If "wing" still is relevant, he is your classic, both offensively and defensively.
And I know GFC is very happy with his progress.
His kicking is super impressive isn't it mate. I watched him at the training session we got to go to for the Cocky sponsorship, having shots from 50 out.... first kick he got right under it and was no where near it, and I thought he was biting off more than he could chew. After that he started hitting them sweet and they were sailing through post high and making the sweetest sound off the boot.
Really really impressive

I have never been that enamoured with Caddy, except near goals, but in crunch MF contests, he seemed to panic a lot and cough up the ball, and his disposal was not elite.
I have no doubt he will be replaced, and probably already was.
My gripe is what we got for him, when he was the demanded player for Deledio, we said no, Deledio then goes to GWS, and yet Caddy still gets to Tigerland.
Pick 24 may well be a beauty, but the original messages from the club suggested Caddy was a part of our future planning, and now we have to develop a kid. That is not a disaster at all, but weren't we aiming for the now?

Agree entirely. A lot on this board including myself all talked very highly of him purely based on the rose glass "potential" look.

Once you take away all the speculative potential discussion of this glimpse and that glimpse and this match vs hawthorn 3 years ago and that goal, you really do get a clear picture of what he actually is to this point and age in comparison with others. I was guilty of the same thing with him too. Have much clearer perspective once the detachment has happened. He just isn't that great a player.

I don't think our club will be phased by his exit one bit, I hope we bring in a great young kid with pick 24 as it is suggested this draft bats even and deep. I hope an Alex witherden or a Simpkin/venables. Not sure about the key forwards as all people have said is it isn't a great batch, don't want an average forward for the sake of a forward.

I'll be happy with Begley, a tank that can play MF and is an excellent shot at goal. But we could possibly go for a defender like Jack Maibaum, who will be something. I am only able to comment on ER players, but he was widely rated.

Biggy please, quoting past references over a year is not a good one for you to venture down, you have hardly gotten a prediction right all year. Not interested in getting into that stuff.

With hindsight as a brilliant ability to assess a players worth and what has transpired since, I easily can put menegola above him Now. He was also very unimpressive in the finals, played quite poorly, he could barely get his hands on the ball. This changes things up quite a bit.

Is replaceable and will be replaced no issues come 2017.

The point to be made in reality from the variance between those two quotes was that having lost Caddy as the third inside mid we didn't/couldn't as yet pick Menegola who as soon as he came in fitted that spot. It wasn't Caddy per se, but the non availability of an effective third inside mid that hurt. Menegola was an unknown at that point and would go on to be seen by the club as rapidly better than Caddy in that role which is could be seen as indictment on Caddy.

Of the same opinion. If we don't impress next year, I'd be prepared to suffer the consequences of trading a few established players to get some hopefully elite juniors back into the club.
I think that our window should be open for at least the next 3 years so I can't say that I agree that we should be looking to trade established players out unless we have a situation like Motlop's this year.

It should all depend on each individual players performance and also their attitude rather than doing it as part of a list management strategy IMO.

I think Geelong should have a good look at Subiacos premiership winning WAFL team - anyone coached by Jarrad Schofield ( who id love to have coaching Geelong one day - the sooner the better - doesnt talk waffle and shit like Scott ) are very well set up to play AFL

He totally turned Menegola around - went from a run with player ( going no where ) to a ball magnet - and confidently predicted that should he be drafted he would succeed at AFL . Liam Ryan is an interesting one - come from no where - also got the Schofield polish - and confidently predicts he will make the grade

Geelong should pick the eyes out of that multi flag winning Subiaco team - and if Cook wasnt so pig headed - he would see what eventuates under C Scott in 2017 - and if nothing much - then grab Scholfield for 2018 who is an outstanding coach - Premiership player - ticks all the boxes - and has got the runs on the board

Still can't reconcile why the Cats were chasing Deledio who was contracted to the Tigers on $800k and has struggled with chronic achilles/calves for the last two seasons. It was high risk stuff in the extreme and the odds of even a good to satisfactory outcome looked slim.

Very relieved he has gone to GWS. They are perhaps the only club to have the picks, existing talent and resources to absorb the "hit" if Deledio is in fact cooked.
That was probably the reluctance on the GFC's part. We couldn't take the hit if Deledio was no good. Whereas we can take the hit on number 24, since we have time to get them ready. Add to this, they probably want to bring Lang, Gregson and Cockatoo in and they are more likely to crumb the ball in the forward line and score than Caddy.

Keeping Clark is a must in my opinion. It'd be negligent not to given our tall forward deficiencies.
100% nakia. He is absolutely required. Party boy and mister german might just get the shock of their lives if hes kept and performs. I'll expect sincere i was wrongs if he does from them both
Come on clarky give em the darky.
#keep Mitch pitch

Will you be doing the same when he is either delisted in a couple of weeks or stays on the list for another year with no impact?

C
I'm reading that we could not afford him, that we have some salary cap issues and that perhaps, as you say, it gives room for GHS and even Murdoch, apart from Lang, Gregson and the others to step up.
I have no personal interest in Barlow, but he has played many match-winning games as both a mid, and as a Ling type. But we have SS. So Barlow could well be redundant.
Ould someone explain how we have cap issues when enright, bartel, kersten, caddy, vardy and smedts gone with only tuohy and black in. Is it worth my confusion.

Have you been following much of the draft?? How do you see the selection at 24?? Do you think there will be great choices??

I have stated my opinion on that... right now I'm comparing our chances of success to hitting nails in with a feather...not going to happen..without growth from our younger players. If we put some games into kids we have and draft then perhaps we are a chance . We have lost far more than we have gained atm. Get games into Parsons and Gardner and Cockatoo etc. If we must bring in players that are 20 something like Stewart.

If getting games into Parsons and Gardner etc is the solution then we may as well trade Danger now. I'm sorry but that's not maximising our chances for success in the next two seasons.
