped Darlings contract and if all is to be believed we will be doing same ( if not all but in part ) for Barrass.

You got to spend it so, front loaded contracts on players you want to keep are the tool by which to do so.

Both players taken from the same draft 14 picks apart, both played just shy of 300 games for their respective clubs, both incredibly durable, both (reportedly) on similar contracts p.a., both offered multi year deals to move interstate and Jack comfortably played more games this year and playing a far more crucial position.

We don’t have to be w*nkers but a little bit of backbone wouldn’t hurt.

6 AND 13

They want 6 and 13 for Daniel Rioli

Where am I?

Next Year he'd be a free agent. We'd be about Pick 2 or 3 so a Top 5 compensation pick. Yep, I'd be happy to wait out the year and see what happens.
Unpopular opinion but I agree I think we played this one poorly. He we waited until end of next year we either end up paying him a fair contract at market value or we likely get a top 5 pick for him.

Saints thinking its a salary dump .

Macrae is on 800k + for the next 3 years and not best 22 .

Bulldogs turned around and want a decent pick for him lol .

Saints waiting till the end of trade period to see if the dogs realise saints are doing them a favour by taking on his contract .

Dogs should be packing macrae bags
It seems like everyone knows next year's draft is a bust and Tassie is coming from 2026, so they're playing real hardball on trades to gain/preserve R1 and R2 selections. I think this trade period is likely to be pretty lacklustre.

To be fair to Richmond - they’re dealing with Gold Coast who are known for throwing away draft picks for less. May as well ask - GC might think 6 and 13 is a fine bit of trading and will pat themselves on the back before missing finals yet again.

Difference is Parker just kicked three goals in a Grand Final and is actually part of Sydney’s plans. Jack is fourth in line, trending to be fifth, for his own position and has no prospect of a contract extension from us.

You don’t need to have a win for the sake of having a win when we’re talking 61 vs 67.

Problem is Gold Coast don’t play on the same field as the rest of the league.

Everyone gets a turn on the GC draft lottery, as the system has been set up for them to really never want or need high end picks. Quantity over quality and every other club gets to pick at them on a year by year basis.

We had our turn, it was fun, but really it’s a blight on the league.

3 goals in a GF? I thought you were talking smack until I checked the scores. He kicked 3 junktime goals in the 4th when the game was well and truly buried (hence why I didn't remember). I thought he played terribly when the game was on the line.

I agree that Sydney don't want him to go, which I think is a really poor way to treat a champion trying to extend his career.
