I have been a massive critic of McKernan, but if we cant get a good trade for him then im happy to keep him. No doubt if was traded to North he would kick on. We just suck at ruck training.

There's undeniable talent there, but it's surrounded by sillyness, inconsistency, and a lack of discipline. If he wanted to go, and we were offered a third rounder, I'd be surprised if we didn't take it.

"He can be a bit dopey at times." -Bruce McAvaney.

Bit rubbish that people are having a go at Pets for sticking up for a teammate. Smack is very popular down at the club, so of course he (and others) would be pissed at rumours coming out they know aren't true about their good mate. Or are players not allowed to stick up for their teammates anymore?

AFC.com.au has confirmed that he is out of contract

Technically I don't believe that he has quit the club, however reading Noble's comments I have no doubt that both club and player have agreed to be traded

Yeah that isn't fair, they should be focusing on Pet's crap performances.

Some have strongly supported the clubs player development but are the rucks a sub set that have failed to live up to this?

Definitely. We develop defenders very well and always have. We also develop our mids well. But our ruck development is and always has been very average.

He played 16 games in 2011, and had a good run earlier this year when Walker went down. It was clear that the coaches wanted someone who could be a competent second ruckman, so that was his chance to really nail it down. All he had to do was be mildly competent, and he would have stayed in the team. He showed flashes of ability up forward, and is decent as a ruckman (as long as he wasn't your lead), but he just didn't play well enough to earn more games. He wasn't particularly good in the SANFL either, which is a shame. That being said, our club is awful at developing ruckman, so hopefully he can have a good crack at it back at a Melbourne club.

I actually didn't realise he played 16 games back in 2011. The Crows/Carlton game at Etihad in 2011 he had a good game IIRC - kicked 3 I think.

Wouldn't surprise me if a club like the Bulldogs were having a close look at him as well. They need a key forward and it really could be as simple as coming back to Melbourne and being closer to his mates and family.

Quote of the year, couldnt stop laughing after that.
You could tell bruce as a crows supporter said what we were all thinking
It was so good. Such a perfect choice of words too, not too harsh, but strong enough. Classic.
