On the flip side, imagine last year knocking back the offer of our 1st rounder this year for 21 (later after academy/FS) last year. That’d be rejecting 21 for 8

If someone offered us a 1st rounder for 21 you’d take it unless there was a player we rated very high who had slid.

There is big upside with minimal downside.

Also not sure if mentioned but WC have 1st pick of day 2 not us (according to road to the draft podcast)

Wouldn't it depend on how many players are bid on?

A day will come when players will be able to be open.

Interesting point you raised, in America a gay draftee was pictured kissing his boyfriend when selected. It was met with applause and congratulations by Obama back in the day.

I honestly believe that there are openly gay players on lists and in this years draft. Im just convinced that players wish to keep that side of their life private and their team mates respect that. Clubs and managers may also advise players to keep under the radar to avoid the risk of becoming a mini celebrity side show and dealing with the prejudice and jibes over the fence which can add massive pressure to perform. I respect that. In reality its no ones business. You only have to look at how Indigenous players are still treated from time to time to understand why gay players think '**** that'

Yep I felt the same way as well. Rightly so too. The pressure would be insane, not to mention the ridicule.

I mean ffs we had a banana thrown at Betts in 2017.

It will take a few more decades for gay players to be embraced and accepted by all. Which is tragic.
