Yep. Credible news outlets are fine.
And here is the problem. Rags like this are as far left wing as fox is right .
Don't lump fox in with breitbart.
At least fox gets democrats in for their opinion and counter arguments . Not like the NYT and Washington post who are just echo chambers of liberal opinions without facts

Did you work out where the “35 states are trying to remove ID requirements for absentee voting” came from?

Probably just honest mistakes, no doubt.

Actually, the Washington Post has several prominent Republican or conservative/neo-conservative columnists, including:
- Dubya speechwriter and defender of CIA torture techniques, Marc Thiessen
- Former Fox News contributor George F. Will
- Joe Scarborough, former Republican congressman and Koch-lover

Where do you get this from? 35 seems like a very high number of states. It’s certainly more states than the Democrats control, so obviously it’s not going to happen in 35 states.
Did you work out where the “35 states are trying to remove ID requirements for absentee voting” came from?
I told you my theory.

You cited an exact number of states. Where’d you get it from?

Some questions are tricky.

Like “hey, that fact you stated, what’s its source?”

This thread made me get the itch to re-watch the TV series The Newsroom. I don't know if it was prescient or just highlighted an issue that I had not yet noted.

Yet we still don't have an answer for why African Americans need to do absentee voting?
You want answers to statements yet fail to do the same thing when asked .

You’ve had my answer.

It wasn’t sarcasm, it was my suggested reason (without any source to back it up) why needing to vote by mail is a particular issue for the black community. It makes sense - they’re over represented in “essential” jobs that require them to work through lockdowns, so IMO they’d be likely to be over-represented in jobs that make it difficult to take time off to vote on a Tuesday. But I don’t have stats.

Still waiting on yours champ.

So your answer was you just made something up ?

I put forward a theory. I’ve said that repeatedly. I never pretended it was any more than that.

You said Democrats are trying to get ID requirements removed in 35 states. That’s not a theory. It’s a pretty specific stat. Where’d it come from?

If the answer is it came out of your arse, just say so. I don’t know why you would be reticent to do that. You’ll probably be offered a spot on the White House communications team.

35 states in America allow absentee voting.

Actually they all do to some extent.

Where’s the evidence that they’re all trying to remove the ID requirement?
The Republicans are currently spending 20 million dollars to try and thwart states making it easier to cast absentee votes, it is clear they are trying to stop people, especially black people from voting to improve their chances in November. It will be a shit show.
Making it easier for ballot harvesting .

Making it easier for ballot harvesting .

So your evidence for your claim that all states are seeking to remove identification requirements for absentee ballots is:

- someone else’s post in this thread
- that doesn’t say all states
- and doesn’t say anything about identification requirements.

Would you like a shovel or do you think you’ve dug yourself a deep enough hole?[/B]

1 Not all states 35 with a certain absentee voting criteria. Used to be 36 but California changed their laws and the ballot harvesting happened in there midterms.
2 the ID requirements are for the people turning in the absentee ballots.
Your more than welcome to do your own research on the subject if your wound up about .

At least I didn't just....
I put forward a theory.

If you can’t see the fundamental difference between this exchange:
Y: Why do blacks need absentee votes?
M: Well, off the top of my head it could be this I guess
Y: WHERE ARE THE STATS ON THAT?
M: I don’t have any, it’s just a theory
Y: SO YOU’RE MAKING THINGS UP!

and this exchange:
Y: 35 states are trying to remove identification requirements for absentee ballots!
M: That sounds wrong. Where did you get that figure?
Y: WELL A POSTER SAID SOMETHING ON THE TOPIC AND DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH AND ALSO GIVE ME THE STATS ON WHICH YOU BASED YOUR PREVIOUS THEORY

then I think I’m done with this interaction.

You stated something as a fact. When asked where the fact came from, you deflected and obfuscated and then told me to look it up myself, instead of just admitting you’d plucked it from your arse. If you’d given me an insulting but somehow catchy nickname you could actually pass for Trump himself.

Because they’re statistically more likely to be working on a Tuesday and to find it difficult to take time off to go vote?
Is it not fair to ask for statistics when you post this ?

It's a bit hypocritical that I need to put up links and cold hard facts yet you guys can put up theories sighting 'statistically' And it's all good .

Then when asked about the stats you just shrug and say I made it up

It’s fair to ask. But I don’t know the stats. I thought I made that pretty clear. I don’t actually know whether or not black people are more likely to be prevented from voting because of work.

Are you saying you don’t know how many, if any, states are trying to remove ID requirements and you’re just guessing as well? I mean, you quoted an actual number.

This is pretty much how I think it will play out. Republicans aren't interested in democracy only winning and retaining power.
