I've never hoped we take Luko more than I do right nowIf we sell the farm and end up taking luko, I might as well ban myself from here for a few months.
*Having said this I think we'll take rankine.
Who is this king you speak of?The King of the Draft clarified on 5aa today that a team has to have all other picks for next years draft if they want to trade next years first rounder tomorrow night. He said 8 teams were unable to trade next years draft pick tomorrow night, which included us.
You would think we could trade say 8 + 16 + next years first rounder if we get back a second and third rounder for next year.
Unfortunately the VFL make this shit up so I expect that if we look like we are anywhere near Luko or Izak it will be “No Deal”
Ok look forward to it happeningSorry that doesn’t make sense. If anything this year there is more incentive for us to trade up and more for GC to trade down. Therefore we are more likely to offer overs and GC are more likely to accept unders, or at least a fair deal.
If our supporters think 8, 13 and next years 1st is worth more than pick 3, then you can be sure that GC would feel the same and jump at it. This is how all trading through history has worked.
I think it’s a good mix too. I love Butters, think he’s a great character and has superb footy smarts, he’s a top 12 prospect in last year’s draft easy. Do think that overall we could go a bit taller, thoughDon’t mind that at all. Pace, midfield depth, bit of in your face niggle. Yah I dig it. Especially like the O’Halloran pick that later. Love Caldwell and am a fan of Butters. Just seems like a great personality.
I reckon there will be a club or two that will come knocking for that pick 21 offering us a future 1st or 2nd. If its a 1st, we would have to look at it surely?Until the clubs with their eye on a certain player still on the board offer up a 2019 1st round pick anyway.

Mark Stevens would be close to the most biased journo around.
Slightly OT
About to enter the Penultimate day before the draft. Time to get excited.
Some afl official.Who is this king you speak of?
Sure but, for us we have a 1st and 2nd next year. We don’t have a 3rd or a 4th. Having more first round picks spread across a 2 year period is better for us than having them in one draft. Even if the team goes on to win a flag, its still a late first rounder. Now the talent at that point might be different but a 1st round pick generally hold a higher value. Not necessarily. A late first next year isn’t that much better than the pick we have. Remember it’s the 2nd rounder of the wooden spooner. GC made a similar mistake with WC last year.
Think long game. If we trade it for a 2019 1st even if it is a mid round 1st we have 2 for next year. We can then trade a 2019 1st next year for a 2020 1st in preparation to pay for luko or rankine when they tell GC they are gone and only want to be traded to the crowsNot necessarily. For example if that pick is 14 or 15 next year, all of a sudden it looks a pretty good pick. It means 5 first round picks over 2 year period. Huge for the club. This is all provided we don’t trade up. But even if we do, we replenish a pick we possibly trade out for upgrade this year, for an extra pick next year.
It would be such an Adelaide thing to do.

All depends on who is left at 21 and how high we rate them
If it’s the 10th or 12th guy on our list we use it if it’s a later guy we trade it
Also depends on how highly we rate next year's draft crop.
Wish we hadn't thrown in an extra third rounder in the McGovern trade. We let Carlton off way too lightly.
In less than 48 hours time we will know what we have netted with our first 3 picks whether that be a straight 3 pick or a trade-up situation (any trade-down is likely to be pick 21 - I do expect several offers for that one)
It's bloody exciting isn't it!! Can't wait!!
Whichever way it goes, we have the ammo. I reckon we'll be more than happy either way.
In Ogilvie we trust!!
