Re: Its official mcphee is gone

The most pressing issue is since when is 3 years at Fremantle a more attractive option than 2 years at Essendon?

1 year at Essendon >>> 10 years at Fremantle.

I was all ready to say I hope Melbourne or Richmond pick him up but in reality going to Fremantle is even worse than those two.

Re: McPhee & Welsh could leave Essendon

LOL - McPhee will not be going interstate.

He and his wife have just opened a business in Melbourne which they are pretty committed to. They also have a young child and both sets of grandparents are in Melbourne as well.

Honestly some of you people (and journalists too for that matter) think footballers are just machines with no considerations outside of football.

Well, well, well

Re: McPhee & Welsh could leave Essendon

Interesting as Daytripper is usually on the money.

This points to something more insidious behind the scenes as there's no real compelling reason for McPhee to up and leave over a measly year on his contract.

Theirs a stench coming from Windy Hill and I don't like it.

Maybe if he was 21, but he is what, 27, and this could be his last contract. That's a extra 200-300K he mightn't get. I can certainly see why he would move over 1 more year.

Or.....

The club didn't want to be blackmailed into giving out contracts, but yeah you're probably right. Knights is actually a CIA informative sent to Essendon to work out why we are called the Bombers. His mission is to have an army so young they will be easier to crack when the head honchos arrive.

Dang that blasted Knights!!
*waves fist*

The cause of the odour was removed on the occassion of 25/07/2007, but no doubt the prevailing sou' wester whipping through Napier St. will ultimately blow the lingering smell away.

He was 26 in Sept...He turned 27 in Oct.

Apparently(someone??in the middle of it..maybe his manager or ?. on 6PR last night) its not so much the money or years, it was the direction the Bombers were going......and wasn't happy with it.. Wasn't happy with the discussions in the last few weeks and was put off by them and a bit taken back..He was surprised...

Sounds like the Club left it late to tell McPhee what there plans were regarding him and the master plan...thinking "whats he gonna do." If Essendon would have told him before the Trade Period, then maybe a trade could have been done...

I mean, does he take Essendon for 2 years, with the phase out plan to let the young players get game time, so they can challenge for the flag 6 years from now.:)

Or does he join Freo for 3 years , who believe his body can go for 5 years.
We have a Fast-track plan for Finals ...whereas Knights doesn't...or is this his fast-track plan...?

Re: McPhee & Welsh could leave Essendon

Probably the worst post I've seen by a opposition person on here (Indeed 'markfarmer' is a good bet for worse opposition poster on here).

I'm cool with them posting here, but when they post about A)Made up radio broadcasts (No-one else has heard about this interview on 6PR) and then B) Starts bagging our club with complete nonsense......just piss off

You will find it was job security. McPhee didn't have confidence in himself lasting out the 2 years and receiving another contract.

It sounds like what ever you hear. The way you are hearing it is that it's all Essendon's fault. When the truth is, it was McPhee's contract to sign, not EFC. Part of signing a contract is asking questions, I'm fairly confident that if EFC offered a 3 year deal he would have stayed. This myths the above comment.

I mean, does he take Essendon for 2 years, with the phase out plan to let the young players get game time, so they can challenge for the flag 6 years from now.:)

EFC will put the best team out on teh field each week. Not the youngest team, not the oldest team, but the best team that can win games. Lucas doesn't perform - he is out, Zaharakis doesn't perform - he is out.

Or does he join Freo for 3 years , who believe his body can go for 5 years.

You can beleive what you want, but reality will catch up with you. As for finals, I think getting out of the bottom 4 would be considered a win for Frematle.

Re: Its official mcphee is gone

God some of you blokes are pathetic. "Piss off" "**** off" "don't let the door hit your head on the way out". He gave us 7 solid seasons and won vast recognition along the way. Sure he's irritated us from time to time with his decision-making and other clangers here and there but that's no reason to treat him like a ********.

If that article is true, and McPhee is citing the uncertainty in his future as judged by what Knights has done in response to Lloyd, Lucas, etc. then fair enough. He wants longevity then he can have it. He has worked hard and he deserves some sense of security.

Some of you tossers can neck up and show a little respect for a guy who bloody well deserves it.
Word, son.

I'll buck the trend and say something nice. How amazing was his snap goal from the boundary whilst falling backwards against the Saints in 2007 (or was it 2008)?

Pretty neat, huh?

Re: McPhee & Welsh could leave Essendon

It's a temporary thing I tell myself... just like my mistress ;)

I choose to read that as shown below, just for my own lulz:

Haven't learnt your lesson?

Piss off.

Re: McPhee & Welsh could leave Essendon

Why exactly are we being trolled by a Fremantle supporter anyway? Is he one of McPhee's disgruntled relatives?

Not even Carlton/Hawthorn trolls misrepresent our club or are as blatantly dishonest as much as farmer has been in the space of 2 or 3 days.

EDIT: Wait, is it physically possible for Skeletor have relatives? Disturbing mental image...

Must be scared of success. I know guys like this. It seems they go out of their way to make bad decisions for their career.

Give me the choice of going down as a Fremantle nobody, or a possible premiership player and hero of the greatest club in Australia, it's a no brainer.

ah well... at least he has a hot girlfriend. He probably doesn't want football getting in the way of his quality time.

Re: Its official mcphee is gone

The only problem I have is him waiting until after trade period to make his decision, thus he is a dog of a bloke and will cop it from 90% of the hostile crowd come round 2.

Hopefully someone cleans him up

I think the situation changed for McPhee and Welsh when Williams was offered a three year contract.

McPhee was in lots of marketing material so it must have been a last minute decision.

Re: Its official mcphee is gone

Yeah, shoot Connors and find the players in question another manager.
Surely there's some sort of rules or guidelines about what is and what isn't ethical negotiation by a manager?

Connors is a manager who can get good deals for his clients and seems to influence their decisions.

I compared him to Nixon a while ago - And I am not being positive.
