From today's Addie; Thursday, March the 30th.
McKay has played only 52 games in seven-and-a-bit seasons, is out injured again with a foot fracture, and would command a salary in excess of $800,000 to move. Clearly, there is risk, and Carlton is interested, too, if Tom De Koning leaves.

Port is at the upper limit of its salary cap, but could entertain offers for ruckman Scott Lycett to help free-up some room for McKay.
Lycett, 30, arrived on a bumper five year-deal worth $3 million, but is out-of-contract this year and could come under selection pressure.

We have plenty of room to move in our cap.
Dixon isn’t getting anything like he has been on if he accepts our next offer.

Lycett. Crows need a ruck. Problem solved.

I nearly threw up trying to read this pro-Hinkley dribble. No other coach in this history of AFL has had such blatant PR campaigns run by the media. I don't get it.

Some highlights:

"What shouldn’t be lost is Hinkley’s outstanding home and away record (131 wins - 92 losses) entering his 10th season."

"Impressively, the Power rallied after the slow start last year, confirming the players all still believed in Hinkley."

"In contrast, West Coast faced a similar situation in recent years and raised the white flag. But Hinkley’s systems work. Even with some personnel issues down back, Port had the best defence in the league in 2020."

Do we have a home and away trophy cabinet?

It's probably been written as the club can already feel the unrest.

Tom Clurey being contracted until 2025 is actually insane.

Maybe Ethan Phillips. VFL Team of the year full back last year.
At the last draft, the media predicted we would select Phillips (from Port Melbourne).
We and every other club ignored him.

For what it is worth, Clurey has a foot problem that has precipitated him wearing a modified boot for the last few years.

I think if we didn’t get so burnt on Sam Skinner two years before. we would have picked Phillips up.

Jonas out, Wilkie in pls
A player who is genuine captain material. Contracted to end of 2024.

Desperately need some tall defenders to replace Jonas and co. Pasini should also absolutely be in our starting 22 next year.

I’d still love to see Hayes as number 1 ruck, but if he’s gone, we have to find someone. Lycett and Teakle are not the answer.

Clurey should be playing TJs role and Dougal Howard should be playing Clureys role. Shocking decisions.

Excluding the developing guys (McCallum, Marshall, Scully, Visentini, Barkla, Sinn), a good portion of our list just isn’t up to it and we knew that coming into the season.
McEntee, Dumont, Williams, Jackson(maybe still developing), Hayes (if you go by the club’s/Hinkley’s assessment), Lord.

Throw in that Evans (who actually has looked good) is a DFA, they selected an almost delisted McKenzie ahead of Clurey, the injury woes of Raz, the question mark over Teakle and the regression of Jonas and Lycett.

That’s 13 players that are not first 22 and fringe at best and another 4 who are developing and likely some time off. Gives us what, 27 players to pick from who are genuine first 22. And that’s giving Bonner, Farrell, DBJ, Jones, Pasini, Burgoyne and Mead more credits than they deserve, yet. So by my count we have a solid 20 players, but no ruck, no backline after AA and Burton and ageing Dixon and Boak.

The list does need some change but it shows what going all in for Junior and JHF has done. And what a shambles we have got ourselves into. But this can be turned around. And ordinary sides can play well, look at the Crows, Saints, North, Dons, etc

Absolute deadwood. Massive list problems in that 24-32 zone or so that will need to be rectified if we are to be competitive.
