Actually I think you pretty much can blame 95% of that on the coach.
nah your excusing the players way too much, and more importantly the senior players.

i cant excuse players playing in the prison bars or the Ebert game for their lack of effort, crap coaching or not, show some friggen effort, thats an absolute minimum. have some pride in your performance, kids i can excuse but not the senior players.

The worst examples of the senior players your accusing of letting us down are the ones who have a gold pass under ken, and will get the boot under a new coach.

As I posted previously that 5 goal haul yesterday was only the second time that Lukosius has kicked 2 goals in 76 games.
I see what you’re saying, but not an entirely accurate reflection of his output given he’s played 75% of his career at half back or on the wing.

Could see him having a breakout year this season though!

Yes, maybe this is his year. In any case Lukosious is contracted til the end of 2026 so if he has a breakout year he will become a pricey recruit.

On the subject of tall backs I have been watching Gold Coast v Geelong and have watched Ratagolea closely. He is tall but does not look to be anything outstanding. Ratagolea could play as a the tall spoiling defender and allow Aliir to play as a tall intercept. If he is still in the market then maybe worth a try and could be involved in a trade of some sort.
Agree, Ratagolea is not the answer; that ship has sailed.
With limited draft capital we will be chasing free agents hopefully not Sav.

Absolute deadwood. Massive list problems in that 24-32 zone or so that will need to be rectified if we are to be competitive.
Give the so called developing players a go. No progress in the SANFL so developed em in the Seniors.
McCallum, Williams, Pasina, Sinn and Evans could come in.

SCG is a small ground, ideal week to give Hayes another chance with Finlayson being the mobile ruckman.

McCallum is nowhere near ready and Sinn needs a few more weeks building fitness. I'd be happy to see the others you mention given a run, although it's just deckchairs until Kenny sails off into the sunset

Obvious cuts:
- Dumont, McEntee

Retirements:
- Jonas, Lycett

Players I would throw a few games to, to see what they can do:
- Lord, Williams

Players I would trade for magic beans:
- DBJ, Clurey, Mead, Bonner, Farrell

Agreed re McCallum he's miles off it atm, and Sinn needs at least another couple of strong performances with the Maggies before being considered for AFL selection, if we play him at the top level too early the risks of him breaking down again and missing a huge chunk of yet another season are way too high.

99%

I would put Mead into the Lord and Williams category.

But absolutely. Anyone with half a brain understands Ken is on the way out and Pinning our hopes for one last dip at a flag on Dixon and Boak should be dust by round 8.

I would love Boak and Dixon playing another couple of years under a different coach, but need to blood 10 games into Lord, Williams, Hayes and Mead. No matter how far they are from it. Give them some games to see if there is ANYTHING there for the next bloke to use!

Love Willimas to get a game, disagree with Dumont as an obvious cut.
As a former AFL Vice Captian he costs up peanuts

Interrupted this morning, therefore I did not finish my Dumont reply completely; so here goes.

Dumont is an ideal age for footy being 27 and was praised as the only person who showed leadership in the SANFL last weekend.
When he played on a wing last year, Boak game improved dramatically; Dumont was not dropped, he lost his position because of injury.

Depending how they improve, young guns like Bergman and Sinn should end up as on-ballers (and not wingman).
Given our propensity for trading back into the draft, both young guns may end up as go home trade bait.

I'm just going by the description from the magpies game (which i admittedly didn't watch) where he was described as being on the same tier as Sutcliffe in terms of uselessness.

Possibly harsh, given he doesn't seem to have trained at all over summer, but as a fringe player he needs to be making a strong case for retention or we should be cutting him in favour of a young high risk/high reward tall (or goal kicking small).

Durry Bong Cones is a VC and I'm just about prepared to package him with Rozee and Butters just to get him the **** off our list, so VC doesn't mean much

At the last draft, the media predicted we would select Phillips (from Port Melbourne).
We and every other club ignored him.

For what it is worth, Clurey has a foot problem that has precipitated him wearing a modified boot for the last few years.
For the last few years? You're kidding right? So we sign him until 2025. We are run by morons.

Our out of contract list is dire.

We are going to have to keep some lucky players...and we have stuff all draft picks!

2023
1 Tom Jonas - retire
10 Travis Boak - might retire
12 Trent McKenzie - likely retire
13 Orazio Fantasia - possible de-list. Probably get a year on low $.
14 Miles Bergman - hopefully keep but might leave.
19 Mitch Georgiades - hopefully keep but might leave.
22 Charlie Dixon - keep short contract.
24 Kane Farrell- likely to keep but meh.
25 Sam Hayes - likely to leave for nothing.
26 Riley Bonner - likely to leave free agent.
27 Brynn Teakle - probably keep but i don't see much there.
29 Scott Lycett - probably retire
30 Oliver Lord - ?? has he shown anything
34 Dylan Williams - got delisted and picked up as a rookie as he had a contract. Assume he will go.
36 Jase Burgoyne - keep
39 Hugh Jackson - delist
41 Jed McEntee - delist
43 Trent Dumont (rookie)- see how his year goes with injuries.
45 Nathan Barkla - delist.

Not all can go at once as we do not have the picks to replenish the numbers, but yeah; some of the Gold passes should expire.
Maybe we have to give up something good to get back something good.

Bit harsh on Barkla, only just arrived as a Category B rookie; he is not taking up any spots.
