There were many injury scares for the Crows, but some seemed to come back on, whether or not it is because they had no other players fit and played under duress or not is yet to be known

- Porplizia off with a shoulder injury, managed to come back on, 50/50 to play next week IMO

- Basset concused, carted off, a chance to play next week, didn't come back on

- Jericho took a heavy knock, commentators thought it was ribs, managed to come back on

- Massie, reported hamstring, likely to miss, didn't come back on

- Vince took a heavy knock but played out the match

That was the best possible match for them to play before us if you are a Hawk fan. High intensity all game. It will take it's toll I'm sure.

Do they have anyone to match on Franklin? whens moran comming back?
I only thing Massie might miss, maybe Porp which will be a pretty big out for adelaide

Vince/jericho/basset will be alright, basset out would be a big plus for hawthorn

How about Knights? hes a very decent player and might cause us a bit of trouble if he comes back in

Need to get out of the blocks and get a winning lead by halftime, they certainly were still running hard in the last qtr.

I always love to see a team stay on the ground and over celebrate a win like Adelaide did today...they always seem to fall over the next week.

As far as i am concerned the Crows have no significant injuries, Bassett should come up. The extra days rest, Crawf to come in and give us extra run and if we can keep 22 fit players on the park we can open them up in the secong half with our hard running game. Should be a ripper against the Crows.

Basset with concussion, I doubt he will be up for next week.

Porplyzia with shoulder, dunno, he's had shoulder problems before.

Massie with hamstring, gone I would say. At least it will stop the local media predicting Craigie will play Massie on Franklin again. Incidentally, Moran has a broken finger ,might be out for another 2 or 3. I think Bock will take Franklin, maybe try to expose him on the rebound.

Vince, should be ok, Jericho more than likely will be dropped anyway, did little but was gutsy to come back on and at least make a contest.

Knights still a few weeks away with the quad.

Depth, not fitness, will be the problem for us. I suspect it will be a little easier week on the track this week to try to freshen everyone up.

Unfortunately I think the depth question might just find us out. What is the situation with Boyle and..... and..... grrr who was the other tall injured last night?

Hopefully the '08 AA CHB - Bock lines up this time on Buddy.

Neither Knights or Reilly will resume, so hopefully don't have too many outs to injury.

Bock has the height and more then enough strength but Buddy will chop him to peices on the lead. Guess thats the problem when matching up on Buddy though, its hard to tick all the boxes.

Likewise Stevens is a better fit on the lead but doesn't have the body strength. Still as long as we hold you up a bit in the midfield they should be able to help each other out and hopefully hold him to something reasonable.

It will be a good measure of where we're at this year, if we can fair decently against the team I expect to contest the Grand Final with Geelong that will be a very good sign.

After I saw the score, and heard they just got home in a tight one, I was actually looking forward to us playing them at AAMI. I had a vision of them struggling to back up after a tough one, performing like we did against North after beating the Crows in the finals last year.

Home ground advantage, extra days rest, longer travel and now a slog fest with Port will all take their toll on the Crows. Make the most of it Hawks.

THE CROWS are confident they’ve escaped Sunday night’s brutal Showdown win over Port Adelaide with minimal damage despite finishing the game with only 19 fit men.

Bassett suffered severe concussion, but is expected to be available for Sunday’s clash with Hawthorn.

The incident triggered a period of utter carnage for the Crows, with four more players going down with injuries.

Jon Griffin and Luke Jericho also copped heavy knocks in Adelaide’s gutsy six-point win, and like Bassett, will be monitored over the next 48 hours, but should be cleared to play.

Kris Massie suffered some hamstring tightness during the second half and is likely to be sidelined for round four, while the extent of Jason Porplyzia’s shoulder injury won’t be known until later in the week.

Onballers Rob Shirley and Bryce Campbell could push for selection this week while the injured quartet of Brent Reilly (wrist), Chris Knights (quad), Brad Moran (finger) and Trent Hentschel (knee) are on track to play around the weekend of the bye in May.

Thanks for the info - and Murphy was the other tallish player injured for us. Hodge and Stokes got corkies - Stokes' looked kinda bad, Hodge you wouldn't notice if the coach didn't tell you.

Thanks for that. It will be an interesting one and will probably give us a fair indication of our depth. We've already lost 2 of our best 4 midfielders and if Porplyzia is not available either, well, it will be a tough afternoon. I doubt fitness will be an issue as the Crows will have an easy week on the track. Their fitness base is as good as anyones, just a matter of who is available. The kids have stood up really well so far this year, but I fear they will have to excel to win this one.

Probably one weekend I wouldn't mind if it p@#$^d down. Take away some of your advantage in the air up forward.
