Got a nice amount of midfield talent coming through now, I'm a little surprised that Trew will go round again. Winder I don't mind. I've seen something in him for the past two seasons, and there's a glimmer of hope. He might get more opportunity over the next two years but he does need to step up his application and consistency.

About time there was something to melt over

The past 2 days of good faith have just been completely undone by the decision to re-rookie Trew.

I didn't believe it at the time, but this does lend credence to that rumour that Winder and Trew were contracted for 2023. Or maybe we just don't rate any of the talent left on the board.

Don't really want either of Winder or Trew back but if they had contracts and it helps move around some cap in our favour then so be it. You don't want to throw away a free hit too often but we're probably not missing much.

I'd keep Winder on for another but the mind boggles keeping Trew

Has shown nothing. He is like our own Liam Henry

Sydney's trolling didn't stop there. They took Vickery, a Hawthorn academy player, with a pick they couldn't match on that Sydney obtained (drum roll please) from Hawthorn.
As good a story that is, there was a fair bit of talk before the draft, that Hawthorn were unlikely to pick up Vickery, even in the rookie draft.

It’s like when the Tigers picked up two of our academy boys with back to back picks in the 2019 draft.

Word on our board was that we were only interested in drafting Coleman that year, and we had other priorities at the draft.

I guess with the five very promising players added yesterday and Monday, and hopefully Baker and Dewar today, we can’t complain too much.

Don’t think we needed to relist both those guys though. One would have been alright.

Not sure about keeping both but good luck to them. I see more in Winder but hopefully Trew can get a full preseason in.

I don't rate English as a ruck, and he's going to cost a bomb on top of that.
Be that as it may, I think that's what we will do.
Cost is not so much of an issue given how many big $ contracts will be coming to an end- we will actually need to pay some big $s to some guys to keep to our minimum cap requirement as we will be a very young team without many players demanding big contracts.
I think he becomes unrestricted once his contract expires so wont cost us any draft capital.

Microwave on standby.

Would be mildly underwhelming to re-rookie both; happy enough to see Winder given another punt but surely there's some talent that's slid that might be worth a punt, like Gilbey or Szybkowski or Hagan or even Broadbent to really shore up those big man spots.

On the flip side if we are semi obligated to relist them because of their previous contract, I’m glad they’re on the rookie list and not the main list
