Mitch is currently a second round pick and there’s simply no way known we win on that deal. We might be able get Nik Nat out of West Coast? That would be embarrassing.

Mitch wants to stay all he needs to do is sort out the yipes and we can offer a half decent contract.

We’ve had a look at Lord and I like him good below his knees great attack on the ball 21 years old and plenty to work with.
Dixon wants a 3 year contract we are only going to offer 1 year but he’s going to get better offers elsewhere.
Personally I would rather put the time into Lord and Dante than blink in negotiations with Dixon.

Dixon gets us a 2nd round pick?

You're not gonna get a second rounder for a 33 year old middling KPF. Token pick at most.

Where did this come from? At 33 at the end of this season, I wouldn't think he seriously expects to be contracted to 36.

I could see his management asking for 3 years in a ploy to get the 1 year offer upped to 2 years. A negotiation Port would probably agree to if he ends up predominantly playing ruck later this year and gets through it. With Lycett done, Hayes having a line drawn through him and Teakle not the answer, Dixon the ruckman could be quite important for a couple of years to sort out that list management blunder.

Buddy turned 36 this year, I would be very surprised if in 3 years, Charlie is competing at a higher level than Buddy is currently. Which personally I wouldn't sign up for.

Also when you compare it to other players didn't Westie, Gray and Boak pretty much from age 30 just have rolling 1 year contracts?

Likewise, I thought Ryder was offered the same, 1 year with trigger but left for the saints for a longer deal, cant remember specifics but thought it was a guaranteed 2 year deal with +1 trigger.

I suspect Dixon would be more Paddy like than Robby or Trav.

paywalled. anyone read it?
Nothing groundbreaking- seems to be taken from a Hinkley presser and the Davies interview on Gettable with some journalistic licence.

Fantasia needs to string games together for a new contract- that’s obvious for someone who in the last two years has played on less AFL grounds than Ed Sheeran.

Dixon- discussing a one or two year contract. Expected to sign mid year.

Georgiades- Port keen to resign but contract depends on whether playing afl.

Bergman- negotiations soon to ramp up but Port keen

Lord- seen as Dixon replacement- Port keen to sign

Farrell- Port keen to sign

Jonas- Port will consider “intangibles” when deciding if to resign him. He wants another year but has been battling knee soreness.

Of course Port are “keen” to sign everyone.

How else will they pump up the tires for draft capital?

Jonas should be getting the Roger James treatment. Time is up.

If we are being serious, you let Jonas, Raz, Lycett and Dixon go this year, sign the others. Dumont also out the door.

But can’t afford to lose Hayes, Lycett and Dixon in the same year.
I would keep Dixon on a 2 year agreement due to our diabolical ruck stocks, and Fantasia on a reduced or rookie arrangement.

Jonas, Lycett and Dumont should all get the sayonara, as should probably Boak, although he doesn't deserve to be in the same conversation as a couple of way past its, and an arguably never was.
