More than one thing can be the problem.

And one thing can be a bigger problem than the other thing. Every team has role players. Replacing our bottom tier players with slightly better bottom tier players isn't going to get us anywhere.

We've spent almost all of our draft capital in the midfield. There's actually no problem with that, as our reasonably strong form through most of the season proves. Where it all starts to go awry is when that part of the ground doesn't deliver for us. You didn't see Judd, Cousins and Kerr go missing in big games, they delivered when it mattered and dragged the rest of the team with them. Until our big names who we have invested big draft picks and big dollars in start performing on the big stage we will continue to be an also ran, no matter how many 'holes' we fill with acquisitions from other clubs to slightly improve our bottom tier players.

I don't disagree with the first sentence but if it applies to this off season, it is a bit more disagreeable.

You are right. Changing the deckchairs on the Titanic is not going to do much. Sweet, Ratugolea and Zerk-Thatcher seem to be upgrades and you never know how they will excel in the team. They could also be colossal busts as well. The only thing with real gusto you can say is that they will straighten up the spine.

The second paragraph I agree with the sentiment overall but not completely.

Every young team, including the West Coast Eagles of the mid 2000s went through finals loses to get to the eventual win for the flag. I think it is a bit disingenuous to say that they were a juggernaut from the start unless you are counting drug deals in the process. It is exceptionally rare in just about all team sports that a young team wins it all really quickly. It takes a while and maturity needs to be learned. Even the immortal Michael Jordan took 8 years to get his first chip.

But yes, it was disappointing to see the young midfield not answer the questions of finals. No doubt. Now, it was their first year together. They have plenty of work to do and a lot of time to do it in. The window has opened and it is of great detriment that scaredy cat Ken is the guy running the whole show as he is clueless..

I assume this is garbage reporting but just sharing.

Stephen Rowe =
Gordon Ramsey Idiot GIF

Lol if Wines to Cats happen I want
Port out pick 37 Wines for Cats Sav an 1st round pick.
If needed we pay part of Ollie's contract
You don't like to give up on great players at the club but for the right price and if Wines was happy to go, I would seriously entertain that.

The Cats struggled with inside midfield play this year and Ollie is contracted for a fairly long time.

He is fourth or fifth in line in our midfield.

I don't think it would happen but there is a lot of sense to the deal.

Your assumption is correct. Stephen Rowe has the mental capacity of a 3 year old.

i hope its very true

Genuinely intriguing where Sinn ends up.

I still think he makes it but maybe I’m just being blinded by hope.

Certainly the evidence we have suggests he probably doesn’t make it.
I'll reserve my judgement until I see a solid block of footy and a season where he's injury free. I want to see him playing on the wing I think.

I wouldn't mind seeing our team look something like this at the end of next season

B Zerk-Thatcher Aliir Burton
HB Houston Bergman Farrell
C Burgoyne Wines Sinn
HF Powell-Pepper Georgiadis Rioli
F Finlayson Marshall Horne-Francis

Ruck Sweet Rozee Butters
Int Visentini, Duursma, Williams, Drew

Sub Jackson

Emerg Lord, Jones, Mead, Fantasia

I know it won't happens heaven forbid that Stinkers will play forwards who could score.

Our small forwards are rubbish what are you on about?
By manufacturer goals out of nothing Evans has proved he has an X factor.
He can mark overhead and stand up in the tackle where a couple of his goals were kicked with blokes hanging off him.
He was the leading goal kicker for the Magpies, in the AFL he kicked four and was dropped, then dropped again after kicking three.

McEntee would not get a game for North or the Eagles, absolute rubbish for McEntee to have a gold pass he provides so called forward pressure. It is the job of all forwards to provide pressure; and no one provides more forward pressure than SSP.

How about this as an idea, pick forwards who know where the sticks are.

Agree, he shows some good over lap run from the back line this year.
If his body holds up, he is a Monty to play for the Power off halfback and wing.

You’re getting two second rounders back In that deal plus BZT? I saw rumours of you guys saying your future first is on the table and you’re gonna trade it to teams that have similar picks around this proposed deal?
Port may indeed trade next year's first for two second picks but the second rounders would need to be a big improvement on our current 37 (that has morphed into 38 after North's begging bowl was filled by the AFL).
Why don’t you guys get back Dougal Howard? I remember you guys wanted a top 10 pick in 2019 for him when the saints acquired him and you guys weren’t happy with the compensation.
He got dropped for the finals by Ross and he’s better than BZT and OR17. Unless he was a mercenary and left on bad terms, I’m not aware aware of any of that. That way you don’t trade a future first for these spuds you want to acquire in this season.
Howard now lives in Melbourne where he may end up at North.

Sorry I wish it wasn't true but Frank the tank is so slow that he is almost useless in a defensive sense. As an opportunist goal sneak he shows qualities but really Rioli does it better and he's quicker. McEntee doesn't belong on an AFL list and must be given the easiest KPI's in the competition to keep his spot. Its like playing with 17 men.

Why would anyone give any credence to what the rabid Crow supporter and former player says about Port?
Where this year Port played Wines out of position where he could not optimise his strengths as an in & under player.

What a stupid decision it was to place Wines on the wing.
