I wonder if that future second they're being forced to punt to GC will be replaced by another future second from Port for Esava.
Port cant trade their future 2nd if they want to trade their future first for JHF

If port want to get all of JHF , rioli and ratagolea they need to trade out a decent player or 2

Jarrad Schofield would have the inside running on who is worth poaching. Hope he's working the phones for us.
Jarrad to random port player: hai mayt how are ya wanna come west?

random port player: yeh nah you're shit

jarrad: ok thanks

That’s a shame.

😆

Someone of JHF's quality/potential doesn't come through the door for pick 8 in a middling draft and a (presumably) later 1st next year. Especially when they are also trying to afford Junior and Esava.

I really don't see how this deal gets done without Port giving up a good player. If someone this highly rated comes available somewhat unexpectedly you might have to ask the question of a few players. Say Houston, MG, SPP, Bonner. Not an untouchable but still quality

JK got nudged out of Carlton when they were desperate to get Judd. Not to equate JHF with Judd, but he could/should be closer than MG will be to JK.
Why would anyone want Bonner? Sure he has a good kick but he is so soft he makes masten look like a hard nut !

Averaging 0.8 tackles and 3 contested possessions a game .

Who do you believe are the 6 better prospects than Clark?

I have seen most pundits having him as early as 4 and as late as 6.

I believe Geelong will need to pony up more to get up the order
I'll bite.
I'd have Wardlaw, Sheezel, Cadman, Mackenzie, Philippou, Humphrey, Ashcroft, Busslinger, Hollands and Tsatas ahead of Clark.
He really seems the most vanilla pick of the top 10 despite his obvious aggression in contests.

I don't agree he may not be a explosive as wardlaw but his inside game is just as good and he has a much better outside game .

If we traded down to 6 or 7 I would love to get him

I’d have Clark over Hollands for sure, but I agree with the others, I think they all have a higher ceiling, although Clark might be a safer option

Eagles lose: pick 2, Rioli, future third
Eagles gain: pick 8, future first (Port), future second (North)

Port lose: pick 8, future first, Bergman
Port gain: JHF, Rioli

North lose: JHF, future 2nd
North gain: pick 2, Bergman, future third (WCE)

Who says no?

North should say no

For us I’d say it’s a fair deal but one I wouldn’t necessarily love, if that makes sense

We're going to have to agree to disagree. I don't think his inside game is as good as Wardlaw's and I'd much prefer Mackenzie, Hollands or Philippou on the outside.

think that is about as close to even as we can get in that sort of trade

i'd probably rather keep 2 and get 33 and 44 (whatever it is) for rioli

Yeah sure, I added him in later with an edit because people were talking about him already. I agree he is the weakest name there. Maybe Duursma or even Marshall perhaps, although I think Marshall would be the hardest to get of all those names.

My point is simply that they might need to give up a b22 player that they still want. Forget I said Bonner. Although he likely ends up at NM as part of that side of the deal anyway

Port say no - they now want Ratagolea (as well as Rioli) thrown in for 8 and a future first.

On a serious note I could live with that. If I was Rawlings I would also take it. Not selling the hope for Norf of 11 months ago but there again JHF has not settled with them.
