Matthew Lloyd

He is probably best forward this decade.
He kicks less goals when he is at CHF but is still getting 3-4 goals from there most weeks.

Probably didnt deserve the goal of the year and has dived a lot less in recent times.

The keyboard warriors are out in force today.

Let's talk reality. Assuming Lloyd kicks around 3 goals a game which was his average from 2007 and 2008 (that's disregarding his goalkicking figures from his younger days, for anyone on this site who struggles with reading) and stays fit (notwithstanding a few games here or there, which is built into the calculation) he will reach 1000 goals sometime in the second half of next season. Furthermore, if he continues to play on and kick his late-career average of 3 a game, in the second half of 2011 he will pass Doug Wade to sit below only Lockett, Coventry and Dunstall.

At such a time when the first, and possibly the second, of these events occur, he has earned the right to be classed as one of the best forwards of all time.

People say players have 3 progressions

1. First start play - play for love of the game
2. Middle of career - play for money
3. End of career - play for love of the game

I suspect when he was diving/whinging/complaining was somewhere in the middle. Now he is back to his best.

Lloyd > Richardson. That's the honest truth.

I'd fair wager Dick Reynolds was better. Or did he win 3 Brownlows, Captain/Coach 4 premierships, 7 club B&F's and all the rest because he sucks?

I have never said that Lloyd was better then this player or that, but it's like you're trying to put a limit on how many players can be rated at a certain level. Once a new player reaches that level of awesome, must we cast one down and out? Face it, Lloyd will join the hall of fame and go down in history as one of the champions of the game. Period.

Please note Reynolds at 13 and Carey is at one. You may not like Mike but he knows a lot more about footy than BF posters.

Don't give a shit in terms where Lloyd sits on that list, but you do realise every single player on that list does not play anymore. In fact, they haven't played in years.

What does that tell you? Players like Judd, G Ablett jnr, Franklin etc should be on that list too. But there not.

And im guessing Mike saw Reynolds play.......

Slagging? Just pointed out no player that has ever played for Essendon was as good as Carey. Maybe Lloyd might get there - LOL!!!!

Say's who? You, Mike Sheehan? I know you are not the full quid but even you should be able to undertsand the concept of rating something that is totally subjective.

Oh, and don't try and insult all of us by now making out you were not slagging off Dick Reynolds. You are a disgrace.

Good to see that the Mods have given up on moderating the main board.

Hahahahahaha, for a 35 year old you're really lacking a few screws up stairs. You were slagging and ridiculing a dead man who happens to be a legend of the game regardless what club he represented. That is embarrassing even for a scumbag.

How could you possibly judge or rate a player when you've never seen them play?

No one respects Mike, every year his best players lists are ridiculed yet hear you are using it to prove a point. Take a look at the other thread about this same topic.

Just had a look at his list and was very surprised to see Hutchison named ahead of Sir Dick in 12th place. Absolute champion player but not too many people would rate him ahead of Dick. I wonder if Mike simply put him above Dick because dick said that Hutchy was the best player he had ever seen and was even better then himself?

Ok enough of the rubbish.

Lloyd tomorrow? In the square 1 on 1 with Scarlett.

or

Push up to half forward and onto the wing.

No answers after 2pm Sunday.

Back to the topic. this thread has potential

All off-topic posts have been removed and any further off-topic remarks will be an automatic red with a nice holiday from the main board

Me thinks thou does protest too much. This thread will go on forever, such are the insecurities of the Bomber sheep.
Essendon supporters are like pitbulls. They should be put down at birth.

Was benched for poor form once or twice, but finished the game on the ground. He was Essendon's worst player bar none.

Was playing in a position where the ball rarely came. Probably only played 3/4's. Was on the end of shocking disposal. Got beaten by a great FB on the odd delivery near him.

Not that hard to explain really.

Oh no wait, he's a spud that's right.

Didn't play well by any stretch but also there were very few contests that even gave him a 50% chance. Scarlett, helped by Taylor and Milburn picked off the poor delivery as you would expect.

So what if he had a shocker this afternoon. Does it make him any less of a player, or degrade his standing in any way? Rediculous to suggest it even remotely does. Cut the guy a break people, I hate him as much as the next person but there is no need to bring it into this thread purely as a means of antagonism.

Better than Kernahan.

2 kicks today. 0 tackles. 1 clanger.
Has a VFL/AFL Captain ever played a worse game?

Had a poor game, doesn't help if the midfield gets r*ped though. Give him Geelong's delivery and he'd kick a bag.
