Have heard a couple of recruiters say that with live trading clubs are keeping their cards closer to their chest than ever. Take the consensus with a grain of salt. I wont get my hopes up too much, but if we end up with Caldwell I will be a happy man. But I think it will be like this.

Port are taking best available and you just can't say that Rozee is the 5th best player in this draft. I wouldn't be surprised to see Port take Smith or Caldwell either.
Gold Coast just can't ignore both their key positions and their midfield in the same draft. I think they take Caldwell because Smith has scared them off.
Smith is best available at 7.

They ALWAY are this close to the Draft ......they all start (phantoms) quite different, but then their ideas get lost & it becomes "follow the leader"

The Western Bulldogs shape to be the first club to leverage the AFL's new live trading of draft picks with three clubs circling their first draft pick. The possibility has emerged that the Dogs could trade their pick to move a few places in the draft in exchange for an extra draft pick in this or next year's draft, and still secure the player they wanted. Adelaide, Port Adelaide and Greater Western Sydney are all keenly interested in the Dogs' first selection at pick seven. The three clubs have eight of the next 12 picks in the draft after the Dogs' pick seven, with the Crows holding eight, 13 and 16, the Power 10 and 15, and the Giants nine, 11 and 19. It is highly unlikely that any of the clubs with the first six picks - Carlton, Gold Coast, St Kilda and Port - will trade their early selections, so the Dogs' pick shapes as an attractive, attainable, option. This is why I never do a true phantom until like the hour before - a leak comes out, and every journalist changes
It’s even more irrelevant this year with live trading likely going to make phantoms skewiff

I saw that too, but it looked a lot like click bait and for it to come out the day before the draft in a format like that. I call bullshit. But if its genuinely true, then its a MH issue which scare me more than hamstrings. Good luck to him. But I take it as click bait bullshit for now. He is still firmly on my wish list.

Given it’s a phantom draft and not power rankings, doesn’t it make sense that the closer to the draft you get the closer the phantom drafts will be? After all it’s based on where they think players will be picked based on the whispers going around, plus you assume they all talk to the same people.

Why are we being touted as the first to bid on Blakey at pick 8 ?? One of the club's with a top 4 pick should be reading his name out.
The same thing happens every year. The journos wait for Twomey to do his phantom draft, then they all copy it but with some slight changes and a few "what if" scenarios to pretend it's their own, with all of them ultimately ending up largely wrong after about Pick 4.
No, personal opinion.. I did here rumours saints wanted to stay above bulldogs & why we cant trade up to 4 (was only rumour)
Smith would be a great fit for the saints and the 2nd best victorian in the draft

Here’s a thought, why don’t the journos do phantom drafts based on not where they think the players will go, at least they would be original and not referred to as sheep.
