I can’t understand why any sensible list manager would do it
You raise a good question, and I don't have all the answers but JHF as exactly what we need as a club desperately elite powerful and pacey. Is there any risk yes of course but I'd like to get him back home as he is clearly home sick and settled and he is a Danger or similar for a decade plus.

If we could pick a up a Vic WA or NSW lad in the draft with those exact qualities, he may want to go home. This is an SA kid with those qualities that wants to play for an SA club. How many SA lads that bring to the table what JHF can in this draft or next?

GCS play him more in the midfield this season, he was one of the best goal assist in the league in the 2nd half.

really? Averaged 0.7/game in the second half of the year against 1.2/game the first half. Equal 6-14 on the table, but not because of his second half of the year. Nice try though, it's just basic football knowledge.

Can someone please explain to me why JHF (still not proven, possible problems with attitude) is worth A LOT more than some other top 5 draft pick - like basically double? I get that’s what you might HAVE to pay, but for the life of me I can’t understand why any sensible list manager would do it.

Do you really have a better chance of getting an absolute Brownlow-level player out of JHF than out of TWO very high draft picks? Or, look at it another way - are you better off with one JHF on the field than with two high picks on the field? Is he really that obviously and stratospherically better a prospect?
Because he is contracted, if he wasn't and show the same form as this year than pick 8 and a 2nd rounder would get the deal done.

Pretty clear that our role here is to be the spoiler. I would offer North 2 First Round Draft picks and a player. North can then force the Pear to pony up for 3 first round picks. While Port will be ok in the short term (with HF they probably finish top 4), they will then be hamstrung in future years. Boak, Dixon, Lycett and co are on the way out, Georgiades will head home, and I would imagine Butters heads back to Melbourne at the end of 2024 when his currency is at its highest....

Ok here’s a possible scenario I could see taking place.

Eagles give: Pick 2, J Rioli
Eagles receive: Pick 8, M Georgiades, Pick 56, Port’s 2023 3rd rounder

Port give: Pick 8, Georgiades, Pick 27, 2023 3rd rounder
Port receive: JHF, Rioli

North give: JHF, Pick 56
North receive: Pick 2, Pick 27

Gives North picks 1 and 2 this year, gets them pretty much pick 1 value for JHF, which they can use on Cadman and probably Wardlaw. Or they just take Cadman (they need talls more than smalls), and split the other pick for more assets.

West Coast get a major WA asset in Georgiades, and retain a pick in the top 10, which they might even like to use on a WA lad (Busslinger or Hewett).

Port get their 2 major targets, and can live with giving up Georgiades to do it as they know it’s more likely than not that he requests a trade soon enough anyway.

Serious question to Crows fans. If you had one choice on rebuilding your club the next 10 years, and only one choice, who would you go with ? Rankine or Horne-Francis?
I think Rankine has the potential to be a player that not many other players can replicate

JHF yes seems to be a powerful mid type but these types come around every year

If Port are going to secure JHF this trade period it will cost massive trade currency that might come back to hurt them in future years

Definitely surprise there, I thought his form was a lot better in the 2nd half but this was through kicking more goals. From round 9 is still consider the 2nd half isn't it lol.

Plenty. Same with Rankine. If situations were reversed, you'd have the opposite view to what you're presently espousing. You're marginally better than Subaru, but it's a tight go.
Incorrect, he is no Nick Dacios and shown "plenty". He hasn't shown anything in his 1st year, Port Power are just trading for a new draftee where he probably would have went pick 1 this year.

NM can do better than pick 2,27 on a contracted player of JHF quality. 2 high 1st + something minimum.
