I reckon Gold Coast throw the kitchen sink at him

They ad someone like Parker to their list in the middle with those kids and they start to propel up towards the 8

Cannot believe the $500k figure being thrown. Is that a pay cut? How could he not be on $700-800k. They were paying Hannebury that kind of money to do SFA. I thought Buddy's payments were due to go down, something doesn't add up.
Clearly somethin wrong with Sydneys salary cap atm, I assume they will "fix" (let go of a couple of others) it though since losing the co captain and reigning b&f would be crushing

Never been a more perfect recruiting target or point in time as it is now for Gold Coast to go after Luke Parker. Jetison almost anyone on big money to fit him in.

It's common knowledge that Hayward is on 500+ a year, for whatever reason i dont know why. I'm sure there must be a few others similar then.

If they get him i dont think they have an excuse for missing the 8 anymore
Agree but Witts ACL so have no proper ruck still. Unless we make a bid for Chol. We got smashed without a proper ruck, and no Zac Smith does not count

Suns been crying out for someone like Parker for a very long time. Parker is some how available? We have to chuck the kitchen sink at it, Dew has to have some connection at least? He tried to get Jake Lloyd over a few years ago, surely he can pay up for Parker.

Miller, Parker as two A graders in the mid, Rowell & Anderson coming up. Swallow, Greenwood & Parker rotating forward and mids

Well Smith is retiring so yeah he doesnt count, A ruck is definitely the big weakness but you should be able to get atleast someone in whoes better then what you have now, which i guess probably isnt saying much

That colossal Buddy contract hurting bad when clubs are most vulnerable...

Sydney no longer has COLA, cap size recently reduced...makes Buddy's contract even more costly than what it is on paper

Tbh I can understand Sydney not paying Parker 700 - 750k...

Turning 29 in a month, 4 year deal means he gets paid 750k at the age of 33, and the contested way he plays doesn't usually lead to high durability either.

The logical move would 100% be to sell him off to GC and try grab their 1st pick. The complication comes from Sydney's club strategy, and their proximity to a flag.

Although I actually see a lot of opportunity for Sydney. Sydney has like what, 500k in their cap for a starting midfielder?

(1) Trade Parker + Pick 12 for Pick 3 + Pick 22
(2) Grab Dunstan as a FA (who I don't even rate as being that much worse than Parker, very similar players). Even Matt Crouch, Lapinski, etc would all be virtually free, and all do similar things as Parker, although at various levels
(3) And if you really want, you can easily bring in a gun with pick 3, only problem is the structuring of your salary cap

From a list management perspective, it's the cost effective Dawson and Hewett that they should be holding. At this point, GC really does not need any more picks, and they are absolutely desperate for proven talent.

Edit: UNRESTRICTED free agent?????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Parker is one of the better goalkicking and overhead marking midfielders in the game. He's a reliable without being special kick, and has multiple genuine offensive weapons.

The only comparison to Dunstan is that they share a first name, and they're both inside-ish mids.

Obviously you're now aware he's an UFA so no trade needed, but the extremely limited dealings of handball specialist Matt Crouch, the depth mid Pat Lipinski, and the running in quicksand Luke Dunstan should not be compared to a genuine gun mid.

Bang on.
Parker’s true value is his goal kicking capacity as a mid and ability to play significant minutes forward if required as a HHF.
He can get tagged inside but that’s where he will roll forward and beat his immediate opponent in the air and score or a good defender has to pick him up letting someone else get off the chain a little more.
Those others can’t do that. Lipinski may end up a break out in a similar vein but I doubt at the same level as Parker.
Love to hate him in Red and white but would soon be a fan fav in the brown and gold.
Parker and Wingard starting on a hff or rotating through the middle together would be a ridiculously good outcome for Hawks

And the Swans have low balled him big time offering $500k pa for 2 years. WOW!
That looks like a offer to encourage someone to leave.
IMO the Swans are doing the right thing too. Don't pay overs for aging stars.
This is why we come here.
To watch supposed grown ups latch onto a throw away troll by a random goose, then run with it.

The only thing we know is due to the covid changes in caps/salaries, Sydney's has now become "tight". Wont be the only one...we're just the only club that has been reported so far this year.

Sydney has more than likely had a running 3 yr deal at around 750K+ on the table all season waiting for him. Parker is probably just asking for 4 or maybe even 5 to match potential duration offered by other clubs....he's doing the right thing and so is the club, and after another big season i'm comfortable he will get something sweet for 4yrs and stay.

The only legitimate concern is a club like Gold Coast gets tropical and offers him a monster deal over 5yrs.

Stop bein a total dick and playing the man.

Two years at $500k has been reported across several media outlets. The guy just won his 3rd B&F aged 28 and every team in the comp would love him in their midfield. Its a low ball offer that TBH is quite baffling.

Unless the Swans know Parker's knee is about to fail or some other medical reason its baffling.

All of these are valid points. Not trolling.

And as I posted originally I think the Swans are doing the right thing not overpaying for say a 4 year deal. But 2 x $500.........he won't re-sign for that unless something is added somewhere.

Where did you read that? Doesn't sound right at all, and haven't seen that reported or mentioned anywhere, so not sure it's "common knowledge".

Also, why would Hayward's contract be leaked?
