I don't think that the club would have any interest in Salopek, to be honest. He's just a little too old to really be worth recruiting. However, Horlin-Smith + Hunt for Boak... I'd consider it. Throw in a 3rd-rounder instead of Salopek, please.

I like that part. He could develop into a great left-footer no doubt, once he stops kicking with his (preferred) right foot of course. :)

:D I noticed that too - they wonder why journo's have no credibility these days...

I like the way that we've neatly ignored the suggestion that we trade away our first-rounder + compo pick for Boak. If it came to that or nothing... then Travis would be heading to Norf. Sorry.

I can't see Geelong using one of their GA jr compensation picks for an existing listed AFL player. Stephen Wells knows what's best for the club, and other than Marcus Drum (no fault of Wells or Drum), he's done brilliantly.

Bullshit! One of them must have done something bad to a black cat or smashed up a mirror shop for him to cop the injuries he did!! :D

Meh, I really rekon the Norf approach was just a ploy to squeeze more dosh out of us.
You think, if he goes "Thats it, im finished with port I want to become a cat" then the ball is soley in our court to pay him as we see fit.
If there is another potential suitor then he could squeeze a bit more out of us!!

Pretty sure Salopek is a free-agent at end of the year anyway so why would you want to accept a guy you can get for nothing as part of the deal?

Same applies going the other way for Hunt.

Or am I missing something?

Port do still need to agree to terms... and if money was the issue, he'd stay at Port anyway, I'd guess.

You are correct.

The writer doesn't know his stuff.

Obviously this trade won't happen, but my point was that Hunt has been a role player and at times played that role very well. He is not a star and therefore not one of the players I consider paramount to making sure that we handle with care. Sometimes tough calls need to be made for the greater good and Hunt has to be one of the most undisciplined players at the club. Gives away a lot of free kicks and doesn't man up often enough.
As far as GHS if he was to be a part of a trade to bring Boak to the cats then I see no problem with that he hasn't played an AFL game so there is as much speculation as there would be for a draft pick.
GHS and either the compo pick or 1st rounder for Boak is fair in my opinion.

Good Lord... Motlop!?!?! I'd rather Motlop than Boak.

Motlop looks great when on , his best is very good but I'm still a little concerned about his "Motlop-ness" , his ability to do non Geelong things. If the right trade was offered id consider it seriously. Woulld he want out of our system an into Ports... not sure. He is getting a regular game atm but will that always be? I really doubt it. Too many other talented players who's absolute peak may not be as good as Motlop but they will be more rounded contributers , I cant see him being anymore than a fringe player@ Geelong

One 'motlop' is fine by me, it's when the heat is on and you need all hands to the pump and you have a couple ala Carlton with Garlett/yarran/betts etc and they go missing, that's when you're in trouble.

" Boak crashes in, feeds it out to motlop who's in space.." Now that has a nice ring to it for mine..

Knew that was happening. Most people did-it's been fairly obvious it was likely a while ago.

We enquired last year, would expect we would do so again although Essendon might be all over it if they can't find the currency to get Caddy.

How would people feel about swapping Gillies for Toy? (with maybe some shuffling of later picks). I'd like to keep Gillies but I suspect he will force a move after 5 games this year, and GC are on record that they'll chase more KPD's this year. He might be happy with the opportunities there. Worth thinking about maybe.

St Kilda very keen on Josh Walker and Bulldogs are right into Mitch Brown. Cats not keen about trading either but hand may be forced ala Mumford.

Jesse Stringer will be part of the offer to Port for Boak.

GHS untouchable.

All makes sense given St Kilda are low for talls. Walker won't want to go though, he loves the family club, he will be upgraded and he knows he'll get plenty of gametime next year. After all Brown's gone back, Kersten is not a genuine tall (more Menzel role) and Pods is ageing, plus Walker can ruck, so he will get plenty of opportunities. Be staggered if he moved.

Brown might be more itchy (after four years as a pose to Walker's two) and Macca would know his abilities well, plus they have no forward line. I would hope the move to defence and Scarlo's impending retirement means Mitch can see regular games in his future next year. I definitely wouldn't want to trade him unless we got similar to what we paid for him, and then I'd rather still keep him-we are light on for defenders and I think he is a better prospect than Gillies there.

No doubt we will offer Stringer as part of the package for Boak, whether Port will be interested in him or not is another question.

With simpkin, sheringham, walker and stringer all playing senior games, they all will want to be promoted, i cant see us doin this. So I wouldn't be to fussed to see stringer packaged in a deal.

Stringer looks a very good player to me....

He is, but the reality is with what the other three rookies have done in the last half of the year, he's not at the head of the elevation queue like he was before. And he can't spend another year on the rookie list. So it wouldn't stagger me on that basis to see him end up in a trade (assuming the off field stuff is resolved of course).
