Two years at $500k has been reported across several media outlets. The guy just won his 3rd B&F aged 28 and every team in the comp would love him in their midfield. Its a low ball offer that TBH is quite baffling.

Unless the Swans know Parker's knee is about to fail or some other medical reason its baffling.

Clubs play games around FA compensation.

He’d certainly attract high compo, maybe they like the sound of that?

Dunkley is a better player with more potential, also similar age as their other stars - Parish, Merrett, etc.
I rate Dunkley, but in what world is he a better player than Parker?

He might be in a few seasons time, but he's certainly not at this stage.

Dunkley in 2018/2019 has reached levels Parker has not in the 10 years of his career.

Dunkley in those years were clear top 5 in the comp if not Brownlow worthy.

Parker is a good top 25 in the comp midfielder, but he’s never reached that top group of midfielders.

Dunkley has not once finished top 10 in the Brownlow race. Parker has on 3 separate occasions. Dunkley has not won a single B&F. Parker has won 3, including one in a team that finished Minor Premiers, and made the Grand Final. If you compare their seasons at each age, Dunkley's 2019 season as a 22-year-old is the only season you could feasibly rate higher than Parker's season at the same age. But let's not let facts get in the way of your argument.

That's because Dunkley only played 19 games in 2018.

And he was played out of position in the forward line for early 2019.

In the 15 games he played midfield in 2019, he received 15 Brownlow votes, so an average of 1 vote per game, and it arguably could've even been more if he didn't have Bont & Macrae stealing votes off him. Parker has not averaged 1 brownlow vote a game for the last 5 years.

Dunkley is one of those players where if he receives respectful midfield minutes, he will instantly become that top 10 midfielder in the comp if not top 5. And the 2nd half of 2019, was the best 15 games patch I have ever seen a 22 year old play.

You might be the only one rating Dunkley higher, facts show Parker is superior. He's also an outstanding leader, he's the type of player Gold Coast desperately need, Clarko would love to have him at GC in 2023

I think you're misinterpreting my point.

There is no question that Parker has outperformed Dunkley to date, which is fair because Parker is nearly 29 and Dunkley is only 24. The point is, it's not even just that Dunkley has the potential of being better than parker.

It's that he has demonstrated across almost an entire season, that his ceiling is much higher than anything Parker has ever produced.

And for the club bringing Dunkley in, there's no uncertainty or dependence on Dunkley to realize his potential/improve (it's not like for Adam Cerra, where you are paying a premium on his expected upside). All he needs is decent midfield minutes and he will instantly become an All Australian midfielder.

Dunkley's current ability is already greater than Parker (which doesn't contradict with Parker's performance over a long period of time, since he's had a longer career and move time to prove himself), and has scope to develop further.

Lol.

Gold Coast will need to use all their available cap space to resign their big three OOC young guns.

I think ultimately he stays at the Swans, a compromise will be reached between the two parties I am sure.

There are different roles as an inside midfielder, you have the (1) extractor - Neale/Titch/Selwood (2) big bodied defensive mid - Greenwood, JPK, Yeo / (3) offensive mid with either pace or skills - J Kelly, Danger, Macrae.

Dunkley can satisfy both (1) and (2) and has almost every attribute you could possible look for, and when he plays, he makes the offensive mids like Macrae play so much better.

If Dunkley plays a full-time midfield role and is fully fit, I expect him to match if not beat even the likes of Oliver, Neale, Steele in a head to head contest.

Stop bein a total dick and playing the man.

All of these are valid points. Not trolling.

And as I posted originally I think the Swans are doing the right thing not overpaying for say a 4 year deal. But 2 x $500.........he won't re-sign for that unless something is added somewhere.
Well cmon, lets see who it was that came up with the 500K for 2 yrs.

Sauce

You're so keen to assume something so stupid must be true, it must be a serious trustworthy source.

Dunkley being played out of position doesn't really substantiate your point. In fact, Parker averaged more goals than Dunkley in 2019, despite Dunkley playing forward, and the Bulldogs kicking 39 more goals than the Swans. Parker was 2nd in the Brownlow in 2016 in a midfield that included Kennedy, Hannebery, Heeney, Mitchell, and Jack. The Bulldogs midfield is scarily strong, but Dunkley's inability to crack into it is still a reflection of his ability. Parker was rarelyr played out-of-position in a seriously strong midfield, despite a greater ability to go forward and kick goals. Dunkley has received 23 Brownlow votes from 72 eligible games. Parker 109 from 194. Parked polled more votes in 2016 than Dunkley has in his entire career. Your point is not substantiated by anything, and it's embarrassingly wrong.

Also, it doesn't matter how many games Dunkley played in any given season, I'm only comparing averages. Parker is ahead in most important areas at the same age as Dunkley, every year except as 22-year-olds, and even then, there's virtually nothing between them, and Parker was playing in a team that, once again, finished Minor Premiers, and made a Grand Final with a midfield including all those aforementioned players, except Heeney.

So if the reports are true and St Kilda are out of the running for Parker then surely that puts the Suns at the front of the queue for his services for the time being.

Parker would be a great fit for the Suns. Would give their younger midfielders someone to learn from and also someone to take the pressure off them while they are still developing.

Match that offer and we can't afford to keep half our young players. Guys like McInerney, McDonald, McLean, Warner, Rowbottom, McCartin, Gulden and likely Campbell will all be wanting pay rises soon.
True, hmmm its hard because Parker is a Co Captain who just won the B&F, it would be weird seeing him leave the year after. Hoping that Sydney and Parker find a middle ground

I have been advocating for letting Parker go on the Swans board as while losing him is not good, I would rather lose Parker than lose 3 players on the list I had earlier.
