List Mgmt. Draft Watch 2015

Love the Aaron Francis banter. Been roaming around a few threads and this looks like the one for me, where I can let my dreams of both francis and milera joining the club run wild.

A month ago Francis sounded a certainty for top 3 but as has been said by most of you there's been a lot of whispers about him sneaking down to us, and where there's smoke there's fire (and also where there's a biased eyed crows man).

If you break it down, Carlton/Melb/Essendon do have a strong need for big, leading key forwards, hence I can see Weidemann going at 4/5, H Mckay at 8. Curnow is a bit of an engima and with 2 selections a club will take a punt on him before us, definitely. Those guys with Parish, plus the big two = 6 picks. I haven't seen Collins go before 10, 13 for that matter anywhere else but to be honest it is a pick that works for Melbourne. Grab a stopper in combination with curnow, those are a handy couple of picks and 100% help the spine of that team. Then there's Oliver, a bloke who seems to have most of the recruiters salivating - would love to have him personally but again most reports see him going very early these days.

This all said, I can easily see Francis being nabbed very early and my/our dreams crumbling. There is no way we let Francis slide, we don't have any 'needs' to fill and the kid has a pair of dukes to make any grown man (or Brian Taylor) weak at the knees.

Don't see why we need a thread about who we will draft with 9 and 13 when we were and still are doing exactly the same thing in the other thread. Mods?

Pretty fascinating that the age of the ruckman going high in the draft are over.

Reckon Hawthorn drafting Marc Pittonet at 50 and us taking Reilly O'Brien in the rookie draft may have been the only "pure" rucks taken last year. It's all about the hybrid ruck/forwards nowadays.

I like Oliver but think he'll be gone by 9....... Francis at 9 seems to be a legit thing that could happen which is exciting. Às for 13 I'll just let it play out and see who we pick before i decide yay or nay cos it could be 1 of 6 different players.

Think that burton is the unknown smoky and not sure what the club is thinking there

Personally I'd go Francis at 9 if available then have H mckay, milera , Oliver , Collins, Ah Chee , tucker and hibberd in order of preference

I'm on the Francis and Burton train. Both have been touted as top 5 picks at some point, have potential to play mid, elite skills and they're from S.A.
it would be great to get in some high grade home grown players.

The Mckay brothers seem to be rising on what they could do rather than have done, and given that they just scrape into this years draft thats ok but they haven't shown enough for me. Collins, he'd make our third first round 190+ defender, no thanks. I was keen on Milera before we landed Menzel but i've since cooled on him. Tucker, if we think he can transfer into a fulltime mid possibly at 13. Oliver and Mathieson will probably go before our picks. Bonner, Ah Chee, Balic etc i'm not keen on for various reasons.

That's my concern with Tucker. If we are after a full time mid with one of our picks his pick up would be somewhat speculative as he has yet to prove he can nail that position at an elite level.

Milera showed some real class at SANFL level, in a couple of finals too. That is a great sign of a good player. Yes, Toumpas kicked a nice running goal in a grand final or whatever it was, but Milera kicked 5 in a semi. Rediculous.

Has Francis performed as strongly at SANFL level?

Nope , not yet mainly due to lack of conditioning

Club has put a lot of time into hibberd , we need more height with our mids and flankers and he takes contested marks which we lose with danger leaving ...reckon he's in the mix for 13 but not top priority
