WB picks 27 and 32 Syd (26 33 38 39 40) Nth Melb (42 47 48 49 55 58) Coll (41 44 51 57) and possibly even some of the GWS late picks will disappear on academy picks so our late picks could come in 10-15 spots on draft night. Ideally 50 59 60 and 70 become 35 44 45 and 55 and 35 is a live pick and the other three match Brownless with maybe a late pick left.

I wonder whether our strategy with picks was based on the assumption we’d take both Brownless and Scott as FS. When Scott chose Nth it affected our hand.

Really like the look of Clark. Smart ball user, quick, good leg. He’s my first pick I think for 12.

Shame we couldn’t get a deal done for a pick in the top 10/11. Two quality pick ups this year would be great.

I would have liked another top 10 pick but WCE didnt offer it and I agree with keeping Kelly.

I like Clark for all the reasons you stated. I know we dont often go needs but this year will be interesting. To me we are stocked fine for KPD ok for medium defenders rucks are ok (this is a crap draft for rucks anyway) fine for inside mids. Small forwards are hopefully a bit better with Dahlhaus Rohan and Jones/Simpson improving. But to me we are a bit one paced and we still need some burst from stoppage and class ball use especially if Kelly leaves. That's the type of player i think we are short on, that and a small defender and key forward (although Kreuger is that) would help.

It probably did although none of our fringe players had the currency to get us a 20-30 pick anyway.

Totally agree in terms of our list build. Although I still think we are just as desperate for natural goal kickers like S Sturt. Yes I know you aren't his biggest fan.

probably someone we have not talked about much...like Stocker

September ranking: 20

The Sandringham Dragon's stocks rose as the year went on, as he returned from a broken jaw to play some very strong footy towards the end of the season. The hard-working, strong-bodied and ball-finding midfielder won the Morrish Medal as the best player in the TAC Cup for his efforts. He kicks the ball well on both feet, is tough and mature and has the mindset to be playing AFL footy next year. Missed the Combine with a shoulder injury that he played with late in the season.
He is the one I mentioned on the draft thread a few days ago. Definitely one that looks very good with ball in hand and by foot, also has that break-away pace. Had we had those picks in the 20s, I would definitely pull the trigger on him then, especially at Pick 20.

I think Sam Sturt though at Pick 12 is early, but gives us more forward power for the future.
