St.kilda must delist one ruckman now.......like gardnier, rix, auckland, kosi (postentially), brooks

You would think Brooks may be getting very nervous.

According to Ross Lyon our rucks are now Gardiner, Rix, Brooks and Ackland.

Remember both Brooks and Gardiner can play up forward and Rix was used down back pretty effectively this season.

All seem to be safe ATM.

I think both sides did well with this deal. The Eagles were in danger of getting nothing for him so an improved draft pick is OK. He played himself back into reasonable form this year before his act of stupidity, then did very well in the WAFL. His knee appears to be fine although he continues to get minor injuries. I expect the Saints to get some quality ruck work from him next season. I would like to still have him at the Eagles but he blew all his chances there. Best wishes Gardy.

Blakey may be looking nervously over his shoulder at the moment ... if we are required to take 3 draft picks someone else needs delisting to make room, yes?

as far as i can tell, the saints have 35 on thwir playing list now. and therefor will not have to delist anymore players. they will be deslitning murray and mcgough. the saints started with 39 players , 1 short.

North Melbourne better watch out if Gardnier is driving past because if he crashes and destoys some of their infrastructure they may have not enough money to replace the buildings.

lmao :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Very happy with the trade ... if Gardiner can repcature even a fifth of his '03 form, then he will be a bloody good player.

Only a one-year contract and there would be plenty of conditions. Should be cheapish pay ....

Saints were one player short on their list in 2006. They have delisted Mark McGough and Allan Murray ... so technically the rest of the group are safe.

No, they started with 38 players, two short.

They were told that they couldn't recruit anyone in the the pre-season draft because they were too close to their cap.

Im glad he got another chance and I hope he goes well, not too well but well enough. Im just glad we got something for him.

Good luck to him.

Yeah, good luck to him.

Would love to see him up against Cox.

Hopefully his annual 3 odd games coincides with an Eagles v Saints match-up.

Team Main Lists must be minimum of 38. Clubs can also have 2 veterans either inside or outside the main list.

With the delisting of McGough & Murray, the retirements of Peckett & Powell and obtaining Gardiner & Birss via trades, we currently have 36 players which includes Veterans Harvey & Thompson(eligible 2007 year).

Clubs must draft a minimum of 3 players so without any further delistings and minimum 3 draftees the list would be 39 players.

good to see the majority of weagles (and other ) fans showing a degree of maturity on this post, generally wishing the guy all the best despite his history. well done everyone :thumbsu:

I guess it helps knowing you will still have Cox tearinng us a new one each time he plays us for the next 6-10 years:(

Mate, I can't wait for the first St Kilda, West Coast game to see Cox and Gardiner go up against each other.

Gardiner has some physical and mental issues but he also has an aggressive will to win and beat his opponent and I expect that will especially apply to Big Cox. If he's fit it could be good (though I hope not too good).

It will be interesting to see whether Gardiner goes down in history as the Phillipousis of the AFL. If he can put in a decent preseason (avoiding Lygon St for starters) I think the Saints will get some good mileage out of him. The guy is still a quality ruckman when his mind is on the footy. Unfortunately, of late, this has been a rare occurrence!

Yeah would be good to see Gardiner and Cox have a genuine contest - to me Im just happy that we may actually get to play you guys with a genuine ruck option...instead of this ridiculous idea that our midfield have to "shark" opposition hit outs all the time......f@rkon joke that was.
