St kilda has a poor list and has something like 15 players out injured. We have Mckenzie injured at the moment.
Yep.

I've been critical of our list in recent times, but watching StKilda and Collingwood recently has changed my opinion. Even thinking back to how weak our 2014 list was that got exposed in 2015. We're living in this myth the club has propagated that our list is not good enough and has holes we must fill to have a perfect 22 and then suddenly we'll be fine.

Collingwood, the Saints, our 2014 squad show us that it just isn't the case. Our squad is good enough. We have a good enough side if they're all on the same page, under a solid gameplan and in it together.

We just aren't. Our coaching is the issue. It's a stale message, other clubs have shown that intangible refreshing quality that a new coach has, yet here we sit wasting an entire year because we were too afraid to take a soft cap hit on Hinkley.

He will be sacked, but once again this is all the boards doing. Their stability strategy, the long term extensions, the piss weak, anti-ruthless approach they are taking which filters down to our players and breeds this culture of malaise and believing we are better than we are. We're busy drinking our own bathwater while the Crows have become far more ruthless in recent times and are doing what they can to be better, while we just plod along, happy to not bottom out.

On the subject of tall backs I have been watching Gold Coast v Geelong and have watched Ratagolea closely. He is tall but does not look to be anything outstanding. Ratagolea could play as a the tall spoiling defender and allow Aliir to play as a tall intercept. If he is still in the market then maybe worth a try and could be involved in a trade of some sort.

I'd be more than happy for the club to shop Wines, DBJ around, Delist Scooter, retire Jonas and Boak, but I don't want us trading any young players ie Georgy. Unless we're bringing in someone young. Hinkley will be gone at some point this year and I'd be cautious not to trade away any future talent the next coach/coaching panel can work with!

Georgy, Butters, JHF, Hayes, Burgoyne, the talent is there, the coach is woeful and we know this, lets not throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Desperately need some tall defenders to replace Jonas and co. Pasini should also absolutely be in our starting 22 next year.
Pasini should be in our starting 22 next week.

Clurey till 2025 and DBJ till 2026. Atrocious list management. Would prefer neither to ever play again, together with Jonas
Letting go of one of McKenzie, Clurey or Jonas and picking up Ethan Phillips was one of the most no brain options to refresh our defence ever

Jack Graham would be one to go after for next year.

Monday morning reminder that the list isn't the problem, and we were just beaten by a far less talented Crows side due to better game style and coaching.

True, but I honestly think the main problem is the coaches have been there way too long are too soft and everyone is way too comfortable. Look at the internal trial and the pre season games in Perth they were dreadful, the SANFL side has absolutely no intensity. The coaching panel is back to the 2012 days. Matthew Lobbe head of development?
I think the Brisbane win was on the back of the excitement of having JHF and Rioli perform so well the rest of it has been absolute dross.

St. Kilda have something we lack which is a coach where effort is non-negotiable and Ross Lyon can coach. Unlike Hinkley. That's the difference
He definitely had an aura about him when he returned to St Kilda (as do the assistant coaches they appointed), as I have said a million times we are just drifting through years of nothingness these players need a rocket up their arse.

I cant excuse the players that much, surely theres a basic level of effort that is required, whether the coach is rubbish or not. What a new coach will do is weed those blokes out and its been a long time coming

The list has massive holes, they cant be ignored. We wont be competing for a flags until they are addressed

My point is, the Crows list has massive holes, yet beat us. The Collingwood list has massive holes yet they're flying.

Undoubtedly you always want to improve the list to the point we're unbeatable, but right now our most glaring issue isn't the list.

Honestly, we've played 1 good quarter all year. The third Vs Brisbane, take that out and we're probably sitting here without a win all year. The issues we have are endemic, salvaging this season would be a miracle.

id argue collingwoods list has massive holes in it. The one thing their players do it work hard, ours certainly dont, the stats show that, ya cant base all of that on the coach.

Actually I think you pretty much can blame 95% of that on the coach.
