The bloke must be going through a breakdown or something with regards to his always teary, emotional eyes and lack of expression during quarters... always nearly in tears.
Sounds like me. I cry all the time, if I had any shame (I don't) I'd probably be embarrassed about it. These days I can't even watch a crappy Disney movie without balling my eyes out. Not sure if it's because of multiple concussions/un-diagnosed brain injury or a few too many pingers over the last quarter of a century, but if I find out I'll let you know.

Langdon is Matt Jones playing in a better side except I liked Matt Jones
Was probably naive of me to think a guy that can actually hold width would be a fix-all for our issues offensively.

I don't mind Ed honestly. Didn't cost a whole lot. Guess the total value of picks we traded for him(was like a 3rd rounder iirc) could've been saved had we signed Jack Newnes. But I think Ed is a bit better; I don't think he misses two running goals from directly in front like Matt Jones did vs Saints 2014 which still scars me.

But good teams definitely develop Ed Langdon types pretty easily. Hunty should've been our fat side winger for the next decade after his 2017 season.

Still think with this list we should play a bit more defensive in game. Yes I know we only scored 54pt but teams get scoring shots against us way too easily. Flood the back half for a bit, play some awful to watch footy and grind out results through what’s meant to be our strength in repeat stoppages. Sounds boring but we don’t have the skill or composure to open games up atm.

We had the whole back half flooded for the second half. We just kept torping it down the line to a one on 7.
No ability to run it out of the the back half and no ability to get it over the line and set up because we lost at the one thing we should be able to do which is dominate stoppages

I’m unsure why people think hunt can play the wing aside from his foot speed. He isn’t a precise kick, Just kicks it long, doesn’t intercept mark nor seem to provide an option to switch the play.

He has shown he can play down back running off half back, and seems to a reasonable job up forward leading up at the kicker. So that suggest to me hasn’t got the ability to play with the game around him but can play when he starts with his back to goals running and down the ground

I know may shanked a few kick ins but we're so bad at providing options in that situation. Other teams try to create pockets of space for players to lead into to get an uncontested mark. Our entire strategy is everyone stand still, then bomb down the line to Gawn.
We did the same 10 years ago bar the fact it was Jamar's head just outside the 50 they were plonking it on

He's quicker than Matt Jones. Gus is Beamer in this scenario. ****ing Jarring seeing Rivers kick it in comparison to our outside mids. I think we'd be knackered getting a mark inside 50 even if we had a gameplan.

and before that it was Jeff White.

Tingay could clear the bal from a kick in. That was a while ago.

We kept playing to Carlton's tempo when we desperately needed to slow the game down and halt their momentum. I don't think we attempted a single switch which was a big feature of our preseason games.

It was a bizarre performance that we somehow completely lost our contested ball edge as the game went on but used the ball effectively enough to kick a game-winning score in the first quarter and a half.

I wonder what the training drills have been like in the two week lead-up the players had to this game. It seems like we only really focused on our forward entries and nothing else, the rest of our game was so rusty.

Interestingly Goodwin said on SEN thursday morning they had specifically focused on starting fast, but didn't mention what or how. So that worked but we need to work on the last 3 quarters as well.

Did anyone see on the couch. It showed how Carlton wasted opportunities late in the game. We were very lucky Carlton forward entries were Melbourneesq because we were done. Not to mention how wastefull they were in the second quarter.

Can't believe we beat carlton!!!! What a win against a team thats absolutely feeding it to Geelong on their home deck.

Geelong are 17 of last 19 at their home ground, losing to carlton by 6 goals at 3/4 time and we beat carlton!
