That's just absolute bollocks, Milera has proven he will be an excellent player as time goes on.
He has proven nothing. He has shown he could be an excellent player but not even consistently within a game let alone multiple games in a row. He cannot defend at all but that's on the coaches for playing him there. Must be played in mid where he could at least become what we hope

It's annoying that Maynard always plays well against us.

Maybe when he's past it in 6 years we can give the Pies 2 first rounders for a player we should have got as a father-son in the first place.
Tbf, Maynard would probably be in the AA team right now. Having a ripping season.

Before he ever played for Glenelg and West Torrens he played for the Melbourne Demons VFL, he was originally from Shepparton in country Victoria.

He might have got a lot of it not sure he did a whole lot with it. Just another MCrouch effort get 35+ but no real damage.
Thats crap, Laird was good tonight. He might have missed a few handballs but he got in there and got the ball out. His kicking wasn't intercepted which was a nice change. Good game from Laird tonight.

Was our best. 139 fantasy points. Next best was 103.

Do you think Laird will keep the midfield spot for the year or just keeping it warm until Brouch returns?
Yeah he will be in the midfield all year. Not sure whether we will see Brad back this year. Did some damage apparently slipping at home on his balcony. Likely bs and Brad is off end of year.

Some good signs.

Himmelberg suddenly looks quality. Frampton can piss off. McPherson and Sholl should be played every week from here. McAsey will be fine. He's a 19 year old KPP - give him time.

Smithers to half back is a no brainer. Yes he'll cough it up sometimes but without him we have nobody willing or able to do anything other than kick it down the line. He's got to stay there to give our young mids a chance.

At this stage of the rebuild we should just be looking for players we can lock in for 2021 and beyond. We look OK in defence, to a lesser degree up forward and dire in the midfield. Poholke and Gallucci needed to be playing like Keays this year. Instead Poholke can't get in the side and neither could Gallucci before he got himself injured. It's too much to expect Jones, McHenry and Schoenberg to step to that level this year. Really need to nail some A grade mids with our first rounders this year.

Tex - Competed well in the air, brought it to ground which is half the battle however his kicking killed his work. Smothered twice which has always been an issue of his game, it's a shame as you know you're going to get a decent kick most the time when he looks to push it forward aggressively, the but is whether he can avoid getting smothered...
Is Tex fit enough to get a run on a wing, Westhoff-style?
He could move between the two 50m arcs, can kick a goal from 50-55m out and is an accurate footpasser, would be a playmaker in space. That would give Fog and EH more room in the F50 too.

Matty was putrid again tonight. He just does nothing that advantages the team, gets it but there’s just nothing creative whatsoever.

Effort is there but he’s fallen off a cliff, totally devoid of confidence which you can see in his movement
I thought he has been better working with Laird. Not great but better.

The backwards possession that lead to McAsey miskicking it (and a Collingwood goal) was actually a positive move. It was a switch. Had McAsey's kick worked we had two players free down the line.

Laird and Berg have been the biggest surprises over the last couple of games.

Laird has turned himself into a seriously good clearance player. 37 disposals, a few inside 50s and 10 clearances, beast of a game.

Berg keeps crashing contests and is starting to clunk more too. Brought the ball to ground beautifully for Stengle’s 2nd goal. Also quite good below his knees for someone his height.
Where are all the berg is not a footballer comments from a few weeks ago from some posters! Ridiculous calls. Berg is worth persisting with

Really frustrating when he leaves his man at a stoppage to chase the ball and his man gets it. Argh. I guess even if he was standing next to him he wouldn't be able to catch the bloke to tackle anyway.

It's almost like opinions are based on exposed form.

Before the last couple of weeks he hadn't shown a great deal (including previous years games). Now he is starting to show something and so opinions change based off that.

I'm not sure what you are trying to prove.

Ugly: Blaming the umps. We are a sh*t show. We are responsible for us losing.

Some positives tonight. Would like to see those continue for a month.
No maybe not won but who knows they had basically double our frees and a lot of those were 50 50 holding ball etc interpretations and were momentum changes that put us again on the back foot.
Yes umpires didn't make all those bad kicks , turnovers etc or have us tire badly .
But that was disgraceful one sided umpiring.

His attutude looks to have changed. People want to see improvement and berg didnt show much even at sanfl level for past few yrs. Cut throat industry always has been if he didnt show somerhing at afl level im sure the club would have cut him end of yr. Interesting that frampton was brought in and plays the same pos and berg looks to be winning the spot.
