I'd say pick 50 will definitely be 41-42 on the night.

Makes the Krueger trade a little rich. That pick would have ended up being 2nd round the way the cards have fallen.
If McLeod has endorsed him, every chance one of the sa clubs could have taken him before us. Especially Port who have no forward line. I'm very comfortable with how we went about it

I'd still take Menzel. He will be good in a Forward line next to Dahlhaus and Rohan.
I'd take Menzel any day before Murdoch. Just a nothing player with a nothing role lol. At least Menz kicks goals and actually has talent. Just that his body doesn't match that talent anymore.

I still think they can manage Menzel. I mean how good was he in the first 4 rounds of the season? He will be good as a deep forward, with the others pushing up the ground.

I like this idea. Menzel is probably one of our best players atm when the ball hits the deck in the forward 50 (provided there's a clean spill or he has good position). Just has real goal nous. Tackling does not have to be his job.

I love Menzel for what he has been through but enough is enough IMO. We cannot continue to carry a 1 legged player who comes in and out of team every few weeks - this team needs stability. We already have enough spuds who don't contribute on a consistent basis if at all - especially in the forward line. He isn't the biggest worry however he doesn't help either. Stop giving spuds like Parsons long term contracts and demand performance or ship the player out. We have killed years and years of development hanging on to hospital patients in the fairy tale hope they one day turn it around and its killed us.

To be fair, if Cockatoo actually comes good, he's literally an extra A grade player for us. That's one I'm willing to persist with 'til the end of time lol.

Menzel seems to be someone we should play for 12-14 games a season and have fresh for finals. A bit like Ablett over the next couple of years. I think he has a place, just not a permanent 22-25 game a season one.

Take any player you know will get matched at 12, then another at 13, and so on. Eventually pick 50 is pick 40 ;)
Honestly, I just went through the whole thing, pick 50 will change a little, 57 and 59 a bit, and 70 a lot. Here's a mock draft I made up to show how it could go

EDIT: Screwed it up the first time lol. Didn't include the original team pushing the next team further down

As you can see, this may be the most ridiculous draft period yet haha. We could actually use our pick 70, which theoretically could be at 63 instead. Also a possibility of other clubs trading out their picks to North and Collingwood for future picks, for their remaining academy prospects.

Apologies for the length of this post, but thought it might be interesting for those who might like an idea of what things could look like come draft night. Plus I was up late and couldn't sleep haha.

Enjoy!

Let's just hope other teams don't stuff up our F/S selection this year.
Screwed up the draft the first time lol. Amended and it's not as good, but I'll still take it. Hopefully can take Brownless with 53 if we get lucky. Maybe even 63 if we were ballsy.

Stocker is just as good as say Hamish Brayshaw who went like Pick 2 last year... imo. Pick 12 isn't at all that early for him.

He missed the champs, and the combine... So he is probably the one that's a little under-rated going into this draft.

Wasn't that Andrew brayshaw at freo who went number 2 ?
Hamish went to WC.

So, pick 12, eh? First rd 1 pick for a while... who’s Wellsy looking at? Who’s suffered a major leg injury recently?
Hmmm

Pathetic period by Geelong best draft for sometime and was unwilling to trade something out to get more 1st rounders , had a year to plan something.

As well no 2nd round because of the Ablett trade just poory handled.
look at some of the star players others got below we have to get aggresive and dynamic i think it's time that wells goes, since Blame left we have always beeen bent over and cant negotiate

ESS - Shiel
Hawks - Wingard/Scully
Freo- Hogan/Lobb
Coll- Beams

He's really done nothing in finals recently from memory. So I'm unsure if he's capable to lift his game into another level come finals

Stocker could play Round 1 next year...

Sturt and Clark may need some time, well Sturt definitely would require the most time out of those 3.

Which probably rules him out... we are not drafting that many players his size that take three years anymore (imo) ... we have taken Parfitt , Kelly , Fogarty ..etc and CC is waiting. If we could get in earlier maybe that changes . I don't know who need point for next year ... and those top 10 picks value is high.. so id say its a long shot

So as I read it one of Menzel or Murdoch stays ? Personally I would go Murdoch due to his leg speed. I thought we may have been a bit more active but overall pleased. Next trade period could be an active one with Taylor and Ablett retiring and guys like Smith out of contract we will have plenty of cap space. If we ended up with the extra round one next year also we would have been interesting
Gee it's going to be interesting to hear the news on Murdoch and Menzel on what will happen

Gee Collingwood gave up 2 1st rounder for Beams and his 29. We didn't give up no where near as much in reality for Ablett, moved on a couple position last year which wasn't much and gave up a 2nd round pick. I'm happy with that.

Read all the reviews on how experts rated our trading and drafts pick we now have to use.

I thought trading Kelly for unders would have been considered "soft" at the trade table. Now we are soft when we hold our ground. Have I got this correct?

I know it’s been talked about a few times but can someone give some clarity on how many picks we will make in the draft. There are different scenarios depending on how many rookies get upgraded as well. And if any of Menzel or Murdoch are given a new contract. It seems spots are tight so unlikely we will consider any delisted free agents perhaps only as a rookie or with a late draft pick.
How many rookies are on their third year and need to be upgraded?
How many list spots do we have?

Is Schlensog still on our radar? As an academy player if he’s not taken in the main or rookie draft we can add him to the cat b list is that still true? He seems like he’s still got a fair bit of development. Can’t imagine he’d be more than a rookie or very late pick.
