Would Mason Redman make us better? Whose spot does he take? I haven’t watched him much but seems like he may be gettable.

Would Michael Walters be worth a year or two deal? Might sneak him and us a flag playing as the creative half forward/crumber/goal sneak that we are missing.

Luke Dunstan as a rookie? Ready to step in as that big bodied mid, helps the SANFL side, comes cheap, seems happy to play the role at Melbourne, come as a DFA.

I'd only go for Redman if we lose Bergman, otherwise he's surplus. Pretty sure he's crows bound anyway.

I'd rather us not full Choco-mode and top up with every mature player in the hope of prying open the window another few inches. We have a great young midfield core, priority should be to build around them.

No. We already have Dumont.

Perhaps Essendon could look to a hybrid defender to help out. Port Adelaide’s in-form backman Miles Bergman might be an option.

Bergman continued his hot form and career-best season against North Melbourne on Saturday, finishing with 21 disposals, 11 intercepts, 10 marks, eight score involvements and 588m gained. “He’s become a weapon. In the space of eight games, he’s really weaponised his kicking,” Brownlow Medallist Gerard Healy told Fox Footy. “He’s almost at the level now that he needs to be stopped and tagged.”

I see what you’re saying but Redman is 25, McKay I think the same. They would fit in with our age profile very well. Probably get 4-6 years out of each. Dunstan would be instead of Dumont and, I think, is an upgrade on him.

The age comment was more in relation to Walters. I'd prefer to stick to an age limit of 27 so we can expect 5 years out of them and not having to be constantly bringing in short term stop gaps.

We'd be rucking Wylie buzza right now if he was still on the list lol

We have 4 ruckmen, not including part timers. On paper a 5th shouldnt be necessary at all

What is the status of the EBA negotiation? Is that what is holding up re-signing Bergman?
No: it is Bergman missus (both from Melbourne).
She finished Uni last year, I have lost track of where she may be living, working etc.

While an absolute gun and a great fit for us Darcy is a pipe dream. The odds he leaves freo are pretty long, especially while under contract, and the chances he comes here if he did and not back to vic and the teams that would have been in his ear for years are even longer.

Freo would want he world for him, and while I think Darcy is one of the most influential players in the league and one of my favourites, I would be massively nervous about giving a long term contract to a 110kg ruckman due to concerns around longevity.
And he is an ex-Geelong Falcon boy.
If he were to leaves Freo it will be for the Cats

Dunstan is too good to not be on an AFL list
