Ditts’ Explosive Mail: Is Adelaide Getting A 3rd AFL Team?

Chris Dittmar has heard from two different sources in the last week that a SANFL club is putting a bid together to get into the AFL. “At some level, people are trying to put together a bid to go to the AFL,” Ditts said.

Chris Dittmar explains on Roo, Ditts & Loz that he’s not sure if this bid comes from business people or the club itself.

“Bare in mind, if there is a Tasmanian team, there’ll be 19 teams,” Ditts said.

“So they could be—they want to be the 20th team.”

If true it will be Norwood or Centrals (who were piling up quite the warchest when they were flying, but it’s been tough sledding since).

Lol. Besides there’s barely enough sponsorship to cover 2 SA sides, there’s no way Tassie at 19 followed by an SA or WA side would be allowed. Equal numbers to the Vic sides and it may start being run as a national league. No way the Vic big club/Vic government/MCC mafia would allow that to happen.

We'll suffer forever because of how the national comp was formed.
There was no national comp formed.

Only a staged expansion of the VFL in response to the financial crisis being faced by Victorian clubs.

It is and forever will be an expanded VFL competition, administered out of Melbourne for the financial security of Victorian clubs and the economic and tourism interests of the Victorian Government.

Which is exactly what you said in less words. Apologies.

Good bloke.

This is the bloke who publicly spread nudes of his friend without consent yeah? I'd hate to see the players at Richmond with bad character.

I should've waited for the edit. Apologies.

Lol Dittmar is an idiot and he has no explosive mail. He's just making shit up.

In all honesty though, the AFL could do worse than folding GWS, who will never get a real foothold in rugby league heartland, throwing all their eggs into the Swans basket of them being THE team of Sydney, and bringing in another WA or SA team.

Nah team 20 is happening imo

Just a question if its WA3, Canberra or Syd3

At least there might be two occasions for the PB’s
Never going to happen.

Norwood had a chance to play with the big boys but squibbed it.

Forever destined to be a parklands footy team, no matter how much money the Cooper family and old mate Blass throws their way.

A retro revival of the glory days of the Redlegs Disco is as good as its going to get for those sad fecks on the Parade.

If they expand to 20 teams, there must be a Reserves comp and list sizes increased. You need to expand the talent pool, you need more resources in the footy departments again to educated more players and let that filter down for a generation or two.

You will dilute the comp, as GES and Gold Coast have done for ~10-15 years, adding 2 more teams will dilute the brand again for 10-15 more, only way to ‘fast track’ this process is get more involved, heading back to local clubs to educated and set standards for the juniors pushing through.
