Fagan all class in his presser.

“This is not Geelong's fault, but if you look at their last game of the season against West Coast, they were 100 points in front at half-time. It was a low-pressure, low-contested game. Then they have the week off, and then they play Port in a final where it was a similar sort of game, low-pressure, low-contest game. Then they have another week off," Fagan said.

"I just felt like, it's good to have the time off, but you need the games that you play to be really hard, tough games, and maybe at the end that showed. Our harder preparation enabled us to run the game out, and I would have thought that would have been a real challenge."

Brisbane were quite simply better.

We weren't terrible.

I hope they go well in the GF - but then again I respect Longmire too.

Might be an unpopular opinion but if we are giving Danger 2 years could he play out of the goal square and Neale can play ruck? I feel Dangers midfield days are coming to and end.
Neales not a full time ruck but Danger could take the Rohan role if he retires with his injury. I know people will mention OHenry but they aren't the same type of player, Dangers speed and tackling and his marking makes him like a Rohan who can occasionally pinch hit in the middle if needed.
We saw this year in the Dogs game you need 2 tall forwards, if Cameron gets locked down we have nothing.

Neale has to be our FF if fit, he showed a lot this year and I think early next season he will have one of those 4 goal+ break out games.

But we could easily accommodate a forwardline where we have Neale, Cameron and Henry as the talls/leading forwards, Danger/Close/Stengle as the small/pressure forwards, plus considering how often Miers and Mannagh float in and out of the f50 Danger is capable of that, and Danger is good above his head and has pace to lead.

He is as versatile as Rohan, Rohan is a far far more reliable set shot but I would back Danger in to get more of the ball especially if he is up around HFF. Danger also draws teams best players, so potentially means on a night like tonight Neale gets an easier opponent.

As a neutral who was going for you think you are being a bit too generous to Tom Stewart. Worst game I’ve seen him play. His man got off the chain, he constantly had the ball handballed over his head as he misread the play. He just wasn’t very good today

Midfield was beaten but had to be expected. It wasn’t as bad as the stats suggest. Geelong simply moved the ball with longer kicks and therefore less disposals

On the other hand the forward line played Henry and Miers played the best games of eaches career. Neale was very good (not his fault his good play was ruined by his teammates) and your forwards simply took the opportunities they had. Unfortunately I don’t think the midfield did enough to get them cleaner ball

Not much to worry about. Another 5 years ahead of this team to win one

Had chances, with some better decision making going forward maybe this game would be different but I don’t think we can argue the result based off the second half. Well done Lions. Let’s see how the Bailey Smith version goes in 2025 ❤️🙏🏼

Danger doesn’t get a game in our forward line TBH, he’s a mid or bust

Was a great game but a lot of what could have been about it.

Felt like we failed to adapt to Brisbanes clear game plan after half time to take the game on with speed, we seemed to try and go head to head with them there and we didn't need to as we were 2-3 goals up, there were times in that 3rd we just needed to slow the game down and allow our zone to setup.

A few real momentum killers like Mannagh's missed goal/pass to an easy goal, the bs dangerous tackle free against Danger.

I don't think the weather helped us in the end as it meant Brisbane weren't as punished for moving Joe to the ruck and made crumbing more important and Neale didn't seem to handle the conditions up forward for us.

Bit of an 08 GF feeling about it with some of those missed goals, on a different day Stengle would have had 4 but tonight everything he touched went wrong.

My issue with Neale is his marking, its actually pretty shit sometimes, besides Sav ive never seen a bloke get more falcons than him.

Can't help but feel we squandered a golden chance

We did, but after hearing Holmes would’ve missed, Jack Henry went off, Bruhn was battling something and Danger potentially suspended, I think we’ve saved ourselves getting battered by Sydney.

Brisbane were primed, quality all over the ground and they executed their plan tonight, although it sucks to lose another PF, we had a lot of inexperienced players out there tonight.

However agree that when you look at it that we were up against an interstate team with a weeks rest and at home at the G, yes that’s a chance gone begging.

The magic of 2022 eases nights like this.

Very proud of our Geelong team, yes disappointed.

After 2023, yet who imagined we’d make 2024 finals?

Prodigious beginning to 2024 season, then a slump. Danger et al injured, who returned to inject vitality + experience! Next we’re playing a PM.

Injured champions, some tired + struggling Premiership players AND sensational young guns, with totally unexpected + phenomenal Kittens!

Still. . .

Tonight’s loss is so disappointing.

Despite the loss, let’s celebrate our season 😻

No remorse, no doubt, no regrets.

We are Geelong!

In 2025. . .Go Cats 😻

Exactly this, can’t be mad.
Lions are hungry like we were hungry in 2022.

Sometimes it happens, we’ve been blessed to support this club.

Onwards and upwards 2025

Danger doesn’t get a game in our forward line TBH, he’s a mid or bust
Considering Stengles form tonight, if we had the options on the field I probably would have subbed him and sat Danger in the forwardline if we had decent midfield depth.

Will sting, always does. But that goes hand in hand with having your team play in meaningful games every year. Make no mistake about it, Brisbane were elite tonight. They have high end talent, and that talent was elite. Some of our less experienced went missing for periods, and some of more experienced were poor. Felt the umps gifted the lions some momentum swingers tonight, including goals assists.
The positives? This is a different team, with a lot of inexperience. When you had the ‘got to have it’ plays tonight, the Lions just did it better. Our younger guys will be so much better for it. SDK, Conway, Clark, Knevitt, Guthrie in the wings, we have a lot to be excited about. Add Bailey Smith and whoever else, and the future is bright. Bloody great performance by the club this year. Good luck Lions in the GF.

Midfield smashed. Neale, Zorko and Dunkley all with 28+.

Atkins, Bowes, Bruhn all under 15. Holmes 3rd most possessions and missed a half.

On to Get Bailey Smith.
Atkins tries hard but he struggles to have any offensive impact. He's at best a defensive midfield rotation player but has been forced to play as a starting mid. Bowes is better than Bruhn at this stage but both are B graders at their best. We were beaten by a better midfield that has multiple A graders. We've done really well making up for it in other areas. Too bad it was exposed tonight.

More wording for next week, but somewhat true that we had two training runs in a month. Before that saints sped things up in the 2nd half and dominated cats. Scott couldn’t deal with it again weeks later….Ross the boss exposed us with speed on the ball and Fagan learned the lesson.

Nah, I just checked with myself and can reconfirm that it's not hurting as much as 2004, when we seemed doomed to never have anything go our way.

There's a certain type of supporter, though, who seems to secretly enjoy losing because it allows them to rant and fume and enter Terry Wallace "spew up" mode.

We came from 12th, making things up as we went along, with a lot of players still finding their way at the level and gave it good shake ... and when it all seemed over, and we were seriously compromised by injury, we kept coming back.
