Re: Jacobs & Walker Trade Discussion

Good-o. Carlton won't accept fair compensation for Jacobs, they won't get a trade.

It's your marvellous Swann and Icke's fault - idiots and amateurs asking for pick 14, which was never reasonable, and losing access to the Bock pick in the first place which was then used for Tambling. If Swanbrains and Icky had managed to calm the fire in their pants they might have realised seeking the Bock pick first up would have been a smarter move.
Care to show me where/when the Bock Pick was ever offered up?

Thats right, you can't.

The reports in the media suggest that Adelaide offered up their 2nd round selection (in the #30's) NOT the Bock Compo Selection.

The Art of Negotiation: Start High .. and then compromise a bit lower.

Re: Jacobs & Walker Trade Discussion

anyone tried that trade week radio today? chrome and IE9 didnt work

Re: Jacobs & Walker Trade Discussion

Minson to the GC, the GC are also likely to snare Giles, looks like Jacobs would be off their radar

Re: Jacobs & Walker Trade Discussion

Still think Jacobs will be at the Crows next year, but if it takes Pick 14 or 18 then it's not worth it. Carlton are being ridiculous. I understand playing hard ball etc. but this is silly. Don't expect anything else from em though.

Re: Jacobs & Walker Trade Discussion

If the reports are true (and Emma Quayle is normally dead on) and we have turned down your offer of #14 for Jacobs + #18 and your second round pick (somewhere in the #30's) then I hope we end up re-signing Sauce for another year as opposed to selling him for unders.

I'd be more than happy for Jacobs to ruck with Warnock next year (and try to turn Hampson into a KPP).

I think the Bock Compo Pick will head to Richmond for Tambling.

According to the Hearld Sun the trade that has been rejected was pick #14 for Jacobs

Have a feeling we may have countered with something like a straight of sellar for Jacobs

Both clubs will probably meet in the middle which would be something like our 2nd round pick

I know it depends on who you listen to.

But I'd back Emma Quayle over Scott Gullan :)

Re: Jacobs & Walker Trade Discussion

as I said in the non Jacobs trade post

apparently the Jacobs deal is holding up the Tambling deal as Carlton now want the Bock compo pick

IMO Tambling is more important to our structure than Jacobs due to our lack of true outside midfielders

I say just do the Tambling deal and force that option of the table with Carlton

Re: Jacobs & Walker Trade Discussion

Was just mentioned on the AFL trade week twitter that Walker's manager Tom Petroro has just said that Sam Jacobs is part of the deal to get Walker to Adelaide as well. I will be so stoked if we get Jacobs, Walker and Tambling out of this trade week.

Re: Jacobs & Walker Trade Discussion

Trade Week Radio suggesting the Crows will have to give up Pick 14 for Walker. Not gonna happen.

PJ, I would not totally rule it out

re Jacobs and Walker may come in a package deal and could involve pick 14, who knows

IMO the combined run, carry and pace of Walker and Tambling will definitely improve our side...

A fresh start will be amazing for both players and I have no doubt that NC will back himeself to get the best out of these two blokes

If we snare them both I will get on the 34 / 1 crows 2011 Premiership odds..

Re: Jacobs & Walker Trade Discussion

Let me get get this right, Has Emma Quayle said Crows already offered #14 and Carlton wanted that and more?

No, she said we only offered an upgrade of their #18 pick (i.e. swap our #14 with their #18).

No.

Emma Quayle has said that Carlton have rejected #14 for #18 and Jacobs and have also rejected a straight swap for your 2nd round pick.

She claims we want the Bock Compo Pick.

That would be nice but count on none, and then any of three will be a bonus. :)

Putting 2 and 2 together including the comments that Jacobs is part of the Walker deal...maybe

Walker + Jacobs for 14 + third rounder.

OR

Walker + Jacobs + 18 for 14 + second rounder + Sellar

I doubt we'd give 14 for just Walker but maybe part of a package deal. I hope this all sorts itself out soon.

14 for Jacobs +18 is ridiculous, noone would accept that.

I would think 14 + Bock compo pick <--> Jacobs + 18 is probably closer to the mark and would be pretty close to what will finally be settled on.

14 by itself is too high IMO.

Got no idea of the truth, but now hearing Walker + Jacobs for Pick 18 + player, and Tambling for 2nd rounder.

Expect the worst, hope for the best:thumbsu:

I think we do have to be a bit realistic though. To get 3 players of that (potential) quality and not give up our first rounder in any deal would be the most amazing trade week feat ever I reckon.

I guess it depends on what Rendell thinks he can get at what pick in this draft. And how mcuh we rate our youngsters ie is our current midfield good enough that with the addition of Walker and Tambling to the midfield rotations, we don't desperately need to draft a mid at 14 (and is that mid drafted at 14 likely to be better than Walker or Tambling)

In terms of age and experience Walker and Tambling compliment our current group nicely. If they could, in a new club, finally realise the potential that saw them as top 5 draft picks then we would be laughing if we managed to snare them. Big if though...

Re: Jacobs & Walker Trade Discussion

If it is packaged with Walker & Sauce, Im ok with this

Sauce, Tambling and Walker in the crows side

Giddy up :D

Yeah - I'm with you. I can handle losing pick 14 if it means we get Walker, Tambling and Jacobs in the process. If we manage to somehow nab Carltons pick 18 in the process then I'll be laughing all the way to the draft!

Re: Jacobs & Walker Trade Discussion

I am happy to part with pick 14 if it is for a package deal for Walker and Jacobs BUT what we need to consider is what impact that has on our draft and list management.

If I recall correctly, for the next couple of years if a club upgrades a rookie to the senior list it can count as their draft selection. If we bring in Walker, Jacobs and Tambling what impact will that have on the list management.

How many more will need to be delisted? Will Jaensch be upgraded and counted as a ND selection? What about Thompson?

A lot of other things to consider here than just simply giving away picks. If we bring in 3 players for picks only, there would need to be some more players from the senior list that would need to be cut or traded away for picks.

That is still overpaying.

The Compo pick on its own is only just acceptable for Jacobs, let alone swapping first rounders! Anyone would think we are in a position of weakness in this trade. This is not a top tier ruckman we are going for!
